Summary: A sweet tear-jerker
Review: Do you ever feel the need to cry, but aren't able to? If so, this book is great for that purpose. A husband, Gerry, dies at a very young age, leaving his wife, Holly, to face the rest of her life alone. Before Gerry died, he sent his wife an envelope to be recieved after he is dead. The envelope contains 10 smaller envelopes with short messages written inside, one for each month of the year following his death. Each note gives Holly some instructions on how to keep herself moving forward. Most of the book is in real time- Holly dealing with the aftermath of Gerry's death, with some flashback scenes of Gerry preparing the notes. These scenes are so tear-wrenchingly sad and sweet (but not sappy), all at once. They really moved me.

I also liked the ending- not to give anything away- but I thought it was going to end with all the loose ends tied up, happy ending-like, which felt wrong for the story, but thankfully the book ended more as a beginning for Holly.

Summary: Not too bad.. but not good either
Review: was very excited when I bought this book and couldn't wait to get started. Within a couple of chapters I wanted to stop reading it. It was just too much work trying to get through this book. Repetitive, immature, and predictable were words used to describe "PS, I Love You" and it is dead on. Never seen so much of the word "sarcastically" used in one book or have the characters "roll their eyes." Experienced writers have a way of conveying their characters' feelings and emotions without having it thrown in your face so many, many times and clearly, an experienced writer, she is not!

Though shallow and corny at times, there were moments when I felt for Holly and wanted to cry with her - but other than that I felt it was just a big waste of my time.

Summary: Perfect mix of humour and emotion
Review: I was amazed to read that this is the first novel of Cecelia Ahern, because it was amazingly well written.
Great approach of the different feelings of the main character.
Simply I book I just couldn't put down and which you can easily add to your favourites.

Summary: Enjoyable (3.4 on a scale of 1 o 5)
Review: "PS, I Love You" is an entertaining and enjoyable read.

Holly, the thirty year old heroine, lives in Dublin and loves her life. Then fate delivers a brutal blow: her beloved husband dies and leaves her a very young widow.

The book recounts Holly's first year after her husband's death. His final gift to her is a series of notes to be opened at the beginning of each month. Each note contains one suggestion to help Holly move on with her life. And each note is signed "PS, I love you."

The book is quite moving as it depicts Holly's struggle to follow her husband's suggestions-give away his clothes, take a trip with her friends-and continue living. She realizes that her life had centered almost completely on her husband--not necessarily a good thing-and now, for the first time, she has to create a life for herself.

My only complaint with the book is that I found the writing amateurish at times. The plot, the characters and the ending were all satisfying and fully developed. However, I winced at some of the writing.

Still I would recommend this book to chick lit lovers everywhere.

Summary: Disappointing read, but the list idea is great!
Review: I admit I'm not a fan of Bridget Jones. But I love Mariann Keyes and Carole Matthews if that helps! I was curious about the hype for PS I Love You. Probably shouldn't have read it after 'Crow Lake' and 'The Five People You Meet in Heaven', though. Ms Ahern's writing is very ' clunky': even amateurish in places. I know she's 22. And publishing a debut novel at that age is a huge achievement. But then Zadie Smith was 21 when she wrote White Teeth ..... (I think!)

I loved the idea of the list. Thought that was so original. But something never clicked for me as to why list making was so important to their relationship. Was Holly disorganized? She didn't seem so ...

Sharon and Denise were great! As was the funky baby sister with her pink hair. The secondary characters were the reason I finished the book. Holly, the heroine, never seemed three dimensional to me.

Honestly? I couldn't recommend it. Sorry!

Summary: Elementary
Review: The first chapter or two - simply delightful. As you keep reading, you get the sense that the author became quickly bored -but clearly not as bored as the proofreader. Grab a copy just to spot the many misspellings. The book is very schizophrenic between American spelling and English. Humor, humour; mom, mum; color, colour - peppered throughout this book, marking it as a terribly put together piece of work. The story quickly becomes very mundane and drags on with irrelevant fillers. The only reason this book went into print, was through obvious nepotism - the author is the daughter of Ireland's Prime Minister. My main reason for purchasing this book (although now I kick myself for doing so) was to have a lighthearted book to read through in one evening. Unfortunately, I spent more time trying to figure out why the grammar and spelling were so off. The author has a degree in journalism, but left to write this book. Clearly she wasn't cut out to write at all.

Summary: If you have ever loved...
Review: I loved it. Yes, it is chick lit. True, it may not be one of the literary wonders of the world. And yes, it may have clichés- but I loved it. Anyone who has ever been in love needs a reminder not to take that significant other for granted. We all get wrapped up in our daily routines and forget that person may not always be there. Is it so wrong to be reminded to say "I love you" more often?

Summary: Great read!
Review: I have to say that I really liked this book! It really took a different look at coping with the loss of a loved one. The story follows a character, Holly, who recently lost her husband at a very young age. The book follows her and her close friends through the year that follows. Holly has received notes from her husband, one for each month, that are intended to help her move on with her life, in a positive direction.

I was amazed how on one page I was crying and at the next I was laughing, and two pages later crying again! My only disappoinment with the book is that the age of the author can be seen in some immature aspects of the book, such as the partying and drinking of the characters. However, it is still a great read, and I would recommend it to any female looking for a unique, quick read!

Summary: brilliant, suprising.....I love it
Review: How can an only 22 years old woman write such a fabulous novel? I don`t know...but I love every single page of this book.

This book is written in a wonderful simply language but touches every heart in a very special way.
I never thought it is possible to write a novel like this ( with an issue that is not taken from all day life)by such a young woman. I always thought, there has to be muchg more experiences in life to make the this story reliable. Ahern describes the feelings of the figures with an suprising accurateness, the reader allmost can feel with them.
To cut a long story short: This book is a MUST for every woman in every age!!!
P.S the author is the daughter of the irish prime minister

Summary: PS, Not As Bad As They Say...
Review: Unlike many of the other reviewers, I thought this book was so cute! What an entertaining and fun look into the life of a young lady who thought she had lost it all. With the help of good friends and a thoughtful husband, she was able to live her life again.

I thought the plot of this book was so unique and just down right cute. It might not have been very realistic but isn't that what fun books are all about? Letting yourself travel down a road that doesn't exist in real life. It's fun to get away every now and then.

I look forward to reading more by Cecelia Ahern!
