Rating: Summary: This book is very, very bad. Review: Not much else you can say. It's simply not good. The idea of the plot is ok, but it's poorly executed, the writing is awful, the charactors aren't well drawn, and the dialogue actually hurts as you try to read it. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Avoid it.
Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTEY WONDERFUL!! Review: Fantastic chick-lit book with a twist.....I loved this book!! It was a quick read and extremely entertaining! I can't understand why people did not enjoy it, but take it from me (as a chick-lit afficcionado (sp?)), this was WORTH THE MONEY!! FANTASTIC!!!
Rating: Summary: lame Review: such lame and sophomoric writing--should have known when all the publicity was about whose daughter she was instead of her talent.
Rating: Summary: I'm so "shocked" I want to "cry" Review: oh my, this was painful to get through. I only did it because it was a bookclub pick. If I had time on my hands I'd go through and count the hundreds of times characters "laughed hysterically" or were "shocked" or "tears spilled". Such juvenile writing, and no inner substance in the main character. The only well-plumbed depth of feeling related to the sense of loss, but other than that, it felt like writing for a bad sitcom. If you're at all interested in this book, save yourself some money and check it out at the library as you won't be wanting to keep it on the shelf.
Rating: Summary: Don't Waste Your Money orTime Review: This book was on the up and coming table at Barnes & Noble; the jacket certainly sounded great. Indeed, it was the plot that led me to assign this one star instead of zero (but you can read the plot in the summary and be done with it). Two chapters into the book I checked the "about the author" to discover who wrote this awful book that read like a high schooler's creative writing assignment... it was no surprise to see that she was the 21-year daughter of Ireland's prime minister. Only with connections could such a book have been published. Poorly written, superficial characters, way too many adjectives... this book belongs in the teen section.
Rating: Summary: THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE LISTENING Review: Cecelia Ahern, the 22-year-old daughter of Ireland's Prime Minister, has a way with words - both written and spoken. A conversation with her is included in this CD edition - what pleasure it is to hear her lilting voice as she remarks on the bittersweet story she has written. UK actress Victoria Smurfitt offers an ultra pleasing delivery of Ahern's debut novel in her classic easy-on-the-ears voice. All in all, this CD is a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience. What can happen when high school sweethearts marry? Surely they expect to live happily ever after. But, this was not the case for Holly and Gerry. He died too soon; Gerry fell victim to brain cancer at the age of 30. Desolate, bereft Holly does not know how to cope with such grief. However, Gerry has left her an unusual legacy - a packet of 10 envelopes, one to be opened each month as she works through the painful days of widowhood. She does have friends who offer support, but these letters and her responses to them are the crux of the story. - Gail Cooke
Rating: Summary: P.S. I Loved It Review: This book so captured my emotions that I didn't want it to end. What she wrote about the main character losing her husband is exactly what I will go through if and when that ever happens to me. For a first time novelist she hit it out of the park. I can't recommend to everyone I know because of the swearing (I know I run in very traditional circles) but to those who can handle it this is a must read.
Rating: Summary: FIRST GOOD BOOK I HAVE READ IN A LONG TIME Review: I loved this book. It made me laugh, cry. I became addicted to reading this novel..It has been a long time since I have read a quick fun read like this! I recomend this to anyone who is looking for a great novel.
Rating: Summary: Loved It! Review: I absolutely loved "P.S. I Love You". I didn't want it to end, ever. Holly and all her friends make you laugh one minute and then cry the next, like a rollercoaster ride. I loved it so much I passed it around to the girls at work and they are enjoying it to. We hope she writes another one soon, or makes a movie about this one. For a new author she sure does have a sense of humor and definitely a following.
Rating: Summary: Author has potential. 3 1/2 stars. Review: This author has potential. I really liked the general idea and storyline of the book due to its creativity. The writing is a little forced and often not very smooth. I enojoyed this book better than some others in the chick-lit category as it was a little bit less predictable.
