Summary: His personal stand-up comes through
Review: I love Jay Leno. I've always found Letterman a bit too smug and self-consciously hip--except for moments with his mom and the Top Ten Lists. And for critics who derided Jay Leno's championing of Schwarzenegger, Jay, a dyslexic, has a tendency to promote the guy everyone else laughs at (and who Jay laughs at too, but never mean-spirited).

There's plenty of comedy here but what I find most touching is Jay's courtship with his wife Mavis, his relationship with his Italian father and Scottish mother, and the loving way he chronicles his parents' eccentricities. This is the same spirit in which he memorialized his father and mother on-air. Jay Leno truly is Mr. Nice Guy.

Summary: What a guy!!!!
Review: I may only be a sophomore in college, but I have loved Jay Leno for years now. :o) I read his book and when I finished it I wanted to cry, simply because there weren't any more wonderful stories left to read. I didn't cry though--I just flipped it back to the beginning and read it again. This book really lets people into his life. He doesn't back-stab anybody or put anybody down, and his stories aren't "And that's why I'm perfect" He shows us the more human side of him, and his style of writing makes you feel as if you were actually having a conversation with him, and these were the stories he was telling you. These are stories that nobody will ever get tired of reading. They are no doubt stories that, if Jay were a father, his children would beg him to tell over and over again. This is my new favorite book! Way to go Jay!!! :o

Summary: If the book is as good as the condensed version, GET IT!
Review: I read a condensed version of the book in Reader's Digest some time ago. It was so good, I wanted to get the book but couldn't find it anywhere. But it is available on AMAZON.COM.

He mentions his parents, his dad taking a broken toilet seat back because it has a 10 year warranty and he has a month left! His mother (who entered 50 years prior) fearing immigration would deport her because she wasn't a citizen (she failed the test when she answer the question "What is the Constitution?" as "A boat"). I'd like to read the whole book!

Summary: This book explains very simply a complex man
Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was fun to read and I couldn't put it down. It's the type of book that you want to read again to catch something you may have missed. His love for his parents and his wife will make you see a side of him not known by many people. His stories, trials, and tribulations will make you see life in a whole different light. You'll feel better after reading Leadimg With My Chin.

Summary: the best book by an stand-up comic
Review: I've read a lot of the various books put out by different commedians and this was the best of them all. Many comedians can't communicate their material without their own verbal delivery, but Leno succeeds in print where many of his counterparts fail. This book was more than random bits of material, because it told his life story, but in a way that made me laugh out loud.

Summary: What a nice man!
Review: Jay Leno either is a very nice man or he's a total liar. I don't believe that it's the latter. LEADING WITH MY CHIN is his autobiography, and it certainly confirms his niceness.

This is the brief, "official" version of his childhood and early years, in which he gives what seems to be an honest appraisal of his failures every bit as much as his successes. Many of the anecdotes, hardly unexpectedly for a person of Leno's skill, are hilarious. A few are oddly touching. Over and over, he proves himself to be caring and observant.

It would be impossible to read such an autobiography without learning something about the making of a star comedian, and about the hard work it requires. Certainly, the determination to get as far as Leno and that handful of others have gotten must be fierce. It says a great deal about Leno's humanity that he has managed to keep intact his decency while he climbed to the very top of his industry.

Summary: Nice guys finish first.
Review: Jay Leno has been called "the nicest guy in Hollywood" and this book is part of the proof. If you are looking for hot gossip or name-dropping, this is not the book for you, Jay doesn't go in for that. Leno tells the story of his rise as a comedian, starting with comical childhood experiences. I found this book very funny in parts, but it's an autobiography, not a non-stop laugh riot. If you're not a Jay fan or a budding comedian who can relate to his tales, this book may be a little slow for you. I found his casual, talkative and sentimental writing style unpretentious and refreshing. As a big Jay fan myself,I enjoyed this book and rate it an "8"
