Rating: Summary: READ THIS BOOK! Review: After reading "Join Me," I feel like I really know Danny Wallace and several other "Joinees." This book is witty and quick reading. I laughed aloud several times. You will find it very entertaining and perhaps inspirational. What would the world be like if we all joined and committed to doing random acts of kindness? Certainly a very happy place. Read this book - IT IS GREAT!!

Rating: Summary: another point of view Review: All of the current reviews of this book are highly favorable with the exception of one which said it was "okay". Well, I have a different view. The author tried much too hard to be funny, took much too long to finally figure out a reason to have people join him (fully 100 pages), and the end result is BORING! There is nothing wrong with random acts of kindness, but one does not need to "join" anything in order to practice kindness. Just do it. Don't waste your time reading this pointless book.
Rating: Summary: laugh and join or join and laugh Review: Danny Wallace is one funny guy. This book is filled with chuckles as he tries to start a cult for no good reason, all the while trying to keep his girlfriend from finding out that he's a cult leader. This is a great book to read, especially if you're wondering what better things you could be doing with your life. One man (or woman) can make a difference!
Rating: Summary: For the Internet Savvy Review: Do you belong to an organization? Do you love the internet? Put those two together and you've got the book, Join Me. This book is about the Join Me movement and how it all began. You should definetly read this book if you are totally into the cyber universe and the potential it has at joining people together from all over the world. JOIN ME IN READING THIS BOOK!!!
Rating: Summary: Have You Joined Yet? Review: I came across this book while on holidays in the UK. The cover design struck me initially; it's quite striking, with a white background and a picture of Danny Wallace (the author and Leader) centred, holidng up a sign with the words "Join Me" in magenta writing. The blurb mentions "the story of a man who started a cult by accident"... needless to say, I was intrigued. Join Me is the story of Danny Wallace, and his valiant efforts to convince strangers to commit random acts of kindness on a weekly basis. Inspired by the sad tale of his great uncle's failed mission to colonise a collective of followers to live with him in harmony on a farm in his native Switzerland, Danny vowed to bring together 100 individuals and unite them in a common desire to bring happiness to the world. Despite initial misgivings (and the toll taken on his long-term relationship), Danny's "collective" grew beyond his wildest expectations. Not only are his adventures entertaining, but his humorous, witty writing style offers plenty of chuckles along the way. I highly reccommend this book, evidenced by the fact that I have joined and am now a loyal member of the Australian chapter.
Rating: Summary: If you need a smile this book is for you. Review: I just picked up this great book after, I herd about it from a friend. It is a great story! I just can't believe people would send there picture so freely! But after I read the book, I was quick to tell my friend to "join me" (or really join him :) I think this is the most hilarious and unique book I have ever read. Some people may think Danny started a cult with this "Join me" movement but I don't think so. He just wanted to make people feel like they belong to something. Which I think is genuine heartfelt. I would recommend this book for anyone who could use a laugh, or if you are looking to belong. A+++ Thanks Danny!
Rating: Summary: idealistic fun Review: I started reading this book--knowing nothing about Danny Wallace. I was pleasantly surprise and by the end of the book felt like I had met a friend. Its a great entertaining read and very timely--seeing that nowdays we meet so many different, funky people in on-line chatrooms and "talking boards." Wallace meets interesting joinees "the old-fashion" way--by mail. It brought back fond memories of my "pen pal" days of youth. Lots of fun...you will not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Great idea for book -- mediocre execution Review: I thought this would be a very interesting book and the premise was really engaging for the first 1/4 of the book. However, the author meanders around the rest of the book and doesn't tie the whole experience together.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Review: If you've not seen or read Dave Gorman's work you might not be familiar with his equally sardonic friend Danny Wallace. Wallace's stumbling into the creation of his own - let's face it Danny - cult is hilarious. This is not a phd paper so don't expect heavy insight. But it is a very readable, witty book about people's innate need to belong.
