Summary: Summer Sisters
Review: Judy Blume just has this knack for getting it right. She understands what it's like to be an awkward kid growing up and an over-hormoned kid growing up and she takes these two characters from puberty into teenagers into young adolescence to adulthood with the trials and tribulations that go with it. I think any female can relate to some aspect of the story.

Review: I can't describe this book much past that it completely captures the emotion of friendship and the drama that seems so incredibly overwhelming.

Summary: Bringing Memories to Life
Review: This book was very enjoyable. Judy Blume can still pull me in at age 29! The last time I read a Blume book, I was probably 15 or 16. 14 years later, she still writes in a way that captures great memories. The characters were brought to life and very realistic. Even if it is a cliche to write about the popular, rich, beautiful girl befriending the quiet, poor girl, I thought Blume did it in a style that made it extremely realistic. This is a quick read that leaves the reader wanting more.

Summary: Great book for teenagers!
Review: I am a 14 year old girl in Augusta, Georgia. For me reading usually isn't the number one thing on my list. But while reading this book I never wanted to stop reading. This book was wonderful! I wish there was a sequel. Even though this book is 400 pages it only took me a week to read it, which would normally take me about a month. This book has taught me alot about growing up and the things you do. That is why I think it is a great book for teenagers to read. I was proud of myself after reading it because it was one of my mom's books. And parents, get your teenage girls to read it, because I feel that I have matured alot since reading it. I hope you and your kids read it. It is great! I didn't want it to end!

Summary: Summer Reading At Its Finest
Review: Escape to the beach and meet Caitlin and Victoria; Martha's Vineyard Summer Sisters. This complicated and tumultuous friendship gives way to event filled summers that will have readers glued to their seats. The friendship that these two young ladies share will put you in a mindset of those summers you spent with your special friend. You'll search your mind to remember your "summer sister," and feelings that you haven't felt in a long time begin to resurface. As usual Ms Blume entertains with a fast paced story that will have you laughing, crying and wondering why the story had to end.

Summary: Mediocre at best...
Review: I loved reading Judy Blume whne I was about 13 - 14 years old, and even though her once - loved titles (such as 'Are You There God') seem utterly childish and silly to me now, I was excited to see she had some books meant for grown ups. I've read the first few pages here, and the story seemed like a nice one - about 2 childhood friends and how this relationship keeps changing as they grow up.

The book starts off in the 'present' - when both girls are 25. Caitlin announces to Victoria that shes planning to mary a guy named Bru. This news upsets Victoria so much that we start to wonder who Bru is, and what are the relationships between these 3 people.

Unfortunately, only the beginning is this intruguing. The book is pretty much predictable - 2 young girls become friends. The ugly duckling overcomes her hardships and becomes a success story, while the 'princess' turnes out to be a totally [messed] up person, who marries her friend's ex - first boyfriend... The character development of the first summer is pretty good (which is usually the age level Judy Blume writes about, by the way), but as sumers go by, the story has less details and is harder to read

Summary: I excellent quick read...
Review: I read this book my senior year in high school. I had loved Judy Blume as a child and figured I would give this book a look at. I love to read, but only when I find a book I enjoy. I have stacks of books I have bought in the past, thinking they looked interesting at the time, but never read. Summer Sisters is not one of these. I loved it. I read it in only 2 days! It was exciting and the characters very much come alive. Blume writeS so well that every word adds to the movie playing in my mind as I read it. I spent one summer in Martha's Vineyard, which also added to my enjoyment. I recommend it to anyone who finds it hard to find a good book, but enjoys stories about growing up, friends, loves, etc.

Summary: summer sisters
Review: I read this book and then skimmed through it again. It was so depressing and degrading to the sister called Vix. She was portrayed as a doormat and after loving a man for that many years, would not have been so forgiving to another person for wisking him away. Seemingly she was supposed to be lucky in finding a romance with Gus, but the author should have developed that more. It would have been a much better story if the author had Caitlin explain her self a little more. I keep trying to understand ...What was her problem?

I would like to ask the auther to explain several parts in the book, as I will never understand them, and ask that she write a sequal, that would finally bring Bru and Vix together again.
This book made me so disgusted and dissatisfied with the outcome that I would truly like to correspond with the author and find out some answers. Don't read it, if you expect to feel satisfied with a good story. It was a let down.

Summary: Fabulous!
Review: I was so relieved to be reading this, especially after a disaster of a book I was struggling to get through. As a teen I read and enjoyed other JB books (Deenie, Are you there God, it's me, Margaret), so I figured this would be a good read. Talk about a page-turner! It was like reading her teen books, but better! It was so easy to read and the story of the two friends through their life was fantastic. I found myself reading into the wee hours of the night, wanting to see what would happen next, but also not wanting it to end. This is a great story for a weekend and also great to share among your best girlfriends. You will laugh and cry all the same. Don't pass this one up.
