Summary: Fabulous book, very comprehensive!
Review: I keep telling my boyfriend how much I love this cookbook (he's vegan too) just because I can't believe how great it truly is! It's perfect for both newly converted vegans and folks who have been vegan for years. I appreciate the breadth of recipes which other vegan cookbooks don't seem to cover as well (especially condiments, sauces, drinks, and non-dairy milks). Also, the information on kid's stuff, dog and cat treats, household products and health/beauty ideas are indispensible. Best of all, the recipes in How It All Vegan do not use exotic, hard to find ingredients. The authors show a great deal of creativity, humor and knowledge about food throughout the book. This book is great for everybody who loves food and cares about the environment! I highly recommend it!

Summary: Why does EVERYONE buy this "be careful" rubbish?
Review: I love everything about this book EXCEPT the nonsense that vegans have to be more careful about eating a healthy diet. What utter rot! Does this mean that if I stuff hamburgers down my throat I don't have to worry? There is no scientific basis for this garbage. And you don't have to think very hard to realise that this is a myth perpetrated by the meat industry. Absolutely terrific book, but, gee, guys, cut that sop and you'll have a book I'll be prepared to give my unbelieving friends.

Summary: Yummy and Cruelty-free!
Review: I received this book as a gift when I made the switch from lazy vegetarian to hardcore vegan warrior! This book is overflowing with amazing recipes, and contrary to what other people have felt I really don't think this book pushes the scare tactics. In fact all it has is a short section contaning letters by the authors talking about their love of the earth and its animals. Certaintly there are a lot scarier things to do than say I don't consume animal products because I don't think it's an environmentally or animal-friendly thing to do?! This book is my cooking bible. In fact I have been giving it as gifts to my non-veg friends to introduce them to yummy and healthy alternatives. This book gets a hug thumbs-up!!

Summary: Great resource, but what's with the scare tactics?
Review: Saying that there are health risks associated with veganism in order to make the information in this book seem necessary to the consumer only gives credence to the myth that veganism is unhealthy. As a matter of fact, there are risks associated with ANY type of diet if all you eat is French fries and candy bars. How many carnivores do you know that are a) aware of their nutritional needs and b) plan their meals carefully in order to have a balanced (and delicious) diet? Certainly this isn't MY carnivorous clientele! But the vegans, on the other hand - they're the least likely to only eat potato chips and chocolate. I'd say that veganism is naturally the healthiest choice!

However, this book is great for the starting vegan. Just don't try to scare us to boost your book sales.

Summary: Punk rock, vegan, Betty Crockers!
Review: If you are looking for a cookbook then this is the one to buy! Even my meat eating friends love the recipes, which Sarah and Tanya have put together it a fun, retro way. Not only are there wonderful entrees, side dishes, dressings, sauces and desserts, but there are recipes for skin and hair cleansers, perfumes, cleaning solutions and ideas for vegan kids! How It All Vegan is a must have!!!

Summary: Wonderful Desserts & Breakfast Foods
Review: The desserts are amazing. I have bought many Vegan cookbooks and they all focus on main/side dishes for dinners. The ones that do have desserts and breakfasts aren't impressive and usually fall short. You will love the Banana Pancakes and the Pumpkin Pie. So easy to make and cheap too! This book runs the gambit on meals. It will take you from breakast to lunch, dinner, dessert, and the midnight snack. I make dessert every chance I get and breakfast in our house is on high demand. A must have for the sweeter side of Vegan cooking.

Summary: AWSOME!
Review: I think that this book is ABSOLUTLY the best cook book i own. I make evrything i eat from this book and i love it all! Even my carnivorus little brother loves the food! Also Sarah and Tanya have a wonderful web site with a great chat board, that they actually will ansewer you from. The book really does have the BEST recipies (my favorite is the bread section) and i LOVE this book! And anyone else will too!

Summary: Aren't bees animals too?
Review: This book has some great recipes that are not overly concerned with fat content but taste (AND the recipes are still healthy). There are even some tofu recipes that actually made me like the stuff. But, gosh darn it, in the intro they say they made the decision to eat bee products because it's just so important for health; give me a break! Go eat some nutritional yeast! And watch a show about how bees live and work. Please don't advise people to eat bee products when you say you're vegan.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: great book, but for the bees
Review: actually, I hate to burst your bubble, but there is still reference to beeswax and honey in one or two recipes in this book. Which is hardly a bad review!! I think this is the best vegan cookbook I've ever owned, and highly recommend it to anyone. The recipes are delicious... especially the desserts!

Summary: Even the meat-eaters will want these recipes
Review: I have only recently decided to go vegan (from a previously carnivorous diet), and I have found that the recipes in this book make it effortless to give up animal products. All the recipes in this book are amazing, particularly the desserts. (My non-vegan sister refers to the Maple Walnut Brownies as "damn good.") You could host a dinner party based on these recipes for all your meat-eating friends, and everyone would comment that they didn't know vegans could have it so good. My husband appreciated the personal accounts from Sarah and Tanya and the overall humor and liveliness peppered throughout. Excellent work.
