Summary: Some useful advise, but ....
Review: If you play K7o in early position (or don't know exactly what this means), this is not the book for you. Go buy Lee Jones's book on low-limit poker and read it about 10 times.

However, if you really know how to play, and you are frustrated on the internet, this might be what you need. He goes into the psycology of playing online. Talks about "What the hellism" - his concept for not assigning any meaning to the chips - and other self-defeating thought patterns.

Also read this if you are new to gambling period. Much of this "Self-control" type of stuff is what you learn from gambling experience in general.

However, the author does describe some "Winning Tactics for online play" that I take issue with. He talks about "betting it up" - going into a game and raising all the time to make people unconfortable. This is great if you are playing premium hands or constantly catching cards, but if you are against a even one or two decent players, you will see a lot of reraises, then get beat by the premium hands - the author doesn't go into how to handle that situation ! Another thing. If the game is low-limit, there is not a lot of bluffing that can be done period. So maybe the author is good enough do to this in the right game and the right stakes - but it's irresponsible offer this as general poker tactic to everyone.

I also take issue with his advise to chat decitfully or annoyingly so as to take advantage of "weak-minded or naive player". Every respected poker author on the planet tells players to be nice to people - this helps the individual game, the player himself (despite what the author thinks), and poker in general. This poker boom won't last if we are not decent to each other - and to suggest otherwise is again, irresponsible.

So while this is not a classic by any means, I found it a good mental check-up on poker and gambling in general.

Summary: A Good Read for Internet Beginners
Review: If you've never played poker online then I would strongly recommend picking this book up before you log on and start playing. It will help you avoid most pitfalls beginners experience such as loosing your bankroll too early and going on tilt. However, that's about as far as it's going to go in improving your game. If your not a experienced player this should not be the book you are reading, rather start reading books that will help your game such as Theory of Poker and Hold'em Poker, both excellent books for beginners.

Summary: It helped me get into internet poker
Review: Listen to his advices before getting involved in online poker
Very informative and insightful on play online. Useful strategies and avoidance of the pitfalls of the online game. Does not contain any strategies on how to play the games. Also helps you prepare to begin a session online to get your mindset ready. The whole book is useful to build up your bankroll in the online arena.

Summary: For Beginners
Review: Not worth the money. this is a book you will read once. not a classic

Summary: A different take on internet poker
Review: Read this more than once. Although some of it is useless and boring unless you are brand new to internet poker, it has some great stuff. Taking into consideration your mindset, why you play, when not to play, and who you want to play against are some of the more important concepts to consider. Without question, the most valuable part of the book is the reccomendation to take notes on your competition and how to use it. This alone has greatly contributed to my new found succuss with online poker. Other than this, the only other books you need are Brunson's Supersystem and David Sklansky's books that are relevant to your play.

Good Luck,

Mr. X

Summary: Disappointing
Review: The book is a sham, partly because the title is entirely misleading, partly because the "advice" is too general and time consuming to be of any value at all. There are few practical points made. The author takes the opportunity to tout his other book. He has exploited the buyer/reader, in my opinion.

Summary: Very good for beginners
Review: This book is excellent for beginners and losers on the online poker realm. This book trains, through excercises, a player to evaluate his poker style and make the necessary changes to become a more aggressive, thoughtfull, and dangerous player. It shows you the many pitfalls of online playing, and how to aviod them. I recommed it strongly and i guarentee this book will change your game if you are a beginner and a consistant loser.

Summary: Two Good Ideas, But That's All
Review: This book offers two ideas that are useful. One, learn how your
opponents play and document it. Two, focus while playing poker on
your computer. These points are over-emphasized ad naseum.

Essentially this is a collection of ideas that in theory could be used
while playing online. It is not a system of good practices based on
the author's actual experience. It cannot be, because too much is
impractical and contradictory.

No advice about how to play a hand is given.

Summary: Could sum up the useful tidbits in less than 10 pages.
Review: This book was a complete let down for me, you might as well skip to page 187 and suffice it to say that pages 1-186 can be summed up in "don't play internet poker." There were a couple useful tidbits of information but I am sure they could all be gleaned from any book on internet poker or any poker book for that matter. Anyone giving this book a good review must be friends with the author is all I can imagine. -- Regards to all, one disappointed reader

Summary: Thought Provoking for the Experienced Player
Review: This is a great book if you are past the point of studying pot odds, drawing hands, what to do when etc. It raises excellent points on how to keep a winner at the tables with your mental attitude, looking for good games etc. The author actually gives examples how to do this. He raises excellent points about differences between B&M play. Online tells and keeping books on your opponents. Really a very good book on hold'em and I have read most of them.
