Rating: Summary: You HAVE to read this book!! Review: Junk is one of the best books I've ever read.. well, actually it's THE best book I've ever read. I started off disliking Melvin Burgess's style of writing, but now I see it as it is, nothing but genious. The way each chapter is written from another character's point of view is amazing, and the characters are painted fantastically. I found myself laughing out loud, or standing up and screaming at the inanimate book when things went wrong! I completely fell in love with Tar, and I felt as if Gemma was sitting next to me and reading these words to me... plus I have a new found love of dandelions!! If you don't have time to read this book, get time, because it may do to you what it did to me.. it gave me an entirely different outlook on life.. I wouldn't say it put me off drugs at all, but it certainly was honest, rather than just telling me "All drugs are bad. Never do drugs." If you have any interest in anything at all, then read this book!! JUNK ROX!!
Rating: Summary: A new insight Review: Junk really is more than just a book. After I read it once I read it again and I read parts of it every day. It really is an inspiration to new thoughts and attitudes about life. The book doesn't judge drugs immediately but makes the reader make his or her own conclusion about that stuff, which is really good.Junk can truly give so many new ideas into your life. It can change your life. read it.
Rating: Summary: This book is a must Review: just a short one from me. I haven't actually read this in novel form yet but i was involved in an amateur production of it and I can tell you it touched me in a way i'm sure this book will touch you. It is both beautiful and scary.
Rating: Summary: an unforgettable read Review: one of the best books i have read in a long time, "junk" by melvin burgess delivers everything i look for a in a young adult novel, but its believable and relatable characters make this a superb choice regardless of your age.the story is really about gemma and tar, though the plot unfolds through the voices of seven or eight people, each voicing their view on living a drug-filled life in london's squats. "junk" is a subtle love story that is harsh, warming, and always... real.
Rating: Summary: Junk, or Trash? Review: Potential buyers should be warned that this pamphlet consists of material that will be offensive to many readers. It should not be confused with the book Junk English. Also, this is not really a book, but a ... pamphlet.
Rating: Summary: Very realistic, Very good, I couldn't put it down. Review: Simply, just great
Rating: Summary: Not the real Junk Review: The version being displayed here is not the real Junk. It is a dramatization, as it says on the cover "adapted for the stage." FYI. The real Junk has ISBN 0-140-380191.
Rating: Summary: Messed me up Review: This book actually messed me up when I was reading it. It is such a powerful book, and I just thought so much at times "sort yourself out" about the characters. Richard is such a good person and Tar is a loser for taking the dirty smack and giving in to it. Read it now, you should do!
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: This book deals with a love story between two teenagers although you have to say that their love isn't typical. This book is written in a very interesting way because it changes its points of view in each chapter. So you have the opportunity to imagine every character in a better way than you can imagine if only one person tells the story. By reading this varied and exciting book you can't imagine at no point in time how it will go on because of the changing characters of the teenagers and the sudden changes in their lives. This book has to be read at any rate!!!
Rating: Summary: A touch of genius! Review: This book has to be the best book I have ever read. It had an uncertain beginning but after reading a chapter you find you cannot put the book down. The book makes you feel like you are part of the story with it's brilliant layout. It really makes you think of the consequences of drugs and it isn't one of those stories that has a happy ending. Well worth the money. Highly recommended!!!!
