Rating: Summary: A fabulous twist on classic fairy tales Review: I love fairy tales, all of them. That's why I picked this up from a Wal-Mart display last night and started reading in the checkout line--by the third page page I was addicted. This is a really, really good story. The writing is a little rough in places, but the actual *story* is amazing. It's funny, heartfelt, with interesting characters and a few plot twists that actually aren't trasparent. The best part of all is Wolf; I got an *incredible* feel for the character..I'm in love with him already, and the miniseries is a month away! ^_^ The Wolf/Virginia dynamic is probably my favorite part of the book--it's a classic romance, with the added twist that one of the participants...isn't...quite...human.It's a good book; one that will leave you both emotionally satisfied and craving more(and more, and MORE!). Kudos to NBC and the writers for bringing this wonderful story to life for me. I'm setting my VCR Timer to "Record" *TODAY!*
Rating: Summary: The Amazing "10th Kingdom" Review: The "10th Kingdom" was a very well written book that offers the reader adventure, suspense, and even a little bit of romance. The story begins with Virginia and her adventures in the inner city urban streets of New York City. She comes across a dog that suddenly appears in front of her bicycle that suddenly changes her life. She experiences Trolls, a crazed half man/half wolf, and a dog that seems to understand what she is saying. After a series of near death experiences, Virginia meets up with her father and they enter an alternate world, also known as the Nine Kingdoms. Virgina, her father, Tony, the dog, named Prince, and a man named Wolf, journey through the Nine Kingdoms to recapture the Prince's throne and overthrow the Evil Queen. Through thier journeys, the adventurers experience prison, dwarves, goblins, trolls, magic wishing wells, magic mirrors, and magic. This book is an adventure in itself and is a pleasing novel that a reader of any age would enjoy over and over again.
Rating: Summary: excellent Review: Alright, so I fell in love with the book because of the mini series. The book is nearly as good as the seris, althogh a little dull in the very beginning. I would like to say one thing, where are the rest? There are supose to be a series of 6 books, and I have been waiting... so where are they? Ar they ever going to come? Or will I have to write them myself. If someone reads this, and knows when they are coming, or what they wil the titled, tell me. For goodness gracious I have been waiting since 2000 so please I am anticipating them. Just leave a review, I check this cite often. This book is so good that you get hooked sooned then you expect.
Rating: Summary: Good for what it is... Review: It's not often you enjoy watching the movie more then reading the book. The book was written on the basis of a screenplay, which would be the reason why it's not as good as I thought it would be. The author could have been so much more in depth with scenes and characters but she's not. It does offer a pretty good read and is very lose to the movie script. I would buy this if you're a fan of the movie. There are supposed to be more books made for the series and I wonder where they are? Hopefully a much more talented author will be writing those, although after several years of waiting for the sequel I'd settle for anything! I give this book four stars, and encourage all fans to read this book!
Rating: Summary: If you enjoyed the mini-series, you must get this book! Review: I saw the mini-series first, and as soon as I did, I was instantly obsessed, and I spent about two years looking for this book. When I found it, I quickly devoured the book, reading it in less than a day. It is different from the movie, a few character roles are switched around, and a few of the scenes are a little different. While I didn't enjoy the book as much as the movie, it is still a great book.
If you have enjoyed the mini-series, you must get this book! It is written very nicely, and it is so interesting to see the scenes that are different in the book from the movie!
Rating: Summary: Loved the book and the movie Review: I saw parts of the movie years ago and bought the VHS, book and CD soundtrack but just recently got around to reading the book. The book and movie were terrific. It was definately a page turner that I didn't want to put down but I had to because it is a pretty big book.
