Rating: Summary: Great Learning Tool Review: This book offers easy to read and understandable content. I was able to understand the concept behind the Language. I feel this book will be most helpful to use as a reference when creating Web Sites!
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This book was a really good read. It was easy to understand, and the authors throw in a little humor to keep you laughing. I think that this book is great for people who want to make their own web page and want to do it themself.I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Very Helpful...In Some Areas Review: This book was a very good HTML guide for most aspect of creating a site. Some areas, however, they did not explain very clearly. In the Frames section, for instance, they did not have a very good example, and it was very difficult to suceed in this area without checking other HTML books. The Forms section was great, except they didn't show you anything much about how to recieve forms. This book was humorous, and quite informative. A definite buy for any beginner in the world of HTML coding, IF you ignore some of the weak areas.
Rating: Summary: TOO HARD Review: THIS BOOK WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND AND TOO COMPLICATED>!
Rating: Summary: Very Basic, not for the serious Review: This book, like some of the other "Dummies" series, contains useful information, but it's hidden among the jokes, wisecracks, and other verbosity. I just wanted a quick, painless and efficient way to learn HTML. This book makes you spend too much time to learn too little. When I read it, I find myself scanning and filtering the text to read only the information, and skip the "Captain Neato" stuff. (the cartoons are good, though!) I'm sure it's a good introduction if you are the type of person who wants to learn very basic HTML a little at a time amongst friendly conversation, but if you want to learn serious HTML productively and skip the goofiness, I would recommend a different and more thorough book. The book also has a habit of introducing examples of code with features before explaining what those features are (like tables), so you can't fully digest the examples without reading the chapters ahead. It also spends time talking about "cool" things you can do with HTML, but then explains that either the features are depreciated (scheduled to drop off in future releases of HTML, so you may not want to use them), or cautions you with other reasons why you may not want to use them (such as using graphic lines or buttons instead of the standard html tags for these features. This in itself isn't bad, but just contributed to the amount of info to wade through to get basic proficiency. There are other ways to learn this level of HTML, such as viewing source of public pages, web sites devoted to HTML, and maybe even your browser's help documents. I think the book could use an update, since the level of info seems very basic, and more targeted to producing personal or informational pages, not very targeted to today's commerce or other transactional sites.
Rating: Summary: A lightweight intro Review: This is a beginners book, and it's perfectly ok for that. You won't become a real html writer by reading this book, but you will be ready for more detailed books.
Rating: Summary: IT WAS GREAT Review: This is a great book if u wanna learn HTML if u dont like this book then u dont really like HTML
Rating: Summary: If you buy this book, then you ARE a dummy! Review: This is the worst Dummies book I have read. The negative reviews above mirror my impression exactly: Illogical presentation, dry text with idiotic puns as the only "humor", no rhyme or reason to the structure of the book. Six million monkeys typing away on iMacs have a better chance of authoring a web page than a novice armed with this book. Useful only as a reference, and there are cheaper, more concise references available. This book made me angry that I blew hard-earned money on it. Not on the same level as the other Dummies books by a long shot.
Rating: Summary: A dull read, better books are available on the subject. Review: This was okay, but I think the CD on the back was the bes thing about it...having included a trial of Homesite 4. I found it boring to read (not that learning code is exciting, but still...), and couldn't finish. The code charts are helpful, but there are many other HTML books that are more enjoyable and better priced-HTML 4 Visual Quickstart Guide, for example.
Rating: Summary: This book is not worth buying for the amount it costs Review: To read this book you have to skip through the pages. They don't give good explanations. They don't tell you good information and explain anything. You should get HTML Goodies instead.
