Summary: One of the worst books I have ever, ever, EVER read
Review: Usually I enjoy reading book. Usually. But in this book my interest just fell apart. This is the first book in years I had to FORCE myself to read. (It was required for school). The style and narrative were completely absurd. Many chapters had nothing to do with the chapters before and after it. In short, the book wasted words. Thus, the narrative got lost and left me COMPLETELY UNTOUCHED.

Summary: An attempt to bring light on a "dark" issue.
Review: Being a rather high-standard reader I could not help to feel outraged by this book. A true example of a simple book, it only helps the English student if he were to write a paper on vernacular and slang usage of English in literary works. Considering the success it had in U.S.A., I should compare it to the French interest in Realism that ended as fast as it started. I do believe it is a leisure book, one not lacking, as a whole in deep moments, but having three sequences that could stirr some comment. I do fear that the public taste for such a book is drawn close by the easy level of English needed in order to read it and also the " exciting" things told there. Though the author intended to break a prejudice on Afro-American writers she did nothing but reinforce the believe that lasted for such a long time. Instead of wasting your time with such a pathetic display of " A Lover's Complaint" I suggest that you drink a bowl of poison and watch some of Hitler's best speaches.

Summary: this book helped me understand my feelings it is wonderful
Review: I read this book long ago and just recently became aware of its meaning. Sometimes it takes a while to sink in. "I know why a caged bird sings". It is because it makes them happy in an unhappy situation

Summary: Absolutely wonderful!
Review: What a great book! I am going into 8th grade and this was on the summer reading list. I started to read it thinking it would be BLAH but I thouroghly enjoyed it. Its very fascinating to learn about the discriminatory actions taken against this woman. Just to warn readers: some parts are revealing and disturbing, so be prepared!

Summary: A repulsive book!
Review: Angelou talks about her selfious childhood in this sickening novel. She acts like everything is horrible, but her grandmother owns a successful store that has no trouble with the Great Depression. At the end she acts like everything is all right, but she has a bastard child on her hands; she leaves the reader's spirit feeling crushed. Its success can be attributed to the fact that high schools require students to read this God-foresaken novel. Whatever happened to Plato and Thucydidies? Why does Maya Angelou pass for literature?

Summary: A Great poetic Flare
Review: I thougt Maya's autobiography was great, because of the poetic flare she added. I found many parts to be exciting and many to be dull. But they were always interesting because it was poetic.

Summary: It is a must read!
Review: It was a great book, and the way it leaves you hanging on the last sentence waiting for more is great! I loved it soooo much!

Summary: A little too wordy, but an overall good book
Review: I never normally would have picked this book to read, but in my school there is the dreaded summer reading. The first three or four chapters go by very s-l-o-w-l-y and are very wordy. But to my surprise, the middle and end of the book end up actually very interesting. If you like books about real people and true stories, I'd definitley reccomend it to you.

Summary: I think this is just a great book
Review: This is a very beautiful book with lots of hidden meanings in it. I loved reading it because it was like you were living her life, good times and all, and when she cried, you cried, when she laughed, you laughed with her. it's a book that i think everyone could relate to in some way or another. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading and can relate to a great writer. I loved the ending. it seems that everyone remembers the ending, so it leaves you with a great quoter, "you don't have to think about doing the right thing. if you're for the right thing, then you'll do it without thinking." though it was meant a differnt way in the book, anyone can change it to suit them and relate to it. you'll find that it's right in every aspect.
