Summary: Surprise!
Review: I have read all of Chucks work, except for 'Choke', which is waiting on my bedside table. Anyway,... A survivor, hence the title, from sorta cult, sorta Amish family. Hijacks a plane, gets everybody off, and makes some starteling revelations into the black box. Interesting delve into a warped mans mind, and the book was good too.

Summary: Very Different from Fight Club
Review: If you're looking for another Fight Club, you're looking in the wrong place. This is not a sequel. It is, however, a completely different type of story that still imbodies Palahniuk's mockery of the American way and modern society. I absolutely loved Fight Club, and this book has the same elements in it that I loved so much about Fight Club. It is funnier than Fight Club (imagine that), and it is written in first person. If you like Fight Club (my first Palahniuk novel), then you'll love this book. Just read it, dammit!

Summary: Wow!
Review: How can a novel that mixes religious cults, media frenzy, public backlash, crisis hotlines, child abuse, slavery, poisoning, suicide and celibacy make sense? I don't know, but it does and in a most exciting, amazing way. Absolutely entrancing to read, Survivor is one of the best books I've read this year. Palahniuk is truly a gifted writer, able to write in reverse chronological order and bring it all together. Highly recommended.

Summary: WOW
Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read. Palahniuk is definatley the best writer of this generation. He is able to debunk society in a way that is not only intellegent but entertaining as well. Once you start reading this book you will not be able to put it down, it will be the most unique literary experieince you have ever had If you liked fight club you will LOVE this book. It is funny, and informative, and interesting and strange. It is so strange but you can't help but want to read more

Summary: Skip The Ending
Review: It's a quick read so the entertaining offbeat premise, and the wry observations this author is known for, make the time worth while.

But the ending is really disappointing. It just goes soft, as if he became bored with the story and got really lazy.

The ending totally lacks imagination and almost seems as if it was written by someone else entirely. Definitely doesn't do justice to the rest of the book.

Summary: Palahniuk's "other" best work
Review: "Fight Club" may get all the press, notice, and attention, but in many ways Survivor is its literary equal, and maybe even a better book. Once again, Palahniuk manages to pluck a few choice elements from the boiling stew of our mass culture - apocalyptic cults, the grotesquely rich, disasters in the air (along with just enough random-but-relevant facts that leave you wondering how the heck he KNEW that) - and weave them together into a compelling adrenaline ride of a novel that also happens to be thoroughly entertaining. I HATE reviews that end up being spoilers, so I won't say any more, other than to mention that it has all the twists, turns, and extraordinary events that one would expect from a novel by Chuck Palahniuk.

Is it similar to Fight Club in some respects? Yeah.

Is it a literary masterpiece, destined to become a classic? Probably not.

But is it an excellent book to spend a few light evenings with? You bet your life it is.

Summary: Testing, 1, 2, 3, testing
Review: This novel proves to be a wonderful take on the way educaiton system really fails to teach us anything we should or need to know, even the real facts are covered up. Highly recomended.

Summary: A pitch black comedy
Review: This books starts you clueless of whats going on in the books (even if you read the back you have no idea). Then as you go on you know exactly what's going on. Then after that you are on the rollor coaster of your life. You go throught a ton of drops, twists, spins. Then all the sudden the brakes slam and you go flying out a have no idea what's going on until the end. If you liked Fight CLub this is such a beger adventure thenn FIght CLub, but you can't really compair the two. They are both extremely good books.

Summary: Sadly this is NO Fight Club
Review: First I want to say that I enjoyed this book, I really did, IN fact I would definently recomend this book.

Now The problem I have with this book is that, no it doesnt compare to FIght Club..Why?? Well My simple reason is that what happens in this book is not plausible, it will never happen and is far fetched. Fight Club, could happen, I guess that is what makes it such a good book. I will never forget how that book, movie broadsided me.

This book doesnt it is predictable and unsuprising. Is it a good book? Yes is it as good as Fight Club? No. Lastly I want to say that Chuck Palahniuk is a great, great author and I look forward to reading any future books he might write..

Summary: How To Clean Everything
Review: Palahniuk is one seriously f-ed up writer. That doesn't mean that he still cant write. While I loved Fight Club, I found Survivor just as good. The one thing I like about Palahniuk is that, while some authors tend to rehash the same plotline, story, and ending, (*cough* Grisham) Palahniuk manages to create something new and original every time. Fight Club was about anarchist overthrows funded by soap sales. Survivor is about Tender Branson, a man who's the last surviving member of the Creedish Church (or, as it's referred to later, "The Old Testament Death Cult"). He's all alone in an airplane about to crash into the Austrailian outback. However, before the plane crashes, he reveals everything in the plane's black box recorder, from his growing up within the Creedish Church, how to get blood stains out of carpet using common household items, to becoming a buffed, to being the last surviving member of "The Deliverence", to becoming a steriod-infused media conglomerate, to his on-again, off-again relationship with Fertility Hollis. He'll reveal the truth about the Tender Branson Sensitive Materials Sanitary Landfill (aka The PornFill), the "Deliverance", the stadium tours, the autographed Bibles, the Genesis Project, and The Book Of Very Common Prayer. I don't want to give away too much, but Palahniuk's sense of humor, in this book, Fight Club, and so on, is very f-ed up with his dark takes on society, and brings to light stuff you've thought you've known for a long time and does a complete twist on it. The ending's also a shocker, too. It's not quite as intense as Fight Club's ending was, but it's one of those "the exact opposite of what you think is going to happen" endings. This is a great read if you're a fan of dark fiction. I can't wait to see if the movie's going to be as good as Fight Club...
