Summary: Didn't Quite Grip Me
Review: Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas is a good book that could have been a great novel. I enjoyed the story, but both the dialogue and tugs at your heart felt a little contrived. It lacked the emtional punch and depth of Shade of the Maple by Kirk Martin or The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. A pleasant escape, but if I had to do it over again, I would take a second spin around these other two books.

Review: I've been reading James Patterson's books for the last couple of months. I'm trying to get them all! I really like his style. Once I was done with the Alex Cross novels, I HAD to pick this one up because I was very curious about it.

I've read this book in a little over than 2 hours. I couldnt leave it. I couldnt do it without finding out what happened at the end.

I dont think that James Patterson has intended to write this book to get the literary award of the year, but it's a very well written. Don't expect to have too much depth of the characters, but it's there. You still feel like you know these characters, you feel like you've seen them before. Their descriptions are more than adequate.

The only reason i give this book a 4 is because I am not TOO big on romance novels and this story line, thous is very nice to read, is still a cliched love triangle of sorts. It reminded me of "Message In A Bottle" and of course of "Bridges of Madion County" which the author metions in the book.

I do recommend that you read this book to see the "other" side of James Patterson. I'll definitely keep reading him!

Summary: A so-so book...
Review: The mushy parts were too mushy & the tragic part was too tragic for my taste. It was readable, and with Patterson's short choppy chapters it goes fast, but that's about the best I can say about it!! Read it if you like sappy stories.

Summary: A definate suprise...
Review: I was amazed and suprised at this book...it takes you through a large range of emotions. I was truly angry while reading the beginning of the novel, only to find myself sobbing and smiling at the end. Mr. Patterson definately did a wonderful job.

Summary: I LOVED IT
Review: I've only read Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas twice at this time, but found it to be about a 3 hour read and both times, came away loving it. Initially I was a little confused about who was who and what was what. But the writing makes it easy to continue, and I was soo glad I didn't give up. An ultimate love story, tragedy and thankfully, a wonderfully happy ending. I want more!

Summary: Run and buy this book!
Review: Then, purchase a BIG box of tissues and prepare to be transported into the story. Once finished you'll love your children more fiercely than ever.

Summary: Sweet but Sad
Review: Katie Wilkinson fell in love with Matt Harrison, a repairman. She was extremely happy, until Matt told her he could not be with her anymore. Katie's heart broke, and she could not understand why she was dumped. But she finally begins to understand when Matt sends her a diary, called Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas. It was by a mother to her son, Nicholas. And Suzanne was Matt's wife before she died. After reading the diary, Katie realizes the reason for her having been dumped. Still, she went to look for Matt, but couldn't find him-until the day he came back to her. They got married, and once again Katie was happy.
I enjoyed this book because of the diary. I have never read about anything that had a diary involved-one that told of the answers-the key to unlocking something queer. It is almost like a mystery romance, and not a dumb fairy tale where the prince finds the princess and they live happily ever after. This story is more like the princess trying unsuccessfully to find her missing/gone prince who dumped her for no reason. And she is aided by a diary that comes to her. But she still cannot find her prince, and finally the prince comes back to her. Then do they live happily ever after.
My favorite part of the story is when Katie went to Martha's Vinyard to find Matt and she doesn't. Martha's Vinland seems like a wonderful place to be-peaceful and windy, a small community where everyone knows everyone else. When she visits Suzanne's and Nicholas's graves and she realizes that she would have liked Suzanne. That is so nice-usually girls and women don't like the rivals of their men. But Katie realizes Suzanne is such a gentle person. It is also the part when Katie sees Melanie Boone. I like Melanie because she seems like a sweet friend to have and be comforted by. Altogether, had I been Katie, it is a scene I would like to remember.

Summary: Magnificent Book - A MUST READ!!
Review: This book was so good - I read it in about 4 hours and have told everyone I know about it. It's heartwarming, though provoking and I absolutely could not put it down! It changed my outlook on life and I cherish my family more than ever.

Summary: Good Read for Irving fans
Review: As a die-hard fan of John Irving and the ilk of sad, exploratory, and introspective novels that showcase characters over plot, I found this book and the characters richly developed. Not quite at the level of a Cider House Rules, it nonetheless captured (and kept) my attention the entire way through. I will definitely read more Patterson after reading this book. I am sure many will find the book a bit "mushy" or romantic, so make sure you can endure a good helping of romance before picking it up.

Summary: Schmaltz at it's best...
Review: I read and really enjoyed James Patterson's book. I was given the book by a dear friend who just loved it and passed it on to me. I agree that the book does indeed impart some very heavy life lessons on what is really important in life and where our priorities should lie. My daughter lost her husband in his 30's to a heart attack 2 years ago and knowing what she has gone through makes this litany of learning a joy to my eyes and somewhat of a cathartic to my soul. You must pick up the shattered glass and move on with your life. I especially love the lessons of the 5 balls. What a classy way for the author to get is point across. Kudos to Patterson.
