Rating: Summary: A Must Read! Review: Truly informational, educational, and inspirational! Let us please, PLEASE bury the shameful, embarrassing, and ignorant liberal movement once and for all!!
Rating: Summary: Non-Partisan Review of a Very Flawed Book Review: I am neither liberal nor conservative. I hold several political convictions that land on both sides of that silly fence. I am concerned with the truth as best we can get it. With that in mind, I must say that this book is obvious propaganda. The writing is horrible. No page is without some sort of grammatical or logical error. His "facts" are simply wrong. I would beg anyone who reads this book to do further research and find out for themselves just how much misinformation is in this book. This book gives conservatives a bad name. It lands neatly into all of the boxes liberals think conservatives fit into so nicely: stupid, dishonest, and self-serving. I hope some intelligent conservative is out there to write a good book to replace this one. Right now, the liberals are winning in this year's political non-fiction race. Michael Moore's book, Stupid White Men, and Gore Vidal's wonderful book about 9-11, Perpetual War For Perpetual Peace, simply glow in comparison to this book. (Though, as an aside, Michael Moore is almost as bad as Hannity when it comes to unresearched propaganda-spouting. It's just a different propaganda he's spouting.) It is also very sad that a spokesman for a huge number of Americans is so generally uneducated. Again, I can't get past the fact that every page has a fragmentary sentence or some opinion (as opposed to a researched position) that glares off the page at me. As a graduate student I have tutored freshmen who are failing English 101 whose prose style is more advanced than this. As a final note, it seems that Hannity is more interested in talking trash about liberals that he is in solving problems. This is so often the case in politics. It is rarely about the issues themselves. Few people want to solve the problems, they simply want book sales or power. This is true of extreme party-line leftists as well. ...
Rating: Summary: Same Old, Same Old Review: After reading this book twice I realized that it's just more of the same old conservative right wing mumbo jumbo and double talk. And they say liberals whine! Page after page after page of mindless moaning that grabs the wrong end of the stick and procees to beat around the bush with it. At least Rush makes me laugh (even though I don't agree with him). Recommended only for the ultra rich.
Rating: Summary: THE BOOK THAT NEEDED TO BE WRITTEN Review: Sean Hannity chops up the liberal machine and leaves it in shambles. Take any issue on the national agenda today and Hannity will spell-out the reasons, in convincing fashion, why the Liberal Left policies of the Democratic Party are bad for America. Sean Hannity, in my view, correctly portrays the Liberal Left as the true extremists in this country--extremists that hate America, hate the flag, hate the Pledge of Allegiance, hate God, and worst of all hate the freedom we all have. One more thing--the extreme, ant-war left wing of this country, if they were in complete control of this country, would be signing surrender papers on September 12, 2001, if they were left to their own ... devices. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! LET FREEDOM RING!!!! GOD SAVE THE SOULS OF HARVARD, MADISON, AND BERKELEY.
Rating: Summary: One in a series of well-deserved salvos against the Left! Review: An excellent summary on how the Left continues to lie to clueless people who don't bother to look for the facts. Don't miss two other great conservative books: Bias by Bernard Goldberg, and of course, Slander. Isn't it amazing and wonderful that these three books have made the New York Times Bestseller list? Attention conservative authors: Keep the truth coming!
Rating: Summary: A Nicer "Slander" Review: Picked up this book yesterday thinking I'd read a little here and there. Ended up finishing it last night. Mr. Hannity has created a real page turner with this one, and the slightly left of center to the far-right will have a tough time putting this one down. He writes in a very honest tone and in a manner that is not condescending to the reader, unlike a few of his contemporaries who almost seem to ooze with the "dont you get it!" style of diction. It's refreshing, because I believe many of us do "get it" or at least appreciate not being lectured to like incompetent children. Why only 4 stars? Well, nothing really new here. Most of the ground he covers has been tread before by other conservative writers and this book is basically another variation on the typical conservative mindset. Nothing wrong with that, but he doesn't have the distinctly unique fire of an Ann Coulter or a Rush Limbaugh. Overall, a well written diatribe of "Liberty over Liberalism". Bravo Mr. Hannity!
Rating: Summary: Sean is right on target Review: I watch Sean every night and tune in to his radio show when I can. I thought this book wouldn't tell me more about Sean's positions, but I was wrong. I have always believed that liberals are either naive, power-hungry, or are on the dole, and I truly have little respect for someone who holds the liberal view. Now I am even more convinced that I have always been right, thanks to Sean and the case he has deliberately laid out. Liberal policies are indeed dangerous for Americans, I am convinced more than ever, thanks to Sean's book. It has the cohesiveness behind his positions unlike the collection of H&C segments. I personally don't agree that Sean is "pro-life" like he claims b/c he supports the death penalty, and I don't like his version of the flat tax (his version rewards certain behavior and I believe our tax code must be amoral). Nevertheless, this book is a must-read for conservatives especially and those who want to get smart on the issues.
Rating: Summary: Better than I thought Review: First, I'd like to start off by saying that I'm neither a hard-line republican or democrat, or a political ideologue of any particular stripe. I tend to vote by issue and qualifications rather than by party, and therefore I've voted for independent, democrat and republican presidents over the last 30 years. So I'm sort of all over the map poltically, in that sense. ... I found myself reading Hannity's book, and I found it interesting reading in a way I hadn't expected. Although I don't always agree with him, Hannity's book is by a compelling and committed young writer who does seem to care about the issues, and wants to get his message across. I will give him credit for that. There is no doubt, after reading his book, where he stands on any of the issues. And although I don't always take the republican or democratic line, I did agree with some of his opinions. My problem with the book is different. I understand we live in dangerous times, underscored by the events of 9/11. I realize we need a strong defense and strong leaders, and that's where I have a problem. People tend to equate strength with carrying a big stick. As Teddy Rooseveldt said, one should speak softly but carry a big stick. While that may be true, the U.S. is also probably the last country left in the world strong enough to force its will on the world, politically or militarily. If we're going to do that, we need to make sure what we're doing is right. I think we did the right thing in Afganistan, for example, although I often think the U.S. too often clumsily meddles in the affairs of foreign countries. (Where are the Talleyrands when you need them?) Anyway, I am certainly, under the circumstances, for a strong defense and military, and for taking action in situations like this, but I'd also like to see the U.S. with leaders who were capable of being true statesmen too, capable of coming up with real, long-term, peaceful solutions, in addition to acting like hard-nosed geopolitical cowboys who like to kick some serious international butt once in a while. (And who usually do a pretty good job of it)... The last thing I wanted to say is that I have great hope and admiration for the American people. They are a great people and have helped more nations and people than they have hurt, have contributed more knowledge, science, and technology to the world than any other country, and have built the strongest, most advanced technologically, and most free country on earth. They deserve the best leaders, also. I hope that day soon comes to pass.
Rating: Summary: Let Freedom Ring for the SUV Crowd Review: Has it ever occurred to Hannity that those who oppose SUV's do so not just to restict the freedom of another but to improve the quality of their own lives? Hannity is an articulate bore. He is typical of conservative talk show hosts who find the left wing looney news item of the day and cynically manipulate it to inflame his audience. An essentially kind and intelligent idealist with conservative views, Hannity doesn't understand that people with opposing views and different lifestyles, want more than tolerance; they want respect and full particpation in American life.
Rating: Summary: Hannity, America's closed-minded superstar Review: Bought it, read it... This book is for old ladies who need to reaffirm that their racist, homophobic, closed-minded ways are still the way to think and live. Sean Hannity is a showman, and a good one, but as a political pundit his comments (and notice I don't use the word "facts," since very few are in this drivel) are as lightweight as, oh, any of the other talking heads that are cluttering up the airwaves these days. Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, O'Reilly, Colmes, etc. etc.........they're all closing the door on THOUGHTFUL political discourse and a variety of views. They are not what America is about. Everything is wrong to Hannity except living in a house with the picket fence and your 2.5 kids and not stirring the pot...except to take on any new ideas, that is. Take a bow, Sean Hannity. You're a national joke, and you're so blinded by your own ego to even notice.
