Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Raving madmen, one & all. But entertaining
Review: A history of 50-odd(very odd) years of decadence, excess, & plain ...foolishness, from the dawn of Rock to today.

Well worth your time & money.

Summary: A Bathroom Book All The Way.
Review: Definitely a light read. A few items are either incorrect or misleading; but for the most part, a relatively entertaining book. Written in the light, easily digestible style of any good "bathroom reader."

Summary: Rowdy Rock Stars and Their Crazy Antics
Review: I have to agree with Margaret Moser's and Bill Crawford's assessment that there are a lot of dim bulbs in the rock 'n' roll community. My favorite story in Rock Stars Do the Dumbest Things involves Led Zeppelin, babes, and live octopuses...but I don't want to spoil it for you. Suffice it to say, it's very entertaining and so is this entire book. If you're looking for a fun read, look no further. The Rolling Stones, Marilyn Manson, Courtney Love, the Spice Girls, and Madonna are among the rowdy rockers featured in this book, which is filled with facts, outrageous quotes, and hysterical anecdotes.

Summary: Interesting and fun!
Review: I liked this book and read it in 2 days. It has some interesting info on different bands and singers that make all us common folk feel better. A fun read I would recommend! Just wish they had more....... Hey how about another??

Summary: Not Bad At All
Review: I was happy to see some of my past and current favorite bands listed in this book. There are no secrets in this book. If it's embarassing or stupid.. it's listed. We all have our musical heroes and heroines that we look up too, but sometimes the things they do are so awful you just have to cringe! With chapters on everyone from Motely Crue to Trent Reznor, it appears that the authors have spared no musician or band's pride. For example, did you know that Elton John had a pair of wooden pants made for him? If that doesn't seem funny enough, how about John Lennon sticking a Kotex on his head while arrogantly walking around the Troubador Club? In addition to stories like these, each chapter contains a "Quickie Bio" and a "Dumbest Quotes" section. Let's just say that it's nearly 300 pages of the most hilarious, yet well-researched brain candy I've seen in a long time. Read this book before your next party

Summary: A Book Of Dumb Things is Probably Going to be Dumb
Review: In America we have a show called "America's Funniest Home Videos" where people send in videos of family members getting caught doing whacky things for a chance to win a big prize. I affectionately call this show "Americans getting hit in the nuts." Anytime I get roped into watching this 90% of the clips end with someone wincing in pain on the ground grabbing their jewels.

This book is call "Rock Stars Do the Dumbest Things." If you've watched any episodes of VH1 "Behind the Music or an E! True Hollywood story, you can guess what the "Dumb" things are.
Do Drugs/Get Drunk
Getting Naked
Smashing Rooms
Get In Fights
Something Sexual
Break an Obvious Law
Smash a Car

An example, Fleetwood Mac, didn't like one of the Pianos during the recording of Rumors. They brought in (and out) nine different pianos, and eventually didn't use any of them. It was also reported that they snorted approximately 8 MILLION dollars worth of coke. Yep. that's dumb.

The funniest story I read came from John Denver who apparently wrote the song "Rocky Mountain High" after doing drugs and riding around on a motorcycle (FAR OUT!). In another incident, he got upset with his wife, took a chain saw and cut their kitchen table in half. He tried to cut their bed in half, but the saw got tangled in their sheets.

About half the way through the book, I really had to force myself to keep reading. This was due to two reasons. Either I already knew most of the stories (Alice Cooper's chicken incident), or I was just tired of reading about stupid, drunken, naked, stars being idiots, and breaking laws. I also found that their section on Metallica differed from the "behind the music" show (so I'm not sure who is inaccurate).

I thought I might be able to "learn" from some of their mistakes, but unfortunately I had a rigid upbringing, and learned at an early age not to drive the Mercedes into the pool. Luckily I got this book at the library, and didn't pay anything for it It's not bad to skim from time to time (some good quotes), but reading cover to cover is kind of depressing.

Now my nephew wants to learn how to golf, we found some clubs for him; I think I'll videotape it.

Summary: I laughed, I cried!
Review: Incredible collection of must-have information about the rock stars we all love and thought we knew. Awesome book to have at parties! And I thought The Monkees were a real band! I'm crushed!

Summary: Authors Do the Dumbest Things!
Review: Margaret Moser and Bill Crawford live in fantasy land? What a waste of money. Obviously these two clowns have not done any proper research and have filled the book with lots of myths and wildly exaggerated stories. I'm particularly peeved with the Keith Moon stuff, complete rubbish. Keith's antics have been well researched by other people and what these two have used are stories that are well known to be grossly exaggerated. They have basicly taken the most stupid myths and exaggerated stories from other peoples work, put in no research, and expect people to buy it. I wish I hadn't!! Save your money.

Summary: I knew some of these people were stupid, but . . .
Review: Now I got no respect for 'em at all! Man, does fame cause you to lose common sense? Or maybe having money and fame gives you the opportunity to make COLOSSAL mistakes? In any case, a great leisure book.
