Summary: One the World's Worst Books
Review: How can this poorly written piece of sap be considered a classic? The hopelessly over-sentimental plot and characters made me want to lose my lunch- in this case, the musical beats the book, hands down.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A super-good read!
Review: When I finished the 1500 pages of this book, I wanted to immediately start reading it again, which is the highest praise possible on any book. Forget your experience reading the abridged version in high school. Read the unabridged version and enjoy Hugo's expansive tale of good and evil in a Paris long gone. A marvelous book.

Summary: Perfect in every way shape and form.
Review: I began reading this book about a week before I left on a school trip to NYC. I could not put it down! I found myself neglecting chores to sit and read. Although let me submit a fair warning to all. This book is truly a romance novel, it is not, how it is often portrayed, a war novel. It does incorporate much of the French Revolution, but in all honesty in it nothing but a spectacular romance novel. The twists in the plot are sure to set your mind a spining, not only entertain (as many books merely do) but rather touch your soul and possibly inspire you. This book is to good to go a lifetime with out reading.

Summary: FOR THE LOVE OF A CHILD
Review: There were so many main topics in this book it got confusing but this one , who Fantine loved Cosite so much , was my favorite of them all.

Summary: the book is awesome
Review: My cousin loved the book and the movie came out so I thought of her. Then while I was out in Rohde Island I asked her about it. It sounded awesome!!! She let me watch the movie that had the songs in it and I fell in love with the book. So she let me barrow it and it is so good I can't begin to describe it!!! Read the book, you wont be dissapointed!!!

Summary: A Hopeful Glance at Life
Review: It took me three months to read this book...and I loved every minute of it!!! I couldn't tear myself away from it. Victor Hugo portrays the characters and their lives in such a way that it brings hope into my own. The action parts kept me enthralled, while the digressions kept me intrigued. Every aspect of this book offers something unique to the reader. Everyone should read this amazing book!

Summary: Intriguing and Fun
Review: This book is amazing, in that Victor Hugo develops the charecters to perfection, it is an adventure and its well worth the long time it will take to read. The reason I only gave it 4 stars was because sometimes it jumped around and that made it slightly confusing.

Summary: One of the greatest works of Western Literature
Review: Never having seen the musical, I became interested in Les Miserables after seeing the recent movie release starring Liam Neeson. The movie definitely captivated me, but nothing could prepare me for what Victor Hugo's novel had to offer. Hugo describes his characters so much in depth that after reading it I felt almost as if I actually knew Jean Valjean. I felt as if Marius were my own brother. I felt like I knew Cosette almost as well as I knew my girlfriend. This book is nearly impossible to put down sometimes. In addition to the captivating story line, Hugo adds his own commentary on the society in which the novel takes place, so that this is a great social document at the same time as it is a great novel. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good book. Hopefully, you will enjoy Les Miserables as much as I did.

Summary: Absolutely Incredible!
Review: This book is wonderful, and the character development is phenomenal. No one should go through life just seeing the musical... And this unabridged edition is definitely the best!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A good book
Review: It was a very long book, but I think it was pretty good. You knew the characters more deeply than in the movies, and also got a little more insight on some of the characters. However, sometimes Hugo did push a little hard on some of the descriptions, such as the 50+ page biography of the bishop who is a very small character, and the battle of Waterloo and other spots. Once you get past those little tidbits, though, the story is absolutely wonderful. It is quite interesting to see a little bit more of each character and get involved in the story. I thought it was a bit boring in some parts, but overall, it was a good book.
