Rating: Summary: good Review: As a review below said, Branson was lucky. But he did do with his luck what many people wouldn't with similar luck. His big piece of luck, though, as Branson himself admits, was being able to release Michael Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" on Virgin Records. Every other record label had turned the album down. If one of the other labels had signed Oldfield, Branson wouldn't have been able to say (as he does in the book): "It was Oldfield's record that brought in the money that enabled me to build the business Virgin now is." This book is entertaining and educational.
Rating: Summary: Wow - I read it & then read it again - it was THAT good! Review: This book provides inspiration to any entrepreneur who has thought about just doing it and then listened to the doubting masses who wouldn't recognize a good idea if it slapped them in the face. Richard Branson is funny, engaging and unassuming in this account that has everything from corporate intrigue to sex, drugs and rock n'roll. Well done Richard, what an amazing life you have had so far!
Rating: Summary: Life Altering Review: Reading has never been a great hobby in my life, and dedicating too much time to a book was wasted, until I decided to buy this book, really to have on the bookshelf. I decided to read it months after I bought it, and so entered a life altering phase, which made more changes in my life than i could imagine. The book was SO well written, the topics just flowed so smoothly from one to another. The intrigue of Richards life, and the thought processes behind each decision, made the book an absolute gem. Each page became more involved than the next, which led me to pay so much attention to the book, I didn't notice I was losing a good friend in the process. In short, this book is woth losing your best friend for.
Rating: Summary: learning to risk and reinvest Review: I have learn a lot from Branson's policy. In my opinion, this is a guy that gets bored easily. He creates a good company and after that he sells it in order to take on another adventure. What is admiring is that he makes millions of pounds while playing this game, and that he is creating the biggest brand in the world. It would be great to work for him.
Rating: Summary: truly an inspiration Review: Brilliant is the one word I have to say about this book. I can't wait to read the second phase of Richard Branson's life. It really doesn't matter if he makes it or not as long as he's willing to try. Just glad that he's got a good ending. I really have to pinch myself again & again reminding me that he's got such a balanced life, not just a successful entreprenuer but also a wonderful husband & father. Definitely the modern version of David versus Goliath!
Rating: Summary: Fun and Informational Too Review: An incredible life that often has the pace and suspense of a well-crafted adventure novel. Important lessons for the businessperson or entrepreneur...AND portrait of the culture and music of the last thirty years as an added bonus. One of the few business books you could enjoy on vacation too. I devoured it over a weekend and recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Branson amplifies the word, Entrepreneur! Review: "Losing my Virginity" explains the secret of success and how to get there. Richard Branson gives new life to the conventional world of business. He proves that doing business and "having fun" can exist simultaneously, be it selling LP's from a dinghy basement or breaking land, sea and air records. "Losing My Virginity" makes becoming a millionaire every man's dream!
Rating: Summary: Losing your virginity is fun! Review: Yes, you can be successful in business without being a stuffed shirt or tyrant. Branson examplifies the American Dream. Here you have a swashbuckling individual who bucks the system and lands on top in every endevour he chooses, not to mention a few lasses along the way.
Rating: Summary: Pure Genious, Honesty and Integrity and extremely readable Review: Fabulous Book. I have little time to read so I choose what I read very carefully and feel cheated if a book is not extraordinary.A wonderful insight into an incredible man.
Rating: Summary: A very exciting detailed biography of an interesting man. Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story of Richard's life is full of excitement and drama. As I read and learned of the persistence and dedication to his companies I was truly inspired. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in business leaders biographies.
