Summary: Excellent resource for life
Review: This book brought back to the forefront of my mind the rules for living. I keep this book by my bed, and reread a little bit every night. I have found it extremely helpful to me, reminding me about the important things in life. Just visually seeing the book on my night stand both in the morning and when I go to bed, help me to focus on the positive things in my life, which help to make me a better person. I'm now reading If Love if a Game, These are the Rules, which, I'm sure, will be just as valuable to me, as this book.

Summary: Rule 1: ACKNOWLEDGE GOD
Review: This is a great place to begin any book about life. The Four Lessons I would include are A. Praise and Worship; B. Tithing; C. Prayer; D. Service. Acknowledging that there's a Force in the Universe greater than us has been of tremendous benefit to millions, including those in 12-step programs, Christians, Jews and Muslims. This would strengthen Cherie's system immensely. Being filled with God's presence is such a gift that makes life on this earth more joyful and rewarding.

The question is what do you receive when you practice these four lessons. You receive God's power, which is more powerful and abundant than your own, and which makes things go easier in your life. From where is the eneregy for you life coming?

Summary: Truely an eye opening book for anyone of any age or sex
Review: Cherie Carter-Scott has written an excellent interpretation of the rollercoaster of life and has truely touched on the lessons that need to be learned in order to stay on track. Although I am a young male reader, this book has truely opened my eyes to my world and how I should attempt to live it. Reading this book I have found a peace that I have never known before, and a peace I am sure anyone who takes the time to learn lifes lessons as presented in this book will find. It truely is a remarkable work touching on the basic truths which govern our lives.

Summary: LEARN LESSONS, FOLLOW PURPOSE -- WHERE'S GOD?
Review: "If LIFE is a GAME..." is a deeply spiritual book which makes a strong contribution to the idea of finding one's purpose in life, and to learning the lessons along the way. It's the connective tissue to living. Learning lessons is a part of living. What I am curious about is what has Carter-Scott learned about God? For a book with such a spiritual basis, little is said about the Divine, or our relationship to Him. What was His role in creating us? Or in designing our curriculum? And how about other people? How does our giving to others affect our lives? While acknowledging the role of God and others, this book reflects a self-centered appoach to life, talking about my lessons, my judgments, my purpose. Nor does she say anything about visualization. Her comments about judging others were very helpful. Her question, What do our judgments reveals about us, is worth asking. Judgments always boomerang, so why not understand what they say about you. She has dedicated this book to her readers who have followed her rules in their lives. And the cut-out on the back-flap was a nice way of rewarding their efforts. Each chapter has four principles (except for chapter 10, which has three) which includes a discussion and a anecdote from Carter-Scott's past. It's a nice mixture that makes for an enjoyable read. Her tribute to her sister Lynn on p. 127 was very touching, and reminded this reader of how important other people are to enhancing one's life.

Summary: Simple but Profound
Review: I brought a small book for light-read recently. It's extremely simple, insigthful and the most important, cheap. I like this book very much. No theory, plain talks, still very profound.

Actually, I would like to have this for my bed-time reading, but now, it becomes my companion during my long trip on bus. Fabulous indeed.

Summary: An excellent handbook for life
Review: Chérie Carter-Scott's book is truly wonderful. It is set out in the form of chapters and each chapter elaborates on one of the basic ten rules which should govern our lives so we can live it to the fullest and in the best way possible. The writing style is smooth and captivating with real-life anecdotes and stories used to stress a certain point. That in addition to inspirational quotations at the beginning of each chapter or part make the book even more exquisite. I am one of the lucky people that have met the author and her wonderful optimism and joyful and friendly spirit all appear in the pages of her book. Although we all know the virtues in life, it is the lack of practice of these virtues that has vitiated this world. If we could all guide ourselves by Cherie's ten rules like the Ten Commandments, the world would be a much better place.

Summary: a credo for secular humanism
Review: Certainly the book contains some valid principles, or else it would not be as popular as it is. However, how a book can claim to teach spiritual lessons, but never even acknowledge God? It is humanistic philosophy that espouses that we alone can better ourselves. A close look around us shows that left to ourselves, we have made a mess of things. We MUST rely on Someone higher than ourselves. Also the advice the book offers is quite simplistic, not very deep. Very easy reading.

Summary: A great, well-written book of life!
Review: I loved this book. It is filled with practical, common-sense guidelines for getting through life. Instead of just reading this book, try to apply it and see the difference it can make in your life. I especially liked that it is a well-written, easy-to-understand text book for being human that one can read in just a few hours. Thank you Dr. Carter-Scott for bringing us all back to the simple basics!
