Summary: Pay It Forward: A Novel
Review: I listened to the recently purchased audio presentation of "Pay It Forward: A Novel" as I drove through out-of-town Friday evening gridlock on June 9th to be with my aunt Addi, who was told that afternoon she would not survive the terminal ovarian cancer that was diagnosed less than nine months previously. With all that was already filling my senses, the devestating news and horrendous traffic, I never thought I would be able to concentrate on a book on tape.

But from the first words being read, I was into the story with my mind, heart and soul. I want to thank the author for being able to take me away from what I was going through and allow my heart to be healed. The pure peace I experienced listening to this audio presentation was something I can never imagine being repeated!

Sadly, my precious aunt passed away peacefully three days later with me and her two daughters by her side. I then took it as my mission to share "Pay It Forward" and bought twelve copies of the hardback, mailing them to friends and family, asking them to take some time for themselves, to get away from the daily stresses... and maybe put into action something to make "it" better for themselves by helping others. I asked them to remember Addi and all the good she had done for others in her 30 years as a nurse, and all the good she wanted to do still if she had survived cancer.

I asked when they were through, to write a little something in the cover of the book - a verse, poem or something personal that would let the next reader know they were being thought of ahead of time! - and to pass it on to a friend, coworker or stranger. My hope is that real people will continue our fictious friend Trevor's dream. And who knows? Maybe years from now, the twelve books I have passed on will all come full circle, back to me! And today, I will be passing on six more copies of this wonderful story of a childs innocent belief that people do care for and about one another - and how our world could change for the best.

Summary: What a great parable!
Review: I happened to see this book sitting on my library shelf and I remembered the title from reading about the movie of the same name so I picked it up. I read it yesterday in about 2 hours and was so moved by it. Of course, the cynic in me thought a little about the plausibility of all this happening but the optimist in me pushed it aside - what if this did happen? The world would be such a better place. This book inspired me and I hope I can "pay it forward" to someone else.

Summary: For anyone who cares to make a difference!
Review: Everyone has always been amazed at the speed in which I read. I have read so many books and usually can recall the plot but not the characters involved. This novel is different. I read the book 2 months ago and it still resides in my thoughts, my journal, and my conversation. It makes me want to test the theory of "paying it forward." The characters touched my life. For example, while walking around a beautiful art museum, all I could think about this book waiting in the car for me to finish. Basically, I could not enough praise to this book!

Summary: A ten star book!
Review: I love this book.

I don't now why, I popped into my local bookshop and this book just lept into my hands and then into my heart.

The offical reviews will tell you the content, so let me tell you what it did for me.

It isn't a fine peice of literature, well not in the sense of poetic writting; but it is amaster of abook in having a timeless tale that really touches the heart. From chapter to chapter it fils you with hope, hope for the characters when things are bad, hope for their continued happiness when things are good.

I had to take breaks during the last 30 pages, they are so emotionally rich, its hard to take more than a few pages at a time. Have some tissues with you, heart moving stuff.

Although this is a novel or parable, its message is very simple to put into everyday life. Be it small or large, Paying It Forward is agreat message for both the reader and the world.

Enjoy, I know you will.

Summary: Loved It!
Review: Every now and then we all need to read about the way the world should be. This book was just the ticket. I found the concept intriguing and the writing was well crafted. If you want an easy, uplifting read, this one is for you.

Summary: If you liked "Tuesdays With Morrie" read "Pay it Forward"
Review: With all the cynicism in the world, it was so refreshing to read a book whose idea was so beautifully simplistic. It is the type of book you want to pass on to other people, at least three, and hope that they will do the same. After reading the book, you honestly believe, if only briefly, that it is possible for each person to do their part to change the world.

Summary: A great Idea that COULD Work
Review: This story jumped up and bit me on the nose. It was one of the few books that I've read that has had a moral lesson as well as a great plot( romance , suspense, etc.) It makes you think about your own daily life and how little things can make a huge impact, if not in your life, then in others'. If one small act of kindness can lead to world peace, then what are we waiting for? If everyone who reads this book pays it foward ,then the world will become a better place. The book was well written and easy to follow, by giving each character it's own chapters. The premise of the story was very beleivable and the surprise ending was one you won't soon forget. I needed a box of tissues for the ending of the book and couldn't imagine what a movie of this impact would do to me! The book also had humor injected at opportuned times....I especially like the conversation between Trevor and the President when they first met. It is definetly a "feel good book", and should be recommended reading for every young person out there.....for they are the hope of the future. My eyes are already peeled for those in need so that I can pay it foward myself. Do not miss reading this book!

Summary: a story to help bring us FORWARD
Review: When I read this book I was in the midst of an experimental project geared toward preventing child abuse via changing the energy in our community - something of a "Pay It Forward" in action -- reading Hyde's book offered me an affirmative boost that was magical. As soon as I finished reading it, I emailed more than a hundred people about the book - and the local libraries have not been able to keep it on the shelves since. It can be an easy premise to put aside with cynicism - if one's choice in life is to hold on to the negative (this can't work, people aren't that way, etc.) and keep out the positive (each of us has the potential to change the world in powerful ways . . . every day). What I'm finding is that more and more people are opening to joy and love and giving and letting go of control of outcomes (i.e. trusting in doing something wonderful just for the sake of doing it) - and if you're one of those folks, you'll find this book an energy booster, an affirmation, a gift for heart and soul.

Summary: Thank you Ms. Hyde
Review: As a reviewer has mentioned, this story may have some of the Frank Capra elements that make the cynics and would-be intellectuals in the critics' circle scoff, but since they believe their job is to convince the public that society is doomed to hell, I tend to ignore them.

Pay It Forward has planted the seed of hope and the promise of a kinder, gentler world that could become reality if we all had the sense to approach life the way young Trevor does. Whether or not pessimists will admit it, there ARE good people in this world, no matter how obscured they are by the 'bad boys' the press loves to cover. More importantly, there IS something each and every one of us could do to change the world for the better. I hope the movie will do the book justice. But even if it doesn't (few adaptations achieve the mark), the message of one boy's determination to buck the trend of cynicism will reach millions of people. Thank you, Ms. Hyde for taking a risk, and telling us a story we all need to hear. . . and remember.
