Rating: Summary: A Real Page Turner, I Couldn't put it down Review: I have been a Judy Blume reader since I was 11 years old, I have read all her books from the teen series to the adult books. I was so excited to see SUmmer Sisters in the book store I had to buy it. I read it in 24 hours cause I couldn't put it down. A wonderful story about the coming of age of two very differant girls who become lifetime soulmates. This story is about the search for love, family and making the right decisons in life. I recommend this book to any women who has ever had a friend who you just couldn't forget about because of all the memories you have had. I'm giving the book to my best friend for her birthday.
Rating: Summary: I loved it because I could associate with such a friendship Review: I have alot of her books and each time she writes a new book it gets even better. I had a friendship like this where I was like Victoria in the book and though the friendship is not what it use to be like when we were children. We both have our own kids and so I am one of the kids godmother though I always ask for them we don't talk about anything else. I think everyone should read this book.
Rating: Summary: Good, thought provoking story Review: I was looking for a light, easy read. After finishing the book I couldn't stop thinking about the characters. I lent the book to a friend so we could talk about it. I found pieces of myself and people I knew in each character. If you've ever had a dear friend, been a child of divorce or had a first love I think you'll like this book.
Rating: Summary: not a winner Review: Generally, Judy Blume has a fine-tuned ear for the nuances of language and angst of young characters. I have been less impressed by her "grown-up" novels (i.e., Wifey). Here she succeeds with neither the teenaged characters nor the adults. I was very disappointed, as was my 15 year old daughter. We are both fans of Judy Blume, but not of this book. Summer Sisters lacks plot, character development or much interest. One of the characters describes herself as just selfish and spoiled--and indeed she is. Sorry, but that does not make for a good read.
Rating: Summary: Disappointment Review: I was a big fan of Judy Blume while I was growing up, so I couldn't wait to read Summer Sisters. I found this book to be hard to follow without much plot. Although it is an easy read, I thought I would never get through it. I couldn't make myself get interested. If you really want to read it, save your money and wait for the paperback.
Rating: Summary: Judy Blume can do much better than this!!!! Review: I am a fan of Judy Blume and believed she had a remarkable way of getting inside a character to make them real, interesting and worth the read. This book is disappointing. You don't develop any real attachment to any of the characters and by the end of the book, which is disappointing in itself, you'll be glad to be done reading.
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: I thought this book was great! I love Judy growing up and like her other books, I could not put it down, finished it in 2 days and I was sad when I did...I can't wait to pass it on to my friends...
Rating: Summary: Entertaining with no real literary value Review: I enjoyed all of Judy blume's young adult books when I was younger. Now that I am older (and so are her characters) I have higher standards which this book doesn't necessarily fulfill them. Don't be mistaken, the book is an enjoyable light summer read but I wouldn't expect it to win any awards. A good summer time read if you don't want to think too much
Rating: Summary: A very shallow book with a tidy little ending Review: Judy Blume should stick with the preteen set if this is as good as it gets. The story was pale and the ending was trite. With all of the great story tellers out there, how did this get on the best seller's list? I gave it a 2 star rating because it was easy to read...too easy. Shear drivel.
Rating: Summary: Just didn't want this book to end! Review: When I picked up the book "Summer Sisters" I picked up someone elses life! This wonderful book is an escape into the interesting friendship of Vix and Caitlin. I related to the girls friendship almost immedialty. Is there going to be a sequel to this book? I hope so!
