Rating: Summary: Good up to a point Review: Builds a good foundation for animation but there are numerous typos and several technical errors. I am not sure I can trust the Javascript section due to typos so I have ordered Javascript a Beginner's Guide, which is highly rated. I will buy LiveMotion 2 Complete Reference when it comes out this month to hopefully cover where this one fails, and that title may be a better choice than this one in the first place. I only bought his one because I was in a hurry to start learning the program.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: Excellent written. This book is not only recommended for Livemotion-users, it`s a must. You know that feeling, sitting in front of a new software and don`t have a clue? Simon Dabkowski takes you by the hand and leeds you the way. Answers and explanations to the point. Worth every cent...
Rating: Summary: How did this get published? Review: From reading earlier reviews of this book, I really thought that it would be helpful. Upon buying it and getting into it, however, I was stunned that McGraw Hill agreed to sign a contract to publish this book. The author obviously has English as a second language (this is not a joke), and as a result cannot explain his ideas coherently. One of the examples of this is on pg. 318, where a sentence that should read, "You should familiarize yourself with the interface..." instead reads "You like to familiarize yourself with the interface..." The other totally inexcusable problem is that there are so many careless typographical errors in the scripting examples as to make them totally useless. They don't work, and if you don't know JavaScript (which is the purpose of the chapter on teaching you JavaScript), you have no clue as to how to correct the mistakes. Whole paragraphs or diagrams seem to be missing from the other step by step examples throughout the book. The author is a genuinely talented web designer whose work demonstrates that he knows the programme inside out. He just should not have written this book without an enormous amount of editing. It's almost entirely unreadable.
Rating: Summary: Great Book for beginners Review: I bought the book to get to know how to use Adobe LiveMotion 2. This book really shows beginners how to use the product from the bottom up. I highly recommend the book for people who want a book to learn how to use Adobe LiveMotion 2. As a user of Adobe LiveMotion 1 I found this book to be helpful in getting know some of the new features in LiveMotion 2.
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Book for an Excellent Program Review: I design web sites, and I only use Adobe products. Why? I know and love Adobe's tools. When Adobe sated the web multimedia market to Flash, I was not happy. Moreover, when Adobe released the first version of LiveMotion, which was an inferior program, I was not happy. However, with the release of LiveMotion 2, I am happy. I love this program. I also love the first book that I bought on LiveMotion 2. LiveMotion 2: A Beginner's Guide is a clear and concise primer for LiveMotion users. I quickly learned about the new functionality within LiveMotion 2, and I also benefited from the author's coverage of LiveMotion's new scripting language. I went to his web site, and he is the real deal. He uses Adobe tools, and he is a designer at heart. If you are new to the world of LiveMotion, this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: Extremely well written, and easy to understand. Review: I have a mental block when it comes the computers, and I usually cant follow a computer book past the acknowledgments. But with This book i was able to do things I never thought I could do!
Rating: Summary: LiveMotion 2 Review: I have never been more disappointed with a computer related book than this one. I found dozens of errors and spent an excessive amount of time trying to get some of the examples to work....with no success. I went to the publisher's website and downloaded the files and found that I could not load a substantial number of them because they were written for LM1.0 and could not be imported into my LM2.0 It's embarrassing that the author is continually promoting his book on the web instead of attempting to correct the errors in an erratum to the website. I highly suggest that he update the website files to LM2.0 as promised in the book instead of trying to push a book that contains so many inaccuracies. I also don't understand why a few dollars of royalties would be more important than the author's dignity and professional reputation. Please correct your errors and make your companion website files compatible with LM2.0

Rating: Summary: Dissappointing! Review: I purchased this book hoping to learn a little of LM2. I am happy to report that Micro Center was able to refund me! I found the book riddled with errors. I WOULD NOT recommend it to anyone because it is, in my opinion, irresponsible of the author to release a book with deceiving information, such as: online files that don't exist, illustrations out of place, and examples geared for LM1, NOT LM2. If you're serious about learning LM2, stay away from this one!
Rating: Summary: a great guide... Review: I'm not too familiar with livemotion, but am trying to get myself starting on working on programs like this. A friend told me about this book so I skimmed it at a bookstore and it seemed pretty beginner friendly on how to get started on livemotion2. Since there really isn't anything else like it, I decided to pick it up and I'm glad I did. The book has got some good ideas and I can follow it well enough to work on it when I have the time and I don't feel like I need to constantly go back to previous chapters to refresh my memory plus the end of chapter tests and projects really helped to ensure that I actually understood what I was learning and doing. Definitely worth the buy if you're a beginner or even looking to further your knowledge of this program.
