Summary: more then just a classic
Review: You might have heard of this book because a teacher assign this book for you to read in english class or whatever. I end up reading this book because i randomly choose it from a stack of book in a bookshelf. I needed to do a report on a book and i randomly choice this one. I didnt know what it was at first, because the version of the book i had only had the title on the front and nothing on the back to kinda tell me what the book was all about. I got caught in reading this book for hour when i read just the first page. It really interest me alot, this was the first book ever that i read which is about how a teenage boy really think of life, and this book tell it alll, it didnt forget anything! As you read the book, you'll learn to see how the character is and get to know him REALLY well and how disturbed this teenager is. Overall i think this is a great book to read. I would this book in my TOP 10 favorite book.

Summary: Catch My Eye
Review: "The Catcher in the Rye" Written by J. Salinger was a great book about a teenager with a foul mouth and a short fuse for a temper. The Setting was contrary to the bizarre actions of the main character. Though Holden Caufield was an overall outcast of his time, many of todays teenagers can really relate to his obscure way of expression. This is an extraordinary book and I would recomend it to everyone.

Summary: Book Review
Review: The book i read was "The Catcher In The Rye" by J.D. Salinger. This book was the best book i have ever read. The reason i fell this way is because usually i hate reading boooks. I usually cant keep reading any book for over an hour withourt taking a break but with this book, I couldnt put it down. The story was very detailed and also very interesting. The author was very good because he never kept you board or confused. I Liked this book because It was different. The author jumped from one thing to another and kept you on your seat. He also let you think that a certain thing was going to happen and it wouldnt and i liked that alot. "The Catcher In The Rye" was a very good book and i recomened it to anyone that likes or hates to read like my self.

Summary: This book will make you question yourself...
Review: Rare is the chance to hear someone really speak whatever comes to mind. The blatent honesty of Holden Caufield is what makes this book so interesting. Some people find it offensive, but really, that's what the book is all about. Holden would never not say something just because he's afraid that they would be offended. Just as when Holden says that people who get off topic are more interesting, this is the case. Holden never really has an obvious direction, but it doesn't hurt him because he is being true to who he is. Holden is the ideal person because he is completely honest. This book is for every person in the world because you will question yourself, your morals and your actions. That is so important and for most people it never happens. I recommend reading this as an adult as well as a teenager because if you can relate to it as a kid, you should also relate to it as an adult. Kids are so much more honest with everyone than adults. (that is why Holden can talk to Phoebe so easily). You should still be able to relate to this as an adult. If you can't, look deep inside yourself, because there are tons of ways to relate to this book. I don't want to give away too much of this book, but I have to tell you that you must read it. If you don't start questioning who you are as a person by the end of the book, read it again because there are so many questions that Holden asks himself that apply to all humans. This is definetly something to take seriously. It will really change your outlook.

Summary: The Three Days of Holden
Review: Knowing he will soon be expelled from prep school, Holden Caufield decides to leave early. His next three days are spent in New York City where he dwells on his emotional problems and his cynicism toward life. This book is unlike any other I have had the chance to read. J.D. Salinger is able to write this book through the mind of a 16-year-old boy in 1945. What is unique about his writing is that I can relate to the character's feelings in 2001. Salinger is an extraordinary writer. I felt as though I was a cynical young man in lonely and bustling New York City. I feel his emotional problems that are induced by the recollection of his dead brother and the younger sister at home he misses and loves. This passage from the book shows the problems he had with the death of his brother, "I slept in the garage the night he died, and I broke all the goddam windows with my fist, just for the hell of it." The way Holden describes it, he makes it sound like nothing, but you know that it is a serious problem. Laughter is inspired by Holden's description of his past roommates and there habits. Some whistle, some are slobs. No matter what Holdens emotions encompass, they are always easy for me to relate with. Salinger doesn't focus on imagery much, and little symbolism is used. Salinger uses figurative language to draw the reader into Holden's world. This is an excellent book for teenagers to read. In researching the book, I found that it has been pulled from the curriculum of several schools due to the language used in the book. The book was written in 1945 and uses several slang terms that would be heard in that decade. This is the only aspect of Salinger's writing that I found uninteresting. Terms like, "chewing the fat," and "sonuvabitch," are outdated and don't appeal to me. Due to the emotional content of this book, I feel anyone can relate to the problems of Holden Caufield. I enjoyed the book and I thank Mr. Salinger for writing it.

Summary: Random Thoughts on Salinger
Review: I thought the book was good, however it lacked a certain binding and it seemed like random thoughts jumbled together. The book captures a different time period. Holden was a smart, lazy, unfocused teenager. He was paying for it in a way that kids today don't. With grade inflation and lower standards in academics a Holden today would be managing alot better. I think Holden expressed himself in a weird interesting sort of way. His dialogue was a touch bit different and the way he expressed his emotions was different from most books I've read. The whole book aims towards the future but we never actually get there with Holden. We are left hanging without a neat Hollywood ending. I wanted to know more when it was over. Everyone is trying to change Holden for the better. We never know if they succeed.

Summary: This mirror dosen't seem to reflect so much crisis to me...
Review: I am sure you have heard the same story...forced to read "Catcher in the Rye" for a class assignment. Well, here I am two years after reading it for the first time, and I am doing yet another report, but this time by choice. I decided to read some of other reviewer's opinions and I was automatically reminded of what an excellent piece of literature we all have at our finger tips. J.D. Salinger has presented us with a piece of what I would call a semi-relatable novel, (at minimum). I can think of nothing more intriguing than being in the head of a cynical, wry, and egocentric 16 year old boy. Which is precisely why this is my favorite book.

Summary: One of the best of the 20th cent.
Review: Like most people, this book was assigned to me while I was a jumior in high school. I remember my teacher assigning us certain chapters to read for homework, but I became so involved that I read it in one night! I don't want to say anymore, just that I think that says it all. Everyone I have ever met loves this book.

Summary: What I believe is to be recieved from this book
Review: First off, I'd like to say that I'm a teenager and what people say about it telling about the "average" life of a teenager is almost next to being wrong. When I read the book I don't see a teenager's view, but a totally different view of society from someone who is very depressed. The character, Holen Caulfield, gives a very descriptive narrative of the things going on around him and how he percieves them. This book is different from any other story, with a weird ending I admit, as it is not covered in lots of fluffy type things that are unrealistic, but exposes a very real nature of his world.
