Summary: I couldn't put this book down!!
Review: This is the first time I've read a Judy Bloome book. I am hooked! Its easy to read and understand. Its just the kind of book you'd like to read when you want to relax and be entertained.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Entertaining summer fluff
Review: I'd actually give it 2 1/2 stars, but Amazon doesn't have an option for half stars, so two it is.

It took me about 5 hours to read this book, it is definitely not challenging, but the main characters are engaging. I think one of the greatest appeals of this novel, for me, was the fact that it took place in the years of my own childhood, with characters that were just a few months older than I.

If you are looking for an entertaining but simple read for your vacation, this is the book to get.

Summary: Her best work yet!!
Review: I read this book in one sitting, and I absolutley loved it. It represented what young women with everything and nothing at the same time go through. It was a marvelous ride back into my childhood. I recommend it for everyone. In any age group. Enjoy!

Summary: A typical summer read, not too much effort required.
Review: My fourteen year old daughter read it first and was thrilled. While she was truly drawn into the characters, I found I was exhausted by them. Thank goodness I don't have to live their lives. The characters of Caitlin and Vix were flat, the male characters short changed, the storyline pure summer plot with little thought provoking images. The best part of the book was discussing it with my daughter so we could point out the good, bad and ugly!

Summary: It was worth the sun burn i got trying to finish it!
Review: i brought "Summer Sisters" to the Jersey shore with me on vacation.....and it was worth the sun burn i got while trying to finish it before leaving the beach. The characters were fresh and story was entralling. I grew up almost during the same time period that the book took place, so I identified with the events of the time. I also found it very interesting that it took place on the Vineyard since the tragic Kennedy disaster brought it into the news so recently. It made the book more realistic. I can only hope there is a sequel. Thanks Judy! A devoted reader, Dena.

Summary: Fantastic, moving
Review: Judy Blume has been in my life since I was a child... From "Tales of a fourth grade nothing" to "Forever". She has been through my life with me and seems to almost always mimic it in her books. This book was great, I couldn't put it down. I loved it!

Summary: A great story of youth and summer friendships.
Review: This was the first time I'd read Judy Blume since I was a child (Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret). I really enjoyed the book and flew through it on vacation, then gave it to my best friend (we met as girls on the beach 30 years ago) to take on her vacation. The characters and their experiences reminded me so much of my youth. It was a fun step back in time. After I finished, I thought a lot about the characters and their relationship.

Summary: Close, but not completely there...
Review: This book no doubt mesmerized me until I finished it (a day & a half later). It brought back a rush of feelings from my youth, the ones that make me appreciate being an adult... Although I did think this was a GREAT book, I just felt like the reason there were so many synapses on what the charachters were thinking was because Blume didn't really delve into who Vix & especially Caitlin really were. Definitely a light, fun summer read...

Summary: A Great Story of Friendship for Teens of Early '80s!
Review: This book brought back so many memories of when my best friend and I were spending our summers together in early 80's. We were exactly the same ages of the main characters and this book was so "representative" of the termoils of "coming of age" that time. The references to songs and events brought back further memories. This is definitely NOT a book I would recommend for someone of my mother's generation, but for someone brought up in the 80's, it's a good summer read! I laughed and cried through the whole thing! I won't give this one away, but I've recommended it to all my friends! A definitely to read again next year on vacation to Martha's Vineyard!

Summary: Enjoyable read!
Review: I had seen this book around when it first came out, and I was a bit hesitant about buying it. I wasn't sure if it would hold my interest for 400 pages, but I was wrong. I recently borrowed the book from a friend, and read it within a week, which is very fast for me. It was really intriguing, with lots of juicy details. It was hard for me to put this book down. I really enjoyed it. I recommend it, it's a fast, and a very enjoyable book! When is Judy Blume's next adult novel coming out? Is there one?
