Rating: Summary: Please keep an open mind and hear me out Review: Whether you are a conservative, a liberal, or whatever, without exception every argument we make has to have a common foundation - integrity. In Chapter One, Sean Hannity lays 9/11 at the feet of Bill Clinton, claiming he was asleep at the wheel with regard to terrorism. Yet the NY Times article he cites to prove his claim says that "until Sept. 11, the people at the top levels of the new Bush administration, if anything, may have been less preoccupied by terrorism than the Clinton aides before them." There are other examples in the chapter, but let's move on... In Chapter Two, Hannity quotes an article written by Ted Gup (who authored a book honoring the CIA operatives who have died in the line of duty) and mischaracterizes the article as an attack on the CIA because it contains the words, "[i]s it time to get rid of the CIA?". Hannity neglects to mention that Gup was posing the question to GOP Rep. Porter Goss of Florida (House Intelligence Committee Chairman), and Goss replied, "Now that's a fair question. If you ask me, 'Have you ever thought about changing the name, moving the building, putting up a different flag, calling it something else?' Yes, all of the above." The basic thrust of the article was that the CIA is designed to fight the Cold War and it needs to be either overhauled or replaced with a new institution that is better suited to fighting terrorism. In no way was Gup's article calling for the elimination of U.S. *intelligence*. I could go on, but you get the idea. Almost EVERY QUOTE seemed to be a distortion or an exceptional case, and it got to be tiresome reading. It got to be tiresome not because I necessarily disagree with everything Hannity said, but because the book is so simplistic, extreme, and poorly-researched that the entire work's credibility becomes questionable. Somehow I got the feeling reading the book that Hannity's politics are so strongly held that he couldn't bring himself to be balanced in his analysis, even if he tried. His opinion of his philosophical opponents is immature, too. The other side, the "liberals", are a caricature presented as a monolithic group sharing identical views, views that are always wrong and worthy of our contempt. Views so dangerous that they threaten the country. Books like this one are not good for the national dialogue. No ideology is totally right or wrong. That's why Hannity has to distort the facts; because it's the only way to make his ideology appear to be totally right. Since "liberal" views are distorted, the reader's perception of *people* holding those views ends up distorted (demonized?), as well. Because of all these reasons and much more, the book lacks integrity.
Rating: Summary: Celebrities should keep their simplistic views to themselves Review: Seeing that Sean Hannity is, at best, a media celebrity, I find it hard to believe that his book would be received any differently than a radical noxious rant along the lines of something you might hear from, say, Barbra Streisand. But, unfortunately, there are those who seem to consider Sean as a source of real political commentary. Sorry to say, but Mr. Hannity's misguided invectives are to real political commentary what Danielle Steele is to the world's literary canon. Sadly, but probably even more telling, I'm sure it's no stretch to say that, more often than not, you're going to see both names, Sean and Danielle, at the bottom of the same shopping cart. One bit of advice to those who may have read this book and were unfortunate enough to find that their views were in the least bit influenced by it. Turn off your TVs, read more books and it should go away.
Rating: Summary: page 158 says it all about this douche bag Review: Mr. Hannity seems to have an obsession with the light in the loafers lifestyle since he devotes most of his bile infected rant to it. So obsessed in fact that the reader is left with the question, "what's really going on?" It is obvious that his hate is an external manifestation of his inner hate toward himself. Maybe he can't be the person he truly wants to be so he has to attack the object of his inner desires. Moreover, he seemed to know an awful lot about "fisting"(158) - a little too much if you know what I mean. Maybe it is time he comes out of the dark cave he has been living all his life and accept who he really is.
Rating: Summary: Great. Review: I don't agree with everything Mr. Hannity has written in this book, but Sean Hannity is a passionate man with very important thoughts he wants to get out to the public. I may only be 17, but i know where i stand. This man doesn't tell you what to think, but rather encourages thought and action. If anyone is offended by this book, it is because of their issues with Sean as a person and not his personal stance and opinion. We live in America. Thank GOD people like Mr. Hannity are willing to use their rights and speak their minds regardless of whether anyone agrees with them or not. The Book is beautiful!
Rating: Summary: Too bad liberals can't read Review: Otherwise they would be very happy with this bookl=.
Rating: Summary: fisting Review: this book is all about fisting!! The fisting of America by these right wing fashist bigots like this king of slander sean hannity who never had the courage to put on a military uniform.
Rating: Summary: Load of manure Review: what drek. I'm not bothering to offer insightful comments b/c this book---like pretty much all conservative demagoguery in print---fails to offer any insightful comments. if you're a knee-jerk reactionary who loves to be pandered to and told your narrow-mindedness is patriotic, then this tripe is definitely for you. if, on the other hand, you have the ability to rub 2 brain cells together, you can either avoid this overpriced paperweight or use it for the toilet paper that it is.
Rating: Summary: Hannity on the money again Review: If your not a thinking person you won't like this book, if you are your going to love it.
Rating: Summary: Mr. Hannity You're a Great American Review: An excellent debut by one of America's top conservative radio personalities. It is well written, the points have been deeply investigated and it is very informative. I'm willing to bet the one star ratings I see other's have given this book are from Liberals who have never read the book and are doing what they do best, being untruthful. All I can say is if you believe in truth, this is a definite must read.
Rating: Summary: Brainless Garbagae-just like GWB (our most moronic president Review: Why isn't Sean Hannity holding an apple pie or have a bald eagle in the background as well. Another title for this book could've been "You're not a true patriotic american if you don't agree with everything I say or what Bush stands for." This is the worst piece of garbage I've ever read. I could only read the first 50 pages and just couldn't go on. Horrible!
