Rating: Summary: A different take Review: *Caveat Emptor: I'm pretty new to playing poker. I'm going to give you my opinion, as a neophyte. But after reading the other reviews here, its possible that I've been misled.*
John Vorhaus brings us an unusual poker book. It contains absolutely nothing in it about the game itself. Instead, Vorhaus assumes you already know the game and play regularly in "b&m" poker rooms (and he probably hopes you learned by reading his Killer Poker: Strategy and Tactics for Winning Poker Play).
So instead of what hands to play and what hands to fold, we get a solid course on internet poker. Everything from picking the right poker site and online handle, to managing your bankroll, online tells, and how to get the other players riled up via the chat function.
On top of all that, its a pleasant read. Vorhaus' tone is conversational and sometimes witty. If you're going to play internet poker, then its well worth your time to read this book.
Rating: Summary: Great book for beginner to low-intermeidate transition! Review: For $10 you can't go wrong with this book! Some of the details here basic, but if you're new to the online game -- regardless of how much experience you have in live play -- this book is worth reading even if it seems to touch only on the basics. The concepts of taking notes on other players and game selection is a very unique concept to the online game.
Rating: Summary: Crushing the Internet Game? Review: I have read several of the internet poker books and this is the best of them, in my opinion. The book assumes that you already know how to play and, therefore, doesn't waste your time or money teaching you the basics. The book spends most of its words outlining the difference between b&m poker and online poker. There are more differences than you might think. In reality, there is not "secret" to winning poker online. It really just comes down to a few points: correct play, good strategy, consistency and patience. If you are going to get a book on internet poker then this is the one to get.

Rating: Summary: More damaging than helpful Review: I hope novices don't take this book to heart (unless they are playing at my table) because many of the concepts presented are more harmful than they are helpful. I guess the best thing to say about the book is there are FEW concepts (and therefore few harmful concepts) in the book. The author rambles about trivial things like where is your computer located, are you multi tasking, etc, and completely ignores the actual play until the last third of the book. And then his tips? "Don't overplay, instead set an alarm clock to limit your play". PLEASE!!! If you have no more poker savvy then not to know when to quit, an alarm clock ain't gonna cut it. "Online poker is fast paced, therefore you don't get the rest breaks that you get in live games". Have you ever seen a little button called "Deal me out"? "Watch for this tell, although it can be faked and exploited". Well, there's some definite help. And how is that different than a person-to-person game. Bottom line -- this book is VERY little help to anyone who wants to understand the world on online poker. As an aside, let me state that apparently I am not alone in this assessment. I purchased the book used, and the previous owner highlighted only one sentence in the 273 pages.

Rating: Summary: Good Online Poker Book Review: I read this book after I began playing online poker. And I found it very truthful except I rarely run into much chatting maybe I have just avoided the sociable tables. This book is not a strategy book, it justs give you an insight into the online poker culture. Read this book along with a good strategy book and winning in low-limit online poker will be literally!!! like printing your own money. I only play up to the $2/$4 point above that level the players are not as ignorant. However, you can get beat down on occasion from a overabundance of bad players who catch lucky breaks repeatedly on the river. This book kinda gets you mentally prepared for that so you won't go on tilt. Thanks to WSOP there are many sheep out there to be eaten. Read up and enjoy the feast.
Rating: Summary: Killer Poker - Waste of Time Review: I was disappointed after reading this book. Too many basic concepts were discussed and i really gained nothing from the purchase. In conjunction i purchased Advanced holdem by sklansky and that was amazing i have learnt a great deal from that book killer poker was just a summary of how to play online. a good book if you have never played online before. otherwise dont bother.
Rating: Summary: Not worth it. Review: If you are a serious poker player forget this book. It contains nothing that experience and common sense wouldn't tell you. Very disappointing.
