Summary: One of the most remarkable books of the year...
Review: The maximum for this review is 1000 words. Based on reading this book, were James Patterson writing this review, it could win the Pulitzer Prize. Prior to reading this book, I tended to be prejudiced against short novels. I felt that they left insufficient time to fully develop the characters. Clearly my prejudice stemmed from not reading the correct authors.

This book deals with two storylines - the relationship between Matt & Katie and between Matt & Suzanne -- on two different time lines. While on the surface this seems like it could be confusing, it isn't. Within the first few pages of this book, Mr. Patterson envelops you in the world of these characters. You feel like they are people that you know, and with whom you can empathize. Because of the strengths of these characters and the storylines, you are enraptured.

I won't delve into what this book is about -- this is a review, not a book report. The synopsis of the book provided [...] accurately describes the storyline, without giving too much information or leaving you wondering what on earth they're talking about.

However, I will state unequivicably, that this is a phenomenal story that grips your mind and your heart from the get-go. Just when you think you know what's going to happen next or how things are going to turn out, you find that you're wrong. But don't worry, the ending is quite satisfying. I can just about guarantee that you will love this book. As a matter of fact, you will probably want to read it again and again.

Happy Reading...

Summary: Juggling Five Balls
Review: Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas By James Patterson 1/20/02

This is extremely different from what one expects as a subject of a James Patterson book. He still writes short chapters. And he still writes well, but some of his characters it this book are just too good to be true. My wife very much likes the book, which should tell me something.

Katie Wilkinson, who reads the diary and Suzanne who wrote most of it are two exceptional good women. It's the man, Matt Harrison, the poet in Katie and Suzanne's life that is too sweet to be believable.

Katie met the first Matt Wolfe, an old friend from school and a bit more believable than the Matt Harrison who she married. Matt Wolfe only showed up a couple of times in the book, but then he was not the marriaging type.

The coverage of Martha's Vineyard, the people, the houses, the town and the atmosphere is good enough that I felt like I was there. This book is a real tearjerker.

But there is something about a near death incident that changes your whole outlook. I think that the lesson of 'juggling five balls' covers it very well.

Summary: Good while reading, hated it afterwards
Review: I enjoyed the writing style of this book. It was easy to follow, (except for the two Matts). I did find it a bit confusing as to why Matt would leave Katie. Did he know she would come find him after reading the diary?? I stayed up late into the night to finish, and I was so depressed I coulnd't even go to sleep. Why write a book like this and then end it that way? To me it was very depressing. And that last line.... "Isn't it lucky"... well, not for Suzanne and Nicholas.

Summary: Weeping Wonder
Review: I have read each of James Patterson's novels and found this on to be his best yet...I myself had to quit reading towards the end to control my sobbing. I have never cried while reading a novel but this one was amazing. The emotions that you feel while reading make this book one you'll never forget.

Summary: Only if You're Romantic
Review: I just got through listing to this book and it was wonderful. I cried through the book. You guested it I am a Romantic. I would never have guessed that James Patterson could have written such a romantic and touching book after all of the other books that he has written are totally different and the opposite. So far all of his books that I have listen to are good. I am in aw, what can I say I loved it. You have got to read it or listen to it. Its good! What am I saying its wonderful. Read It!

Summary: Emotionally entrancing. Heart lifting.
Review: James Patterson has written a love story. About how good life can be if you find the right person. It's about treasuring every moment with the special one and about being thankful for what you have. A book about families, love, loss, new love and hope. His insight and feelings expressed were powerful. A tearjerker. I couldn't put it down. There was a shocker very near the end which left the actual end of the book a little anticlamatic but it had a happy ending and that pleased me. I couldn't wait to finish it but I didn't want it to end. You've got to read this!

Summary: Life changing book
Review: This is a beautifaul, touching, all encompassing book. You can't put it down. I have never read a James Pattterson book before, as I do not regularly read thrillers. I heard about this book, and new it ws a must read. It will change your emotional outlook forever. What a touching story--a page turner, and one that leaves you emotionally drained, yet emotionally filled. One of my favorites!

Summary: Another side of Patterson
Review: OK ... so those of you who wondered what James Patterson was doing writing a novel without Alex Cross may be afraid to take a chance,, I know that I was hesitant. This book is a fine example of what a great writer that Patterson is. Apparently based somewhat on some life experiences of his, this is a true page turner. As a man, and a Cross fan, I couldn't believe this was Patterson...BUT...I couldn't put it down. Yes, so it is somewhat of a "woman's book," ... but come on guys ,,, if you have a heart your gonna enjoy this as much as any Patterson you have read. 5 stars for James -- and his storytelling abilities...you have got to read this book!
