Summary: Are you a shredder?
Review: "If you're a shredder and like to spank the plank, this is your book dude!" Speed and accuracy, all in one kit.

Summary: Guide for intermediate guitar players
Review: A great book for the intermediate guitar player, learn to play/shread through scales and master the technique of an independent right and left hand. Very useful content, although I would have preferred a modern day rock solo as opposed to the tab for 'flight of the bumblebee'. Nevertheless, the book works on many different exercises and should not be bought by beginners. The cd gives examples of the scales or tab at two speeds one which is moderate and the other lightning fast! It includes some tips on how to build up the speed and master any tricky parts. This has helped my finger movement tremendously and a must for people wanting to learn the 'art of speed'.

Summary: Essential for anyone who wants to improve their speed
Review: A must have! This guy is one of the best instructors ever! He teaches rock music at UofWisconsin and he shreds out of his mind. His techniques will improve your speed 100%. Made the biggest difference in my playing of anything I have ever read. Enjoy.

Summary: Short, but well thought out.
Review: A simple but well thought out book. Lots of exercises, some good insights and solid basic advice. I will probably use this for some time -- if only for dexterity training. Let down by poor print quality (esp. some of the diagrams), and out of date layout (no CD track numbers and references to the cassette which, presumably, accomanpied this book sometime... long ago). Decent value at Amazon.com prices. This will not be my main book.

Summary: YOU NEED THIS BOOK!
Review: After dog-paddling around for 3 months in the sea of so-so small town guitarists, I finally decided to get up and do something about it. After practicing out of it every day, this book increased my techinque exponentially. It's been a year now, and I still play this book every practice session I have. It goes over every facet of playing speedy guitar, seperating the hands first, then putting them together. The good news is, after you've got Hammett down in the first "mechanical" section, you can work on becoming the next Hetfield with the "rhythmical" section, and you'll already have the right hand speed to play songs like Battery and Damage Inc.!I honestly can't say enough good things about it, it's a breadcrumb trail through the forest of half-players who think they're good because they can play "Smells Like Teen Spirit". A great pick and a must have for current dog-paddlers with the desire to become great.

Summary: Please Consider This
Review: All the previous reviews are stating the subject correctly, however it isn't really only for the intermediate to advanced level player. Even beginners can learn many things from this book. Moreover, the book has some very important advices for beginners who may start learning the guitar in a way that it can affect badly their future playing. Furthermore, I'd like to say that this book has some parts that will take some guitarists many years to be able to play correctly as Troy is a guitar virtuoso (as stated in the book). Finally, Troy presents guitar playing from so many angles that it can make even the enemies of guitar to love the sound of it.

Summary: Delivers
Review: Delivers . Excellent CD .Good choice of licks . Mr.Stetina does not pretend it's easy , but he lays-out-cold a method which works . Worth every penny of the cover price .

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Helped me buid up my speed and great licks.
Review: good scales to review. great practice book

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Too overwhelming
Review: I am an intermediate player and this guitar book is meant for shredders only. If you like poison, whitesnake, or guns n' roses and want to emulate the intense guitar solos of the mid 80s, then this book is for you. I saw all the positive reviews for this book and purchased it but I must say that I just threw it out because it is just too overwhelming. I know all I would need to do is practice slowly day in and day out but the exercises are all just speed exercises. Granted, I'm sure you will perfect all aspects of your guitar playing, but if you are a beginner or an intermediate player, I think you will find this book just to be too much. That is my opinion.
