Review: Every part of this book is contrived, I did not feel any sympathy for any of the characters at all.
Not even a good romance here. Would not have read past the first page if not reading for a book group. We may get 2-3 minutes worth of discussion our of this book, if that!

Summary: Not too shabby!!
Review: I'm not a huge fan of the whole "thriller/horror" genre. I do like Patterson, however. He brings his characters to life...you empathize with them...you KNOW them...rather than just running behind them in the woods prior to the head-chop.This book is wonderful. He brings that same empathy, and character development to another realm, or genre...and still leaves you wondering "what if" at the end. All men should read this...Patterson seems to have a window into women...and we should learn from it...apply it to our lives...realize what we have...or maybe ...what we are missing.

Summary: TOO CONTRIVED!!
Review: I had high hopes for the book as the jacket said it was a best seller. Boy was I wrong! I felt the story was too contrived and that the author was forcing me to feel the pain Katie was going through. The character's lines were so bad I felt like it was torture for me. I normally get weepy over beautiful love stories but this time it was like Patterson was forcing me to cry. I found myself skipping a few pages since I was bored out of my mind. I read this in the plane and was done in less than 2 hours. I'm sure Patterson's other works are good but this one was really bad. It's so bad that I am embarassed to have the book lying in my room. Read it and see if you'll agree with me!

Summary: Corny, but touching
Review: A big departure from Patterson's normal fare, Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas was a touching love story. I found myself thinking "no man can be this perfect"; however, reading something positive and uplifting about men was a nice change from the lieing, cheating, and irresponsible ones we normally find in relationship stories. I found the term "aren't we lucky", or "isn't that lucky" to be a bit overused, and it made the novel corny in parts. However, the story was a fast read and entertaining, and our book club overall enjoyed it.

Summary: Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas
Review: Wow! What a change of pace for James Patterson! I've always been a fan of Mr. Patterson's and I'll admit that after reading the jacket of this book, I had my doubts about whether or not I'd find this novel believable... 10 pages into the novel, I had no doubts! I read the novel in one afternoon because it lived up to the "can't put it down" description that so many novels claim. The characters were wonderfully developed, and watching the change in Katie's feelings as she gets to "know" Suzanne through the diary was a masterful study in human behavior and emotion. Matt's tormented character could pluck the heartstrings of the most jaded reader, and Suzanne....well, you just have to read the book to understand her part in this novel. I laughed, I cried, but most of all I thoroughly enjoyed this novel! I was so impressed with Mr. Patterson's ability to write in the person of a female with such completely convincing authenticity! To sum it up: BUY THIS BOOK!!! Or borrow it....whatever you need to do to read it....You won't regret it!

Summary: Leave the Happy Ending from the Dream
Review: As everyone probably now knows, this is a different fare for James Patterson. There are no spiders coming along, no girls getting kissed, the all too perfect Alex Cross is nowhere to be found, nor is the Women's Murder Club of "1st to Die" fame here. This book is also different from Patterson's non-series novels, such as "Season of the Machete" or "Cradle and All". However, don't let the title fool you or don't let some other reviews fool you, for this is not a romance novel. This is a novel about taking chances. One line that pervades throughout the book is "Isn't it lucky?". Isn't it lucky that Matt and Suzanne hook up on Martha's Vineyard. Isn't it lucky that they have Nicholas for a child. For this is a story about Matt, Suzanne, and Katie and the eternal triangle that they form. It is also a story about three decent people who, in a manner of speaking, find one another. The story is told in typical Patterson-like fashion. About one hundred short chapters of 2-3 pages each, alternating between first and third person narrative. The novel opens with Matt ending his relationship with Katie. There are differing ways to end a relationship: face to face, a telephone call, a letter. Matt opts for the face to face option but, by way of explaination, sends Katie a copy of a diary written by his wife Suzanne to their son, Nicholas. Wife Suzanne, you say? I thought that they were decent people? They are. Don't stop reading by page 12, read to page 300 or so and then judge them. While Suzanne remains fairly constant throughout, Katie's character certainly grows. And despite what you might think, Matt ends up showing us that all men, indeed, are not pigs. So, while there is no Alex Cross, no Gary Sonjei, no serial killers of any sort, Patterson delivers something just as good: a bittersweet novel of redemption of a sort. A novel that leaves us saying "Isn't it lucky".

Review: I thought this might be a nice summer read. What a disappointment! It is trite beyond belief. It really is beyond belief. If you love good writing, don't bother. I might have liked this when I was 13, but probably not then either.

Summary: A Beautiful Love Story for Parents
Review: This book was a total surprise from the pen of James Patterson. It was warm and tender and loving. I put it up there with "Message in a Bottle", "The Notebook", and "Bridges of Madison County". Perhaps if more people read this book they would understand the true meaning of love.

Summary: Very warm, but emotional story
Review: I read this book in three hours. I couldn't put it down. The story involves two women, Katie and Suzanne, and the man they both love, Matt. Katie and Matt are in love, but one day he tells her that he can no longer see her. Broken hearted, Katie tries to understand what went wrong, when a package arrives from Matt. Inside is a diary written by a women named Suzanne, for her son Nicholas. Suzanne is Matt's wife, and the diary unfolds their story together. By reading this, Katie is able to understand Matt in a way that is deeper than before. The ending of the story left me in tears. It is a heart-wrencher, but a must read for those romantics out there!

Summary: Did I mis-Read, I thought the author was Nicholas Sparks???
Review: I am absolute lover of a good mystery novel entwined with love and adventure. Besides being a James Patterson fan, I am also a lover of Nicholas Sparks (Message In a Bottle, A Bend In the Road) and John Grisham. When I read the last page of Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas I looked over at my husband and said "Honey, I seriously beleive Nicholas Sparks and James Patterson are the same person." This novel made me cry, laugh and reminded me to call my love ones to just say HI. I read this book from cover to cover TWICE in one week! Two Beautiful stories linked into one book with a touching ending. A true masterpiece. Seriously, though....Is James Patterson really Nicholas Sparks....Hmmmmmmm....Read for yourself to see if you agree...
