Summary: Who's got time to read - Listen to this gem!
Review: I can't add anything that hasn't been said in the other favorable reviews. I purchased the audio-cassette version and recommend it highly. I listen to it repeatedly to ensure that my actions are in line with my goals. It's a great pick-me-up and a reminder to the listener that life is full of obtainable happiness.

Summary: Great directional help.
Review: After 30+ years of trying to figure out what I "wanted to be when I grew up", I found the answer through this book. Whether young or old, established or starting out, this book offers great ideas for anyone unsure or unsatisfied with the direction their life is taking.

Summary: The best book I've ever read on this subject!
Review: Finally there really is a self-help book that helps. Sher offers simple but effective exercises to "unleash" whatever has been holding you back from living your dream. At 49 years old, I think I've finally learned what I want to do when I grow up.

Summary: Boring....
Review: I could not wait until I finished reading it. I have ready many self-help books and this is among the worst. A lot of the chapters are repetitive. In my opinion, a lot of the exercises are boring. The only part of the book that I did find interesting was on the possible causes of buried desire. I must be different, since it appears that almost everyone else who read this book enjoyed it.

Summary: One of the best "self help books" I've ever seen.
Review: This book, and it's follow-on, "Live the Life You Love," are completely different than every other similar book I've seen. Most of them are all saying the same thing. But these books actually take you through practical examples and get you to the intended end result. Other books you read and say... ok, I knew that. What do I do? These books help you do it. They are truly amazing.

Summary: This book was wonderful!
Review: This was the best career-oriented book I have ever read. It helped me to discover the career that's perfect for me. It really changed my life!

Summary: Well-organized and very helpful; every chapter is good!
Review: In addition to the excellent counseling advice this book gives, I found it also extremely well-organized, which is not always true of self-help books. I originally had intended to merely skim the book, but I found nearly all the "exercises" useful and ended up reading it rather slowly, so as not to miss anything!

Summary: A Great Book from a Wonderful Person...
Review: Barbara Sher knows about what she's talking about, and if you are feeling lost and alone and uncertain about yourself and your place in the world, then this book, along with all of her other fantastic titles, will be of help to you. Her advice has worked wonders for my life; she has even called me personally and offered advice and assistance. Buy her books, today...

Summary: Best one yet!
Review: If the title of this book is how you feel, then it's a must-have! The exercizes are invaluable, and really do help tease out what you want to do! I have tried several other career-oriented self-help books, but this one is by far the best if you're feeling blocked or stuck!

Summary: Practical, realistic, and uplifting
Review: "Wishcraft" knocked my socks off many years ago. While this didn't pack the same punch for me, I still recommend it heartily as a follow-up to the previous book: she builds upon its insights to offer eminently practical help for discovering what you want in life. I like Sher's approach for two reasons: (1) she makes it clear that achieving what you want in life doesn't necessarily shape itself neatly into "career" (a common mistake in career and life-planning books), and (2) she recognizes that not everyone has one GRAND passion; some people are generalists by nature, and that's just as valid (and achievable!) a way of life. Her down-to-earth and realistic approach is refreshing, and she makes no extravagant promises. In fact, her books WILL change your life -- but only because she's shown you that you know what you're looking for, and just need some practical guidance about how to find it!
