Rating: Summary: Hillarious! Vintage Carey! Unrefined & Fun Review: Drew Carey loves to have fun, and he doesn't care who knows it!!! This book describes many of the ways that Drew pursues happiness. He seems like he'd be loads of fun to hang around with.
Rating: Summary: Funny and creative, Drew's first book attempt is successful. Review: Sometimes when your big stars go on to write a book they give you things like thier "horrible" childhood or other stuff like that. In this book, Drew doesn't toss any of that crap in your face. In fact he really hates when he reads a book that has nothing but stuff like that. Drew explores his childhood, yes, but not to the extent of such that it takes up the entire contents of the book. Drew mainly sticks to his adulthood and his career so far. He explains over and over again on how the road to stardom is never paved in gold. He says that so far he's been lucky. He takes the stage with some funny material, such as his "101 Big Dick Jokes". He takes on letters about his show, he tells what Mimi is really like and he also metions some things that have gone on around the set and with the show. He is also a great storyteller. With four stories written by him, that actually happened to him, he streches the truth in some points as he explains, but he wants to, just so the story sounds better. After all, don't we make our stories a little more fictional each time we tell them, it's like when you catch that 2 pound bass and come back and tell everyone, "You should have seen this monster, it was at least a foot and a half, had to have been 20 pounds..." that's basically what the four stories of Drew's are. All in all, this book takes you on the roller coaster ride that has been Drew's life. I highly reccomend to those who have caught his stand up shows or are regular viewers of his show.
Rating: Summary: Lots of Laughs Review: This compilation of the life of Drew Carey and some fiction that Drew has written is a very entertaining read. I couldn't put the book down.
Rating: Summary: Cleveland Rocks Review: Being from cleveland and hearing drew's take on where we are both from was a great feeling. We live in a wonderful city and it is about time someone from there reached a position that could tell the world how it really is. Drew, we love you in Pepper Pike and thank you.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: I loved this book. Drew certainly doesn't pull any punches, but I certainly wasn't offended by anything he wrote. I enjoyed every minute and at one point had to stop reading to wipe my eyes. Drew is a great guy and a great writer. Drew rocks!!!!
Rating: Summary: Very suprised with his cohesive fiction!! Review: I was very pleased with the final four chapters of Drew's book. His dark comedic approach to fiction reminded me of Steve King stories as told by Steve Martin. Drew Carey has, at least, a solid part time job writing about the humor involved in lethal revenge.
Rating: Summary: Drew just says it like it is. Review: Drew just says it the way it is, and in the process he gives everybody a good laugh.
Rating: Summary: I can't watch the Drew Carey show after reading this book. Review: I used to live for Wednesday night and Drew Carey. He seemed like a guy that I could take home. After reading his book, I wondered, "what's his problem with women?" I was offended by his constant references to getting laid--has this guy ever had a girlfriend that he cared about? Regarding the captions by his pictures that say "I'm not gay," He doesn't seem to really like women, that I wonder. I also didn't like his disrespectful attitude toward our country's leaders. Carey's a comedian and college drop-out- why does he think that he could do a better job? Whatever happened between Clinton and Paula Jones, I think that the office of the president deserves some respect.
Rating: Summary: Hysterical, Truthful, and Outright Blunt Review: The jokes kept me laughing, while the reality of his life was true to form for Drew and the many milestones of his life. Straight out forward text keeps you turning pages as Drew Carey's life keeps turning another page in the story of his life.
Rating: Summary: Good mindless reading about an "everyday", celebrity. Review: Drew Carey had no problem in telling the reader that he was an everday guy, who grew up in a typical household and joked around and went on with life just as others do. My problem in reading his story though was his seemingly shallow approach to his new found stardom. Where he may still have his down to earth personality and still value a dollar, he has reached a point in his life where he doesn't have to worry about rent, a mortgage and putting food on the table. He shouldn't use the theme in his book that he is still the typical guy when we all know this is the furthest from the truth. Overall it was funny and it made me chuckle in numerous sections. It was funny relaxed reading, yet too much on the personal side.
