Summary: A quick read but ultimately unsatisfying
Review: I was really looking forward to reading this book. I enjoyed Judy Blume books when I was young, so I had great expectations for this one. I was really disappointed. I didn't find any of the characters likeable, or real. The relationship between the female characters was just weird. I don't know of anyone who acted that way with their friends when they were young. Blume is known for her HONEST approach to sexuality; The honesty was lacking. Granted, the older the two characters got, the better portrayed they were. But, overall, it was unrealistic. I couldn't identify with these two characters. The big secret in the plot turned out to be very mundane. I was hoping for something more intriguing.

Summary: a good book
Review: It was an extremely good book, but i feel that some of the sexual scenes were a little too graphic and had nothing to do with the plot. still...a page turner.

Summary: Entertaining, Engaging, Enigmatic
Review: I came home from work, needed a book to read at the gym while I bicycled, and picked this one from the stack that I had just ordered online. I finished "Summer Sisters" that night. Everybody has had a Caitlin in their life at some point. It's interesting to note that if it had not been for Caitlin's family, then Vix would probably have turned out like her (Vix's) sister Lanie. This book was reminiscent of my young adulthood when I read everything by Judy Blume. "Summer Sisters" was the first adult novel that I have read by Blume, but it will certainly not be the last. She's wonderful!

Summary: This book is GREAT!
Review: I thought this book was so good that I read the entire thing on a Saturday afternoon. Judy Bloom knows how to make her readers feel like they can connect with her characters so well. Anyone who has read ARE YOU THERE GOD; IT'S ME, MARGRET, will love SUMMER SISTERS.

Summary: Take it or leave it
Review: I was really excited that Judy Blume came out with another adult novel, but after reading "Summer Sisters," I feel like I definately could have done without it. The storyline is very intriguing- what a great idea to have a book full of secrets, deception, and growing up. Most of the novel is an easy, effortless read. However, some parts were just too graphic and after reading some of them I remember thinking "Too much information! "

Bottom line- Not the best book in the world, but it is definately not the worst, either.

Summary: A realistic exploration of youthful sexuality
Review: I have to admit this is the first Judy Blume I've read (my generation grew up with the Nancy Drew). However, I am familiar with the themes and controversies that have surrounded her work. She's done it again, this time at the adult (twenty-something)level. This book tore at my heartstrings with young, sexual angst abutting parental ineptitude. For the reader who thought much of the sex was unnecessary - she/he missed the whole point. Caitlin was controlled by the obsession and power of sexuality. A power so strong it eventually brought her life to ruin. All girls handle their sexuality in different ways - something else that was nicely handled in this story. Caitlin flaunted it, while Vix more privately mixed it up with love. What I feel detracted from the story was Harvard. Ever notice how everyone in books, movies and TV geared to young people wants to go to Harvard, goes to Harvard and graduates from Harvard? Gag!!!! Why didn't Blume pick MIT or any other fine Eastern College?

Summary: Capitivating!
Review: This novel is written in true Judy Blume fashion; an absolute page turner. This novels takes you on a walk through life that is related to your own life every step of the way. Judy Blume wowed me as a younger reader and this book showed that same flare to me as an adult reader. Highly recommended reading!

Summary: This book was wonderful and suspenseful.I read it in 2 days.
Review: I could not put this book down! I read it in just two days. The way she portrayed Vix and Caitlin's friendship and summers together was remarkable. Not a detail more was needed. I enjoyed her books as a child and now I can continue reading her novels as an adult. I look forward to reading more of her adult work.

Summary: Judy Blume can always make you see yourself in her books.
Review: I haven't read a Blume book in years... boy does she still have it. This one was just as great as all her others. I finished it in two days and was awe-struck. Judy has a gift in her writing that makes you feel for her characters. Vix and Caitlan made me remember how special your first true friendship was. The exploration...the fun and mostly, the innocence. I now have a longing to go to the beach for the summer...or at least for the day. I look forward to her next book and have ordered some of her oldies to re-read from the bookstore. If this is your first time reading Blume's work, make sure you check into her previous books. Judy if your reading these... Thanks for making me feel normal and human.

Summary: Blume has done it again!
Review: This was a magical book about friendship and sisterhood that every woman should read. I loved Judy Blume as a kid and it's wonderful that I can also enjoy her writing as an adult.
