Summary: You Want To Know This
Review: The Secret War is one of the best books I have read, John Loftus and Mark Aarons did an outstanding job putting the treachery of our government in perspective. I bought several copies of this book to pass on to others wanting to know truth.The resouce and notes sections are absolutely the best. Half the book is notes, and they are as important as the story. This is another book that should be in every American home-AND READ!

Summary: sound scholarship, fascinating material well told.
Review: The title is deceptive. The actual story is how the entire Western alliance was betrayed from within. Stellar personalities such as the Dulles brothers, one of them the head of the CIA and the other at one time to be Secretary of State, together with Rockefeller, contrived to supply the Nazis with desperately needed oil which made their war machine able to function.

Summary: Very Interesting and revealing even if only partly true.
Review: There are many events that occur in this world that, at the time of their occurrence, are not well understood by the public at large (often because of deliberate mis information being released by the governments involved). In addition, the individuals who make decisions regarding what to do, especially in time of war, do not want to compromise the sources of the information they used to make their decisions. This book does an excellent job of presenting detailed background information, much of which is supposedly gleaned from "old spies" as to some of the information, and dis information, used by various individuals to make very momentus decisions that related to foreign policy and the conduct of war. While the title of the book is somewhat misleading (a better title would be "keep the oil flowing and the US supreme in the Middle East)
the discussion of intelligence, counter intelligence, and personal biases holds your attention. The main weakness of the book is relying on the word of unnamed "old spies", however the book is well footnoted for further research if one was so inclined.
The revelation that the British still have a desk at the National Security Agency at Ft. Meade, dating from a World War II, whereby the British can wiretap US Citizens (without a court order), and then share the information from that wiretap with any US Agency (under another WWII agreement still in force relative to sharing of intelligence information), thereby allowing a US Government agency to obtain wiretap information on US Citizens without getting a court order is especially interesting.
I would recommend the book to anyone who is interested in the world of foreign policy, intrigue, and intelligence methods.

Summary: Important for understanding the world situation today
Review: There is one important point about this book which I believe most readers have missed. Loftus is really telling us here something about the origins of Islamic terror, about the Wahahabi regime in Saudi Arabia's adoption of Nazi propaganda in its war against the Jews. This war against the Jews has become a war against the West. Loftus shows how the Dulleses' and the State Department contributed to the policy of covering up for the Saudis. This policy has led to US concealing the fierce anti - US policy of the Saudi educational system.In other words he gives the roots of Sept. 11, 2001 in which fifteen of the terrorists were Saudi nationals. Even today the war on terror being conducted by the Bush administration throughout the Middle East makes a strange exception in not taking on one of the major bankrollers of terror, the Saudis.
Loftus correctly identifies the enemies of the Jews as the enemy of human freedom. And he indicates that failures of the whole Western espionage system have contributed to this. This book was written well before 9/1`1 and is prophetic in sensing that it might come.
Loftus book is implicitly a wake- up call to the people of the West to begin to understand who their enemies are, and work in a forceful way to defeat them.

Summary: History You'll Never Get in School
Review: This book details the consistent anti-Jewish and anti-Israel efforts of a series of American and British notables using information from the archives of all the intelligence communities. Some of the names that come up for serious indictment are: Allan Dulles, Nelson Rockefeller, W.A.Harriman, Henry Kissinger, Jack Philby (father of the British mole Kim Philby)and a host of other well knowns. It documents the blackmailing of FDR by King Ibn Saud for continued oil supplies at the outset of WWII in exchange for FDR's 'neutrality' on immigration of Jews into the Mandated Territories in Palestine. It also describes the key efforts by Allan Dulles and Rockefeller to maintain material supplies to Nazi Germany via their American clients. Dulles' role in securing many German war criminals save haven in the US and South America is also documented. It is important to note that there are 115 pages of references and notes to support the accusations enumerated. Though this book is in print for seven years there has never been a libel or defamation suit brought against the authors. They quote such statements as that of Justice Goldberg: "The Dulles brothers were traitors". The authors clearly show how the public image that many of these covert anti-Israel celebrities polished was at total variance with their behind the scenes actions. Kissinger for one deliberately withheld vital information and supplies from the Israelis at the start of the 1973 war because he thought it would be good for them to "get their nose bloodied". And it was Gen.Alexander Haig, not Nixon and Kissinger, that saved the Israelis with timely armaments to turn back the massive tank attack the Egyptians had mounted in the Sinai. Anyone who wants to see how individuals with power can subvert the principles of our democratic nation must read this book again and again.

Summary: Pure fantasy
Review: This book is nothing but fantasy. The authors laboriously cite "authorities" for their various outrageous claims, which authorities are rarely more than citations to anonymous or unnamed confidential "sources." It is hard to tell which is more offensive, the extreme paranoid fantasies presented by the authors as "fact," or their expectation that readers will somehow accept their repeated citations to phantom "authorities."

Summary: A Wake-Up Call
Review: This book is now (Spring 2001) perhaps more timely than ever. With Bush Jr. in the White House through a judicial coup, and already waging an attack on Labor (OSHA ergonomics standards abolished), fabricating an energy crisis, crudely spurning multilateral diplomacy (rejection of South Korean and international attempts to engage with North Korea), the return of Negroponte and Reich to high office (having fully supported and protected the war criminals we supported in Central America, leading to at least 200,000 murders there), the erasure of new arsenic standards in water (which would only have aligned us with standards already in effect in Europe), and even a recent attempt to abolish all testing of Salmonella in school-children's food--it is no surprise to see the roots of this corrupt administration in the Bush family legacy of deception and vicious, unbridled greed. Loftus' and Aarons' book documents the involvement of many American leaders of industry and politics in, among other crimes, the rise of Hitler. It is now widely known, and well-documented, that Prescott Bush was one of the crucial supporters of the Thyssen-Flick German industrial complex that brought Hitler to power. The role of the Dulles brothers, Rockefeller, and many other "heroes" of the Cold War in aiding and abetting genocidal dictators the world over, including our arming of Saddam Hussein and Ghaddafi, is well-documented here, and... the many footnotes alluding to confidential interviews do not mar the integrity or documentary solidity of the book--indeed much of what is suggested has been now released in other declassified sources, and the authors' arguments are very solid when tested against recent revelations. One very important caveat bears emphasizing, however,...where the Vatican was mentioned as being involved with the Fascists. Despite the clear involvement of certain fanatical cardinals, Loftus and Aarons state very clearly on page 140 of the book that Pope Pius XII probably svaed more Jews than all the Allied nations combined. This is a crucial matter to note, when it has become routine to crucify this Pope, whom Golda Meir referred to upon his death in the warmest possible terms as a friend of the Jews. The real enemies are here diplayed: those who will sacrifice all human and social value for the sake of power and profit, and then have the diabolical gall to speak of "compassionate conservatism." The Third Reich is gone, but the Fascists are still with us--indeed among us, leading us into further acts of structural violence and institutionalized "benighted self-interest."
