Summary: hold on holden
Review: I read the book The Catcher in the Rye a few months ago for extra credit at school. It is an extraordinary book and I'd recommend it to anyone. Another good book that is similar but a little more modern would be "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by stephen chbosky. If you liked the Catcher in the Rye you will most likely like this book.

Summary: Timeless
Review: The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger is a fantastically written novel. Any teen would love this book because it is written using language and thoughts they would understand and have. Once you get into the book, you can't stop reading. I even found myself thinking about situations from the book while I wasn't reading it. Already being a classic, I'd recommend this book to anyone who isn't too uptight or snobby, because they might have problems dealing with the use of some sarcastic, blunt words. 5 stars, buy it today.

Summary: just read...
Review: the Catcher in The Rye. i don't really know exactly what to say about this book. i picked it up for the first time in about the sixth grade and i've read it about four times since then. although i don't relate to Holden, the main character, as well as i used to, this book is a worth while read for anyone. you will fall in love with Holden, and feel good to recognize the underlying compassion he has under all that cynisism. i'm not going to write a synopsis because i'm sure you've read about a hundred of them already, but i tell you, read this book. i'm not a very big ready whatsoever, but i could not put this down. it offers a glimpse into the mind of a teenager in the fifties, who doesn't sound very different from a teen today. you will be moved, thats an order. give this one a try.

Summary: Probably the best book I've ever read.
Review: We had to read this for a school assignment, but luckily I had the chance to read it before we had to tear it apart word for word in class. I just couldn't put it down. What people do wrong when they read this book is that they label Holden's way of thinking as taboo, and begin to think of him as mentally ill or severely depressed. This book is not for everyone, because many do not understand what Salinger is trying to get across. But if you think you are open-minded, give it a try. I personally found this an amazing book that lays out the truth about the people of the world even when some people don't want to see or admit it.

Summary: Awesome!!
Review: I read this book for school, but i'm definitely glad this is the book they assigned us to read. It was absolutely amazing! As a 16 year old, I can personally say I relate to some of the things Holden has to say. The way he expresses what he feels, and the language he uses, are highly amusing, in my opinion. I thinkmany teenagers will find themselves interested in this book because many of the problems Holden has to go through, are things teenagers have to go through nowadays as well. All in all, this book is simply fantastic, and I recomend anyone who hasn't read it to goread it this instant!!

Summary: The most realistic book I've ever read.
Review: When I say realistic, I mean it. No phonies, no nothing. The book focuses on Holden Caulfield, a repressed 16 year old who just got kicked out of his private high school. This book was written and supposedly takes place in the 1950's with the "Leave it to Beaver" type families and rebellious teens. Holden is just an average teenager. But what makes this book interesting is that he brings a sense of reality into the world. He never goes to the movies, movies are phony. He hates phony things, but the truth of the matter is, he's a phony, a hypocrit. He despises phonies and yet he lies without shame, that's Holden. When you read this book, it's hard not relate to him. You want to meet him and have a good long talk with him. He's a real kid and not many books can show the truth in this. I can assure you with full confidence that this one does.

Summary: it ....
Review: the book is nothing but a democratic self centered view of life. i could care less about reading a book with a cry-baby wining about his life. this is the type of action that drags this country into the black hole of depression. if a book moves a person and it does not have the words holy bible on the front of it, it shows how lost the person it "moved" really is.

Summary: Hipsville, if you wanna know the thruth!
Review: Although I am not a very literary type, I just have to chime in with my 5 stars... One of the very most beautiful, humanly deep and touching novels I have ever read... But if you don't appreciate the wry wit and cynical look on phoneys that rock group Steely Dan has with its songs, don't even think about picking this up! For me, this is also the American equivalent of French novel genius from Quebec Réjean Ducharme's vision of childhood vs. the cramped hypocrisy of adults. Love at first read!

Summary: The Catcher and the Rye
Review: I thought the book was very good because it was so realistic that I was apalled at how people can live that way so depressed and frustrated. Holden was so depressed I felt bad for him. But I was surprised when he went to another school at the end of the book. The main thing that made me give this book a three was how he never had anything good say about anybody or anyhting. But I did enjoy the book and I would recommed it.

Summary: I don't get it....
Review: Okay, "Catcher in the Rye" is supposed to be the classic book and everyone supposedly loves it but come on! I almost fell asleep. I kept waiting for something to happen and yet nothing really did. I tried to finish this book but didn't because every time I picked it up I knew that it was going to be a total waste of my time and brain capacity.
The author had no word choice and the sentences were flat and dull.
I may be missing something but I didn't get the point.
