Summary: Highly recommended.
Review: This is a book with a different look at the game. The strategy in quite different than the commonly used blackjack strategy and the writer makes in my opinion good points with relevance to this new strategy. The book also contains a diary that I found good to read. The money management section is also very good. There are many inside looks into what is going on behind the game and in the casinos themselves. At times the book is complicated and that is why I am not giving it 5 stars, however I would say that if you play this game as I do on a regular basis, you will enjoy this book.

Review: I live in the Las Vegas area. I am an "old timer" at this game. This strategy for the game seemed very "pecular" to me when I first read this book, I have played well over 100 hours of blackjack in several casinos here in Las Vegas and I certainly am winning using it. I would say that 100+ hours of actual casino blackjack is substantial and proves to me that this "pecular" strategy does work without counting. There is a counting section in this book but I have not learned it yet. The book is very good although a bit wordy. Still I highly recommend it for a winning system.

Summary: This is getting out of hand. Read this from the author.
Review: I am the author of this book, and I am specifically writing this review in response to the next review titled "show me the money." You obviously have NO KNOWLEDGE about this "game" do you.. You can run off one hundred trillion hands on any blackjack simulator on this Earth and you will not get a accurate indication of how a particular strategy will perform under fire and here is why: The computer no matter what standard rules you may feed into it cannot determine one critical factor: the fact that the probabilities in blackjack ARE NOT CONSTANT! As the game is played out, the probilities constantly change rendering old basic strategy impotent. My strategy which is in this book is the first "strategy" ever devised for the game of blackjack that takes this into consideration. There are 2 crucial factors for the development of a blackjack strategy. The first is the mathematical probabilities, the second is the fact that these probabilities are not constant. The execution/combination of those two factors in concert is what makes my strategy work. So you stay in your house and run off all the simulations that you want, they are meaningless, I will be in the casinos making money. Perhaps you want to take me up on my challenge on page 21 of my book? Use ANY system that you want versus mine. So Mr. Show me the money..Lets go, put up or shut up. Contact me through the publisher..

Summary: Show Me the Money
Review: Please read and note the adversarial reviews prior to this one. Please also read the honest reviews and note the "personal testimony" aspect of most.

I'm a recreational blackjack player who rarely visits casinos, but I'm very interested in the mathematical and computer simulation analyses used to develop a winning edge over the house. I've just finished reading Beat the Dealer (by Edward O. Thorp), Professional Blackjack (Stanford Wong), Guerilla Gambling (Frank Scoblete), Knock-out Blackjack (Olaf Vancura, Ph.D. & Ken Fuchs), and this book, Gregorian Strategy for Multiple Deck Blackjack.

This book is far and away the worst of the lot. Mr. Mannarino adopts the role of teacher to a not-too-bright student through the whole of this book, admonishing you to "pay attention" at least twenty times, and ending every third paragraph with a variant of "are you still with me? I'm beginning to worry about you" or "trust me on this one." I thought his tone was cute for the first five pages, slightly tedious during the next five, condescending for the next twenty, and increasingly annoying for the remaining 120.

Content? There is an actual blackjack-playing strategy hidden in there (page 74), and it is radically different than the well-known Basic Strategy developed over fifty years ago. IMHO, the one-page strategy table is the only real content in the book.

Note that most blackjack strategies involve keeping a running count of tens vs. non-tens remaining in the deck/shoe and varying your bet accordingly, in order to win more when the deck is in your favor and lose less when it's not. Gregorian Strategy is far simpler in that no counting is involved - simply learn the playing strategy described and hit the casino. The "Advanced Strategies" chapter at the end of the book does suggest a counting strategy to use for varying bet size, but Mr. Mannarino says that this is not needed to consistently win at blackjack.

Does it work? I plugged his strategy table into a commercial blackjack simulator and "played" one billion (1,000,000,000) hands of 6-deck, 5/6 shoe penetration, DAS, s17, resplit aces allowed, hit split aces allowed, no doubling restrictions blackjack. These are all rules that are favorable to the player. I then did the same for the Basic Strategy, with the same rules and same flat bets. The Gregorian Strategy fares considerably worse than Basic Strategy - both systems lose money, but the Gregorian Strategy loses more. 'nuff said.

Every blackjack book has some value, whether it's factual card-counting information, experiential tales of real-life casino experience, how to get comps, or how not to play. Gregorian Strategy for Multiple Deck Blackjack is the latter.

Summary: Re: Truly shocking.
Review: This is funny, I wrote a review last night and when I woke up to see if it had come up, I noticed another review titled "sounds fishy to me." It seems to me that this "reviewer" has some kind of vendetta against this book/writer and the review is utterly ridiculous. I am going to AC this week to try this new strategy, and if this strategy does what I have seen it do (see my other review), I will be very happy. Hey "fishy" maybe you should stick to reading novels!

Review: To the person who wrote this. I do have the same last name and I do live in Staten Island but I have no relation to the author of this book. If I was related to the author I could have simply hid or changed the name on the review. There are 102 people on Staten Island who have my same last name. I STAND by my HONEST recommendation Dated 9/23/2003 and the update on 11/4/2003.

Review: This is a great book for blackjack! One of the best I've used!

Summary: Truly shocking!
Review: When I first brought this book home and read it, I thought, "this could never work." But after playing out over five thousand hands, yes 5000! Indidual hands which I have played out at home, using standard Atlantic City rules and 4 decks of cards, this unorthodox strategy certainly does work no doubt about it. I have as yet to play this in the casino, but I see no reason that it should not work exactly the same way. To those of you that may be somewhat reluctant to try this new strategy I would say this, do what I did, try it at home. You may be just as suprised as I am that this Gregorian strategy actually works! Truly shocking!
