Rating: Summary: Ideal Book Review: 27 stories (there's a bonus one) fill up this pretty-pink book that is not at all filled with "pretty pink" writing. The stories are written with an erotic flair that doesn't stop from Dante Davidson's "Appraising Love" through Alex Mendra's "Zero-Sum Game." A wide variety of genres and fetishes are featured. My favorite story was "Vulcan Mindblower," about sex with an ex. The book doesn't pretend to be a high-brow collection of art-sex stories. These pieces are destined to turn you on...and you won't be embarrassed if you choose to read the collection on a ferry boat (as I did the other day) or subway, bus, etc. An absolute must for anyone who claims to be interested in erotica!
Rating: Summary: Alphabetical Schlock Review: A waste of time and money. Most of the stories are corny, self-conscious, and dull. Quite a few are so poorly written that they are just an adjective or two away from being inadvertently funny. Imagine (if you can) reading an erotic story in "Reader's Digest" or "Good Housekeeping." You can see it here first.
Rating: Summary: A Must-Have Review: After finding this title on seven different Listmania lists (all of which featured other authors or books that I enjoyed) I decided to go ahead and buy it. The book generally placed at #5 on the lists, and I think that's the perfect spot for it. (Others that I think would be mandatory include "Story of O," "Sweet Life," "Beauty's Punishment," "Menage," "Naked Erotica," and "Breaking the Girl.") This is the type of erotic collection that everyone into the genre should own. It contains enough stories that at least several almost undoubtedly will hit with each reader. The stories are by well-known writers of the genre, and they've all done a good job sticking with an appropriate style. As you might imagine, this is not a dark-sex collection. Just look at the cover! But the themes are universally sexy -- exhibitionism/voyeurism, spanking, domination, playing dress-up. My attention was held throughout, and I've already re-read several of the pieces. A definite purchase for any serioius collector.
Rating: Summary: Silly stories from A to Z Review: And that about sums it up -- silly formulaic [stuff] for people whose VCRs are on the blink and can't watch their fave porn video. Not exactly intelligent erotic reading. There are far superior collections of erotica out there. This happens NOT to be one of them. Save your money and don't insult your intelligence.
Rating: Summary: Lots of good stories Review: As with most erotic anthologies, I liked some stories more than others, but there are a lot of really great ones here. The opening story "appraising love" is a knockout!! Overall it's an awesome book and lots of fun.
Rating: Summary: Naughty indeed! Review: Filled with naughty/erotic stories, this anthology is a quick and good read. As the other reviewer said, it's not at all "hard core" but more subdued and therefore, less cringe inducing. If you like erotica, or are just starting to read it, I say go for it with this book. I'd recommed it along with "Breaking the Girl", "Menage", or "Blue".
Rating: Summary: Naughty Stories from A to Ohhhh Review: I bought this book as a Valentine's gift for a girlfriend and ended up having to order another copy for myself. It's a winner -- an engaging erotic collection of 27 short stories, some super-short, others a bit more indepth. My favorite pieces were by Thomas S. Roche (a voyeuristic story called "Curtain Call") and N.T. Morley's "Your Wish is My Command" (a girl-girl co-ed sorority auction-type piece). "Focus of Attention" by Shane Fowler was set in a Parisian sex club and features four different players, and "Vulcan Mindblower" is about a sexy drink and a sexier tryst between two ex-girlfriends in a neighborhood bar bathroom. There's an awesome range in the book, from threesomes to moresomes to all-out multiple menages. There are girls with girls, and girls with boys and girls with sex toys. There are one night stands sand long-time relationships. Best of all, the stories in this book are definitely risque without being out-and-out raunchy. They don't try to be literotica. They're much more hands-on than that. Oh, and they're banned in Texas! According to a letter printed at the back of the book, the collection was banned in a Texas prison system due to specific content. The whole book wasn't offensive, only the pages of girls with girls. Quite strange. But anyway a satisfying collection through and through
Rating: Summary: Spectacular selection of sexy stories... Review: I bought this book because of the cover -- really. So many "dirty" books have covers that make you embarrassed to have them on your shelf. The cover won me over, but what's inside was so shockingly different from the pink cover -- I was really pleasantly surprised. The stories are extremely sexy and very dirty. It's my favorite "naughty" book by far!
Rating: Summary: not that [exiting]! Review: i bought this book thinking that it was going to be [exciting} and hot. It seems as if the stories start and end fairly quick like i was disappointed!!!
Rating: Summary: These stories would have to be heated up just to be lukewarm Review: I bought this book, and was so disappointed that I came in here to warn others from making the same mistake. The day I got the book, I opened it up, started reading at A, and by the time I got to C, I had to put the book down - NOT because I was getting too excited but because the stories were so bad they were actually turning me OFF. I finally made it through all the stories, but only with great effort. They're horrible. The writing is lame; the stories are uninteresting and far from hot. Not even warm. Only a few of the stories got me excited at all. One of the key problems with the stories is that they are so short; they barely get going before they're over. The selection of stories is also unintersting. Further, the reviewer who commented that the author (and a few of her friends, or herself under several aliases) is reviewing her own books (and giving herself glowing 5-star reviews), is exactly right. Previously the reviews were all from Northridge, CA; now the author has apparently changed her place of origin and her reviews are from either Eugene, OR, and/or Athens, GA. I'm sure she'll change her city of origin as soon as she sees this, and I'm sure I'll get as many "not helpful" votes as she has Amazon accounts. Look at her other books to find the common grounds in where the reviews are coming from. I should have listened and I should have stayed away. Don't make the same mistake I did. Seriously, this book isn't worth your money, especially at $14.95. If it were $5, I might think, eh, it was only $5. But it's three times that, and it's a rip-off. Half the reviewers at Amazon have better a imagination and better writing skills than those displayed in this book. You probably do, too. Don't waste your time or money. Unfortunately there's not a lot of good erotica out there - and this one doesn't help.
