Summary: Tell how Moore manipulates uninformed minds
Review: Michael Moore Is A Big Fat Stupid White Man is a must read if you are a critical thinker and really want the truth instead of being spoon-fed false information by someone who has a stated agenda to bring down Bush.

This book was written before Moore's latest attempt at brainwashing Americans, the "stupidest people on earth" (Moore's sentiments, not mine) with his F911 propaganda. However, the authors use documented evidence to blow away all of Moore's lies and half truths in F911, because he has been using the same old, tired, arguements in previous books and movies.

Moore is very talented at giving bits of false info to make you come up with the wrong conclusions yourself. The authors of this book show you how this is done in his previous films. Very interesting!

If you enjoy having your mind played with, if you are NOT a critical thinker, if you are a sheep that only wants to follow, if you want to be told by someone else what to think ... then by all means stay away from this book.

All others, who don't fit into the above category will enjoy this book and get a lot of useful information from it.

Summary: For Heston
Review: Moore shouldn't be criticized for the way he treated Heston because... well, he's Michael Moore. Mikey doesn't know any better. But Hollywood's falling all over Moore's "Bowling..." and desperately looking for a category to honor him was disgusting. Lest Hollywood be too quick to tear down American icons, they should recognize that they are also icons... or at least trinkets.

Why did Michael Moore trash Heston? Why does South Park's creator bemoan the fact that Moore actually made "Heston look sympathetic?" Unlike most of the Hollywood elite that has to be chauffered to their latest "cause" on the promoter's dime, Heston was one of the first in Hollywood to fight on the side of the angels during the civil rights movement. It would seem that that fact alone should assure him a place on the pedastal Hollywood usually reserves for likes of Lenny Bruce and Larry Flynt. But no. Heston, like most WWII veterens, believes in America and the 2nd Amendment. How dare he! Do what you want with him, Mikey! He deserves your constant badgering, creative editing and childish judgemental poses.

I can't recommend buying this book for its content, most of which and more can be found on the internet including the authors web sites. Buy the book to honor Heston. His legacy to America is greater than ironic cartoons and disingenuous "documentaries." He deserves our support. Unlike the pervasive cynics in Hollywood and our society in general, Heston actually got off his tired ass and did something about it when 'it' wasn't all that fashionable. Maybe if enough people buy this book and books like it, the Hollywood elite will start to realize that not everyone is as self-centered as they are. I doubt it, but at least you'll get a book out of the deal and save your eyes the strain of reading a monitor.

Summary: good to know the truth
Review: Sometime one must read drivel to see both sides. This book might have some value to understand how angry people want to present a point of view. It easier to shoot the messenger than get the truth and since Hardy is a pro-gun lawyer obviously angry at Moore since the movie Bowling for Columbine - he does try to verbally shoot Moore. After today's news 1-12-05 it is obvious lots of this book is crap and the authors can't take the truth - nor can the people who hate Moore. In case you didn't hear "The White House acknowledged Wednesday that its hunt for Iraqi weapons of mass destruction - a two-year search costing millions of dollars - has closed down without finding the stockpiles that President Bush cited as a justification for overthrowing Saddam Hussein. "
Kinda says it all.

Summary: Digs deep into the Michael Moore sewer.........
Review: This man (and I use the word man loosely in describing Moore) has to be the most despictable human being on the face of the earth! First of all the man is suffering from the big three:

He is

1) FAT

2) STUPID

3) UGLY

He does have the ability to create wealth, but so do pimps and drug pushers. He claims to be for the poor, yet lives in a mansion in NYC and has a huge net worth in the millions of dollars. Yet this man has never held a real job for any great length of time and created seed money by suing one of his former employers, essentially stole money for totally frivolous reasons and used that to create the wealth he has today.

I have nothing against capitolism. In fact, I am a businessman myself. The only difference is I do it ethically and morally. I would never produce "mockumentaries" filled with lies and try to pass them off as fact when it is in fact all a pack of lies and should be in the fiction dept.

As a democrat, it made me sick to my stomach to see this big fat slob sitting next to former President Jimmy Carter at the DNC. I also was watching the RNC and actually cheered the republicans as they booed this big fat idot out of Madison Square Garden and sent him out to the streets of NYC where he belonged.

I really don't understand how this man made his wealth. Ever hear him speak on the talk shows? He is about as articulate as a deaf mute. He speaks in a low monotone and his remarks are totally unintelligible. People are really naive!

This book digs deep into the real Michael Moore. Interesting since the book has been released, Michael Moore released two books that bombed. Perhaps Americans are wising up to this big fat idiot and perhaps certain hollywood people are getting tired of loading up their basements and garages with Michael Moore's books to help "defeat Bush" and create a synthetic, hyped up best seller status for MM. Hey come out and smell the coffee guys. It didn't work.

Hopefully we will be seeing the end of Michael Moore very soon. I loved the book and I really loved the title. Even if it is a little bit lame in describing this big fat idiot who cares about his country about as much as a rat does. Remember, this is the guy who says "There is no terrorist threat."

Summary: Mediocre at best
Review: Though it's clearly apparent who will and will not buy this book (judging by their preconceived views of Moore), I feel the obvious must be stated. The book does do a relatively decent job of presenting facts against Moore and how he presents himself. However the book is littered with half facts at best and contradictions at worst (in the first chapter they mention how droll Moore's paper The Flint Voice was and how no one would read it, then they go on to tell how it won him national recognition).
The worst part about the book is that it presents absolutely no new information regarding Moore bashing. The best thing it has done is compile complaints about Moore into a neat list with chapter titles. If you already dislike Moore, or are at least aware of his greater criticisms, than you already know about 90 percent of this book. To mention that Moore's nearly decade and a half old Roger and Me has scenes that are taking out of sequences (ex: Regan's 1980 visit was well before the Flint layoffs) is like mentioning that Jesus was the hero of the bible. If you already heard about it chances are you know that fact already, otherwise it probably doesn't interest you.
Actually, the worst part of the book is its constant "pound this humor into your head" reference to Moore's "faults". Okay, we get it he's fat (after about the fourth fudge joke it was pretty clear). Oh, and he's not poor? Right that would be why that comes up ever 5 or six lines in this book. As a source of humor this book is the equivalent to watching another comedian talk about "women be shopping..."
In the end it is not the content that troubles the book (sure there probably are enough faults about Moore to fill a book), it's the incredibly poor writing. If you're going to write a book like this make sure it's at least entertaining and well written. The book seems to be more preachy than entertaining and take itself more as an expose than simply another book lampooning this whale of liberalism.
As an independent person I have read both books by and against Michael Moore. I am well aware that the liberal "everyman" is not with out fault, lots of them. However this book would have been better kept to the websites of the authors (which they note a couple of times in the book) than to a book format. Simply put, it's just the same old complaints dressed up with a new cover and more fat jokes.

Summary: This book says what I've thought for a long time!!
Review: To say it's easy to take potshots at Michael Moore is to state the obvious. He makes it almost too easy, but what potshots often lack is substance. With that said, this book makes up for the lack of substance that hurts many criticisms of Michael Moore. A few of the reviews on this site claim that there are no facts in this book, no references or accounts of events to back up the authors' claims. That simply isn't true. Almost everything is backed up. (I say "almost everything" because there are some op-ed pieces included, and op-ed pieces don't have to be based in fact. Hence the reason they're called op-ed.) I know that the primary audience for this book is people who hate Moore, but I think people who love and adore the director would be the ones best served by this book. They could read how their icon really lives and how he manipulates the medium that has made him famous. They may not like what they read, but they would at least see that "the emperor has no clothes." Of course, people who despise Moore and his "work" (yes, I am one of them) will find themselves pumping their fists in the air, saying "I told you so" a lot. It will also give them ammunition to hurl at Moore's admirers. The best thing about this book is that it covers his entire career; it wasn't something just thrown together to combat Farenheit 9/11. That lends it even more weight because there is as much criticism of Roger and Me as there is of Bowling for Columbine or his books. In all honesty, this book didn't make me think less of Moore, but I didn't expect that to happen. It just helped me justify my dislike of him and what he calls "art."

Summary: Mindless, right-wing hatemongering?
Review: Why is it when liberal pundits shriek ad nauseum about how horrible America is, they are branded as free-thinking, critically minded, thoughtful individuals excercising their First Amendment rights...but when conservatives challenge those same opinions, they are branded as brainwashed, fascist, hatemongering?
Contrary to some of the other reviews posted and what the book title might suggest, this is not a personal attack book on Michael Moore (the title is obviously a satirical jab at the titles of Moore's works). This is instead a well organized, highly researched and documented critique of Moore's manipulation of facts, contradictary statements, and hypocracy, as it manifests itself in pretty much ALL his works (I think Canadian Bacon gets spared... I only wish I had been spared from having viewed it).
It is telling that so many of the negative reviews are expressed as though it is a contest between Michael Moore and George Bush...you don't have to support either to take something away from this book. The authors lengthy deconstructing of Moore's manipulation of footage of Charleton Heston for "Bowling For Columbine" should be enlightening whether you liked the film or not.
