Summary: A tell-all that finally tells-all
Review: WARNING: This is a book that you cannot put down once you start!

I circulated this book to about 10 of my friends and each one started and finished the book in the same day/night/wee morning hours - it's just that good.

The writing style of the book is great, it reads quickly and it is a lot of fun - Janice and her editors did a great job of shaping the book. Unlike the poor writing in "The Devil Wears Prada", this book actually is written in a style that fits the subject matter perfectly - the tone and pace of the book complement the subject-matter which absolutely rocks!

Buy this book for yourself, for a friend, whomever, just be prepared to lose yourself for a good four to five hours!

Summary: Honest and Brutal
Review: Janice Dickinson surprised me greatly by this well written book in the tradition of the lights of Marquise de Sade. Few books I have read breathe of such honesty. You can feel the knives going into her as she was writing this, the cruel treatment of her own self and the lust for life that has driven Ms Dickinson to be such a beautiful woman. Of course, this kind of determination only works with a delectable bone structure and an exotic personality, and as previous reviewers have mentioned, there is plenty of evidence Janice is bootylicious.

Frankly having seen Janice lying through her teeth (or amusing herself) on a talk show with Gia Carangi as the subject, where she proclaimed that on the topic of playing the field and taking drugs she felt like she was "left out of something", I was much surprised at finding this such an honest book. There is nothing, NOTHING, PC about Janice. Moreover this is really one of the greatest books of its kind. Strangely enough it reminds me of Gogol! She makes that curious contact with the reader - all of a sudden she reaches out and you are right with her as she writes this remarkable tale of her life. If you have no problem with dirty words, if you love art and you don't consider a person inane because of their overt usage of foul language, this is the book for you. Highly recommended!

Summary: Read this for hours straight
Review: To be honest I wasn't even that interested in the author in the first place, I was more interested in her lifetime adventures and connections such as Mick Jagger, Sly Stallone, Francesco Scavullo, Warren Beatty, Patti Hansen, Bruce Willis and so on. However, I did get to like her more throughout the book despite of her big (and at times very small) ego. She made me laugh a few times that's for sure. And she is very straightforward and honest, she even puts herself down many a time, I felt I could relate to her sincerity. She's a great story teller. Two things that were overused were, the constant blame she puts on her abusive father for all her mistakes and insecurities. Many happy, successful, stable people out there could use her same excuses and go and screw up their lives, but they don't, they just get on with it, it usually takes a long time, but you just do it. I understand how hard and disgusting a lot of it was for her, but how many times can she repeat the same thing. Didn't she get tired of not taking responsibility for her actions after a while? There was overuse of strong profanity too, lots of us swear here and there, but come on, I have to keep this book out of reach (and not only of children!), it could've still been interesting without all the heavy duty swearing.

Summary: Janice is HEAT!
Review: My only knowledge of Janice Dickinson was that she supposedly had Sly Stallone's child and there was some type scandal. I bought this book because I love beautiful women and biographies about the fast life in the 70s. This book satisfies on both counts. Not only is Janice beautiful but also virtually every other supermodel till the 90s is mentioned or pictured in the book.

Janice describes her destructive family life and through the typical desire and luck worms her way into the modeling business. Still only on the fringes of the business, she describes her European trips and how she is finally able to generate the heat necessary to grow into a supermodel. Of course, this leads to the failed marriages, self-destructive life style including sex and drugs, and an attitude to eventually hurt her career.

But this wild life makes an interesting read even though it is lightly written.

A second part of the book deals with life after modeling, her final two marriages, birth of her kids, her Stallone affair and the death of her father. It's almost sad at this point to see a person who had it all and how she had so many problems living happily. But that's the interesting part of the book seeing how she copes.

Some of us are built to go to work every day. And some, like Janice are built to live on the edge and reach for the stars. She may not be perfect but it was an interesting lifestyle although I suspect the Christian Coalition wouldn't agree. Read the book for fun.

Summary: Very Enlightening and Inspirational
Review: Janice Dickinson is the first exotic supermodel who emerged from the 70s. Her look during that time was very controversial although her lineage was Polish, Irish and Scottish, she could have passed for Latin, Asian and other ethnicities, this propelled her to front international fashion magazine covers all over the world.

Her tale of abuse is very sad but she doesn't wallow in her own mistakes as an adult. She openly admits to her own drug problems and wild behavior, but it was because she never had a grounded childhood to prepare her for the fast life as a top model.

I've always wanted to know more about her but couldn't find enough on the Internet to really know the person. Now that I've read the book, I recommend it to all persons with an interest in fashion, to be inspired and just something entertaining to read.

Summary: Politically Incorrect...
Review: You either love her or hate her. This book is perfect for people who are akin to risk, but want to be a voyeur.
Her bad language is nothing a bar of soap wouldn't fix.....

Summary: Interesting, quick read
Review: This book was so much better than "The Nanny Diaries" and "Red Carpet Diaries". I accidentally came across this book while surfing amazon.com. I never heard of Janice Dickinson, and the title intrigued me. I'm glad I read it. Janice named names and was explicit in describing her life and I found that refreshing. Too many celebrity biographies hem-haw around the truth which is boring. There were lots of pictures which is something I like in an autobiography/biography. Janice could have talked about her financial life in greater detail, and also could have provided a better timeline throughout the book, but all in all, I liked her style of writing. At times I chuckled at how she expressed her feelings; crude or otherwise, it was honest. Too bad I didn't live half as interesting a life as this. A fast summer read.

Summary: Honest memoir by an early super model
Review: Janice Dickinson was one of the first models who not only broke the mold of the blonde, pale and WASP-y supermodel but turned it on upside down, in the tradition of Gia Carangi, Cindy Crawford and Beverly Johnson. Born with looks that turned heads and drove men to their knees, Dickinson was not as blessed when it came to her personal life and self-image. She seemed destined to self-destruct but somehow managed to recreate herself until time, drugs and her past caught up with her.
Does this sound like just another dreary tale of a beautiful woman who let fame go to her head. drugs muddle her brain and life pass her by? Think again. Pick this one up and I doubt you'll put it down again till you've read every sentence. FOr one thing, Dickinson has the courage to spill almost all about the ups and downs of her life (although I'd LOVE to read what she doesn't reveal) and that, in itself, is compelling. She's honest about many of her flaws and revealing about the lives of celebrities who cross her path, including Sylvester Stallone, Christie Brinkley, Jack Nicholson, Warren Beatty and others. This makes for a juicy read. I'll leave it to you to decide what is true and what isn't. What I CAN say is that this book definitely isn't boring or dry. CAUTION: There are some nude photos in the photo spread so, depending on your values, you may not want to leave this one lying around the house.

Summary: Hilarious and Honest
Review: This book is hilarious ! JD writes like a manic truck driver on speed. She is brutally honest and annoyingly self-important but what else can you expect from an ex - top model who is obsessed with herself and makes no bones about it? You end up liking her anyway because she tells it like it was. This is a no-holds-barred entertaining read.

Summary: I DON'T NEED TO READ IT TO KNOW ITS BAD
Review: Janice Dickinson is arrogant, senselessly self-assured, and loud. This would be a supermodel trifecta, if it weren't for one thing: she's UNATTRACTIVE. Her face is a continuous work-in-progress for some cosmetic surgeon, yet she remains unfazed. She's so fame-starved that she has to appear on America's Next Top Model. She "thinks" so much that she managed to pen down some garbage like this. While this may sound like the rantings of a jealous woman, trust me -- that is not the case. I'm a disgusted man. MOVE ON, JANICE!
