Rating: Summary: A Few Random Thoughts Review: A few months ago I was in Ireland for a week. My driver for the week was a great old Irishman named Tony Malone. Over the week we shared many a story. Each time I told him one he would throw his head back and roar, "Write it down, Lad. Write it down!" Well, that is exactly what I have chosen to do in "Random Thoughts from a Wandering Mind." I have chosen to write them down. I hope you enjoy the reading as much as I did the writing. Believe me, as a CEO of a fast growing company, I learned a long time ago that the best way to make a point was with a good story. I trust that once you have read the book you too will be pleased that I chose to "write them down!"
Rating: Summary: Home Run! Review: As an ex-teacher and a school administrator, I found "Random Thoughts" helpful. Let me provide four examples. Reading is an important aspect of our education, both for pleasure and in our area of employment, whether it be in business, religon or teaching. Ben gives examples of how reading expanded his small town background and continues to provided mental growth as an adult. A second area of help, was a reminder to get rid of our grudges, our prejudices and our feelings of guilt. His examples show that these negative thoughts take away valuable time and happiness. Go on with life, think positive, forgive and forget. Surely this is applicable to the classroom as well as the office. Espcially important for a teacher, was the value to Ben of having a "mentor" during high school. Not a formal one, but someone who saw a prospect in him for the future. What this teacher did for him is worth reading and rereading. Besides your parents, did you have someone who cared about your grades or cared about how you would get to college? With so many employees in a school, surely more than just a few students could have that special someone. A fourth helpful hint or reminder, was to be honest. If you screw up, admit it, work out a new solution and proceed. No matter your profession, work as a team and come up with a successful solution. Speaking of team work, respect each person's worth and their unique talents. Sometimes, as Ben says, there is too much "stuff" to do. Make use of that team, work though the problem or project and get it done. Here are only four ideas. There are so many more, complete with real-life examples. Also, there is much humor in "Random Thought from a Wandering Mind". It is a quick read, quaranteed to put smile on your face as you learn life's lessons. I won't give away any funnies, but the story of a sock and of Cobb's Funeral Home provided some party humor for me.

Rating: Summary: An Immediate Help Review: At the time I read read this book I was facing a serious challenge in my business. Chapter 8 on "Financial Reports" helped me see things from a very clear perspective. That one chapter probable saved our company a minimum of $500,000 simply because after reading it I faced reality and decided to act. A CEO from Philadelphia, PA
Rating: Summary: I'm this guys doctor! Review: Believe it or not I was the doctor who finally solved Ben's problem with "The Big Stubborn Cough." When I read that chapter (#10), I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I just wish each of my patients could see the humor in these 'life events' as Ben has been able to do. Rating: Summary: A must-read for business leaders! Review: Ben Gill's 'Random Thoughts' is a great gift to the business leader or manager. In this book, humor and hard-hitting insights are combined to create a memorable lesson in leadership. I read the book cover-to-cover, then have been re-reading chapters ever since. One of my favorite things about the book is that each chapter is a stand-alone concept using a separate story to illustrate a point. Though there are themes that are present throughout the book, each chapter can be enjoyed on its own. This feature makes it a great candidate for one of the 4 or 5 books you should be reading at any given time according to Ben Gill. The only tough decision is do you keep it at your office or on your nightstand. Mine has been commuting with me for the last two weeks because I can't decide. Ben Gill's messages about integrity and the importance of team commitment are high-impact for any business leader (or manager or employee who wants to become a leader). And his delivery style means the information really gets in and stays with you. It's like no other business book I've ever read. I mean, how often do you see books that are included in the categories 'business' AND 'humor'? I work with business leaders every day, and I have purchased copies of 'Random Thoughts from a Wandering Mind' for every client (and several friends and family members) to share Ben Gill's gift with them. Don't miss out on this entertaining lesson on leadership!
