Rating: Summary: WHITE LIES Review: A master piece expose of the corrupt and evil dairy empire. Factual and to the point, backed with scientific data implicating dairy to multiple human diseases. A most reed.
Rating: Summary: great ! Review: At last someone has written an entire book dedicated to this subject! I started finding out about the disadvantages of drinking pastuerized milk in 1999 from a book called "The Tao of Health, Sex and Longevity" by Daniel Reid (available from Amazon).Reid concluded that milk actually curdles in the stomach and makes other food indigestible, and also pasturization destroys all enzymes and nutrients in it. Since that book, I stopped drinking milk and my complexion got better, and the acne disappeared. Also i used to have stomach problem (keeps having diarrhoea after drinking milk), and that disappeared as well. And now more and more doctors are coming out with the same infomation on milk. Dr RObert Young, a microbilogist (author of "The pH Miracle") says from his study, says the biggest misconception of society is that milk, being a calcium product, will give us calcium. It has been concluded now that this is not the case. Milk, is actually bleaching calcium from our bones, not putting calcium into it. Dr Young says milk contains lactose, which is a sugar in the body, and when sugar is released into the bloodstream, calcium is used by the body from our calcium reserves in our body (eg the bones), to neutralize the acids of the sugar. Moreover, Dr Young does real live blood analysis, and he says if you look at your red blood cells after drinnking milk, you wont be happy, as it makes the red blood cells stick together and fill them with bacteria and toxins. And studies done in the 1980s already showed that people who drink milk each day, have the weakest bones of all, while people who drink less or avoid it altogether invariably have stronger bones. Anthony Robbins in his first book "Unlimited Power" also cited the same research result in 1986.FOr those who are interested, read the other books as well as they support the information the author is saying.
Rating: Summary: It doesn't get any better! Review: Because dairy is used by millions of people, the truth, and nothing but the truth, is imperative so consumers can take educated responsibility for their health. The public has been lied to by the Dairy Council, the FDA and Monsanto Chemical Company as respects the bovine growth hormone, including those who are willing to be "funded" to spread the lie. People like the famed late Dr. Spock tried to tell the world about milk. Now here comes Robert Cohen after years of research and concern for public health, with the courage to tell us the truth and nothing but the truth. And with brilliance mixed with compassion for human life he says it all. This book is the bible of diary and everyone should read it if he or she has thoughts of consuming it or has loved ones to protect. It took courage to write this book and give the true facts on such a commonly used product. We now know how much the public has been lied by those who are there to protect our health. We are all in the debt of Robert Cohen.
Rating: Summary: About Benner Review: Benner cans this book and says that Soy is worse than milk. Here is what Benner says elsewhere on Amazon: "...my point is, don't think you can compromise with pasteurized dairy if you can't get raw dairy. Pasteurized dairy is very bad for you, for so many reasons. Probably worse than any processed soy product." The guy makes it up as he goes along. This book on the other hand is underpinned by relevant, fully cited, references to research documention that anyone can look up for themselves and test for themselves. Benner's rantings are not verifiable by anyone.
Rating: Summary: Lacking content Review: I recently became interested in learning more about milk when I stumbled upon a website claiming that milk is horrible for you. I ended up purchasing this book so that I could learn about the dangers of milk. I was disappointed with this book, because it is not a very good introduction to the topic. It is a short summary, and although references are given, the book lacks explanation for most of the symptoms listed. This book would be more appropriate for children/teenagers. If you are looking for a thorough and convincing investigation into the hazards of drinking milk, this is not your book. At least, it didn't convince me. Also, in my opinion, the price for this book is about twice what it should be.

Rating: Summary: Milk doesn't only taste bad... Review: I've just finished my PhD in maths. While relaxing I decided to surf in and review this great book. I stopped drinking milk about 3 years ago. I used to drink whole milk because I found out about the chemicals used to get the fat out. Anyway, why keep drinking something that tastes bad and makes you feel 'sticky'. Now I'm leaner, feel better and happier. What more can one ask from a dietary change? I decided to buy the book out of curiosity and I found it very interesting and informative. I'll give some information contained in the book which can help you even if you don't buy it. Basically the author started out investigating the difference between rBST milk and 'normal' milk. Well the difference is about %26 increase in IGF-1 for a start. If you haven't heard, IGF-1 is a growth hormone (or Insulin Growth Factor 1 of 5) which can help grow cancers cells as well as normal cells. The FDA says that the IGF is broken down by stomach acids. Now it doesn't take a genius to know that milk buffers stomach acidity, ask mum, i.e., your mum knows better than the FDA. Also tell her that there are numerous publications on the link between IGF and breast and ovarian cancer to name a few. The shocker is that the IGF-1 content in normal milk is the same magnitude as the free IGF-1 in an adult. So why waste money on steroids?
Rating: Summary: he whole truth about cow's milk and dairy... for all ages Review: Mr. Cohen has synthesized the essence of his 580 page NOTMILK.com WEB site, and the companion HUNGERSTRIKE.com (on rbGH shots given to cows to make MORE milk for a glutted market) into a delightful easy to read book that covers diseases from A to Z... and the milk/dairy elements that can cause those problems. Each alphabet letter has quotes from a wide range of respected scientific journals that support the statement he makes for each letter. For the dairy consumer with medical problems... read, heed, abandon dairy... and perhaps get better (or well) for free. If you cannot pass the NOTMILKmans quiz at ... you DO need this book. By the way. I have been off all milk and dairy for a bit over three years now... and my case of terminal prostate cancer now grows three times more slowly without the bovine-provided IGF-1 growth hormone (one of 59 bioactive hormones in milk and dairy). Just one of many reasons to consider dairy NOT a taste to die for.
Rating: Summary: Not Science - Buyer Beware Review: Succinct, enjoyable, quickly assimilated - a gratifying and possibly life-saving read. This book provides a fun and quick overview of the evidence and allegations against cow's milk. Don't be fooled by the cover and title, this book is too technical for young readers, although they'll enjoy the pictures while an adult absorbs and relates the information. For those unfamiliar with the huge and undeniable body of evidence against cow's milk, I hope this book to be an eye-opener that leads its readers to further research the topic for themselves. Every statement in this book is followed by a solid reference; mostly science journal references. Being only an overview, the volume of references in "Milk A - Z" touches only the tip of the iceberg. For those familiar with the mound of studies about milk's dangers, this book is a great overview, and brings up at least a few new points to nearly any health conscious reader. Because the evidence and number of studies against milk are so overwhelming, I've found it difficult to even begin to recall or portray all of the allegations to those uneducated. "Milk A - Z" will be a great book to have on hand for every friend or patient I attempt to begin educating about milk's dangers. My husband and I both plan to keep a copy out in open view on our desks at work to open the eyes of all lookyloos. "A - Z" even has a fun quiz at the end. I'm going to give a copy of this book to my child's school. They've already been resistant to my bringing in science journal studies to refute the milk propaganda they give my kid annually. I wonder whether they'll shelf this book? Linda Folden Palmer, DC Author "Baby Matters, What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Caring for Your Baby."
Rating: Summary: Compelling and comprehensive review of a national concern. Review: The author has passionately described in great detail the thing that most people do not want to hear. Cohen is attacking the the first cousin of apple pie, Mom, and the flag - milk. We all have drank it for years and most don't want to think about giving it up. However, if Mr. Cohen is correct (and I believe he is), you have a responsibilty to yourself and your family to test it out. Mr. Cohen is fighting an uphill battle, but I believe he is causing a groud swell of the population that is taking health into their own hands. The Wall Street Journal's (Aug 3) front page talked about the surge of non dairy milks (soy) and it's continued growing popularity. Read Mr. Cohen's book (stay with it, it isn't easy reading) and you will become convicted to research this topic even further. sjc
