Summary: Does LBJ know about this? Hope she has sense of humor!
Review: Just finished Cat Who Killed LBJ. As a long-time fan of Qwilleran and his fantastic cats, this was a MAJOR disappointment. The porn alone was off-turning, the cats solved NO crimes or picked up any clues (making KoKo look like a buffoon) and all the hero did was run around doing things that don't seem to have any connection to the crime at hand.
A major waste of time to read this book. Half a star.

Summary: An excellent PARODY
Review: The Cat Who Killed LJB is an excellent PARODY of the "Cat Who" series and I really enjoyed it, AND I'm a big "Cat Who" fan! Mr. Kaplow incorporated a number of recognizable "Cat Who" images and concepts into his story. He correctly identified the essence of LJB's characters and peppered his with the exact opposite traits. Kaplow's "Mr. Q" has all sorts of sexual thoughts, foul language, encounters with obscene and disgusting characters, and some very questionable "friends". His plot has as many bizarre twists and memorable characters as a Jimmy Buffet novel. Yes, there is plenty of foul language and bathroom/bedroom humor. Yes, these are not the nice, pretty, pleasant people that you find in the LJB stories. Yes, it is seamy and scummy and disgusting. That's what makes it such a good PARODY of the "Cat Who" series, and when evaluated as such, it is a true gem. DON'T expect it to give you the same feelings that you get when you read a "Cat Who" novel - it should do the exact opposite, regardless of whether you like the "Cat Who" books. So, who wants a "Walnetto"?

Summary: Witheringly funny
Review: This short novel gets passed around my frat like a sort of comic Holy Grail. (I'm here in Cornell.) Whenever somebody is blue we read passages aloud, particularly the fantasically risque scenes. It's a genuine piece of subversive literature, the kind of thing Terry Southern and Grove Press used to publish in the Sixties. It's certainly not for everyone, but anyone with a satircal sense of humor will love it. It's practically the Boy Scout Handbook in this fraternity. Long may it wave its "offensive" tail!

Summary: Disgusting
Review: I expected this book to be in the same spirit as the other "Cat Who..." books--humorous and light-hearted. I found it to be disgusting and extremely misleading. I agree with the reviewer who said her copy was going into the dustbin. Mine is already there.

Summary: Superb Valentine's Gift!
Review: Received this novel for Valentine's Day. I'd never read a Lilian Jackson Braun book (nor do I intend to), but my girlfriend told me this book was hilarious. She's got a sense of humor about equally as demented as mine, and she was right. I loved it. It's outrageous and completely over the top and I loved every page of it.

Summary: Even Funnier the Third Time Around
Review: I'm on my third reading of this sharp-witted parody, and it gets funnier and funnier. I'm picking up more of the references, and I can see how cleverly the whole thing is constructed. This may be the funniest book I've ever read. I can see why some people might it "offensive", but I think the purpose of art and humor is to challenge our values, not simply affirm them. This book rocks!

Summary: The Cat Who Killed Lilian Jackson Braun
Review: Wish I had read the reviews before buying this book. Thought it was trash, Usually give books I don't want to Public Library but will be burning this garbage. Only read first and last chapter but that was more than enought for me to endure. I found it was nothing like the wonderful books Lilian Jackson Braun writes and wish I had never heard of it. Would like to rate this book a minus 5 but the computer wouldn't let me , that is the only reason It got 1 star.

Summary: SLY, WITTY, AND SHARP PARODY
Review: This book is just what the doctor ordered! I've been in bed with the flu for three days, and this little gem cheered me up completely. Delicious. Clever. A fitting tribute to an author whose staggering mediocrity astounds the soul.

Summary: Pitiful Parody
Review: This sounded like great fun, but turned out to be a major disappointment. I found the writing disjointed, the plot garbled, the character(s) insulting and the ending a cheat. In stead of getting a sly, witty take-off on the Cat Who series, I got a mean-spirited dig at another author's success. Who needs it?

Summary: PARODY! PARODY! PARODY!
Review: To the legions of quaking old biddies who find this book offensive: read the title: it's a parody! It's not a fan letter. And what's so appealing (to this reader anyway) is that the parody is broad enough to satirize popular fiction, mysteries, small towns, Philip Roth, Laugh-In, Dashiell Hammett, George Bush. If you want to laugh outloud, this is the book for you. If you're looking to send a Valentine to Lilian Jackson Braun, then buy her some chocolates, not a sharp-witted novel like this one.
