Rating: Summary: An amazing, extremely well-written fantasy! Review: I heard about the mini-series on NBC in late February, "The 10th Kingdom," and I was very excited about it, although I did not know much more than it would be an unconventional version of old fairytales set in modern New York City. Talk about unusual...Camryn Manheim will be playing Snow White. Anyway, I saw this book and I immediately picked it up and started reading it. And I was amazed how well it was written. Usually movie novelizations are just the script written out with sketchy or not great writing, but without having seen this movie yet, the story gripped me and the language was terrific. The story is so much more than just a blending of different fairy tales...Also, it is not a children's book...It is an adult fantasy using images from children's literature...I read this almost 500 page book in 2 days...I could not put it down. It was that good. Hopefully the movie will be this good when it airs on February 27th.
Rating: Summary: What a story?! Review: I've always loved fantasy stories and fairy tails but this is something else. It's an amazing combination of various fairy tails which takes you to a wonderful, fantastic, magic world that you'd never want to leave. It's all about adventure, comedy and romance . The characters were great! Verginia, Tony,Prince Wendel and Wolf. I liked wolf best : he is sensetive, kind, loving and caring in his own way , and he was willing to change for the sake of his love.In fact he was willing to do anything for his love. I also liked Verginia, the lost and confused girl who finally found what she was looking for and descovered through out her journey what she really wanted. I haven't read the book yet(which I'm waiting for & looking forward to) because it was out of print. But, I've seen the mini series and it was great. And I assure you that reading the book would be even better because this time you would go there with your immagination and you would create your own world. So, If you want to go to a magnificent place where everyone lives happily ever after, I recommend you to read this book.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: This book was just as good as the movie if not better! Two thumbs way up!
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: This book is pretty good, especially since it is based on a TV movie. It's about a New York City waitress named Virginia who lives with her father in an apartment by Central Park and one day is befriended by a dog that was really a prince under a spell from the magical nine kingdoms. Very strange, but it gets a lot stranger and way more complicated. I would recommend reading this book if you liked the movie, because it is interesting to see what's going on in the characters' heads while they're playing their parts. If you didn't like the movie, though, or if you haven't seen it, I wouldn't recommend reading this. I would rate it PG-13 for the INCREDIBLE amount of cursing that happens and adult situations, but if you look past that, it's got a pretty decent plot.
Rating: Summary: A place where fairytales come to life Review: Have you or did you ever dream't that you could climb into a fairytale? Dance with princes' and princessess? Fight the bad guy and win? See the house that Snow White lived in and the ballroom where Cinderella danced with the prince? What if these stories were real and these people really did live. Virginia and Tony live on the edge of Central Park, in a hotel tha Tony manages (not too well).Virginia works as resuarant as a waitress. The 10th Kingdom is a true fairytale with unrequited love (for most of the book),evil trolls and a walk down memory lane for anyone that read even one fairytale. The charcters may have obvious names but they don't discribe the true character or their form. To be able to read this book, you would have to sit yourself down in a comfortable spot, relax and just open your mind to the beauty of this well writen books. It deserves no less than full marks. Go read it and enter the magic that is : THE 10TH KINGDOM.
Rating: Summary: Happily ever after Review: I didn't read the book but the movie was great! It seemed long but it didn't drag on and on. It really held my interest. I really loved Scott Cohen (so fine)and Laroquette was funny. Virginia's character could have been improved a little but all in all it was fantastic.
Rating: Summary: wishing on a star Review: This book is AMAZING! I've read it 3 times already. And judging by the binding on my book, it looks as though I may need a new one. The only thing I found difficult about it was trying to imagine the characters in my own way because I have seen the movie and have the actors to assist my imagination. But I recommend this book to anyone who wants to believe that there is more to our world than what we see. Reading this book has made me think that the stories written by the Grimm brothers (and other authors) must have come from SOME truth. It makes you wonder....
Rating: Summary: A GREAT READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: In this book, Prince Wendell, (Snow White's grandson)is inspecting the prisin where his evil stepmother,(who killed both his parents)is a prisoner. His stepmother escapes and turnes him into a dog, ordering a trolls and werewolf to chase him until he escapes through a magical mirror into... New York! There he chrashes into Virginia, a waitress, in Central Park. She is surprized by finding such a smart, handsome dog with no owner, and decides to name him "Prince". (Ironic isn't it?) However, Prince Wendell is'nt the only one making a little detour in the Big Apple, for the troll trio and Wolf also know how to use the mirror. To escape from the nasty foursome, Virginia, her janitor father, and the prince must enter the 9 Kingdoms to defeat the Evil Stepmother and save all the kingdoms! However, Virginia and the crew will have to remember thier fairy tales to survive! This book has Snow White, dwarves, Red Riding hood the third, the hunsman, Cinderella, gypsy majic, and much more!!!!
Rating: Summary: Are the books going to continue. . . Review: The 10th Kingdom book and movie take you into a world that you never want to leave. It is the fantasy world you grew up in, with Snow White, Cinderella and all of your favorite fairytales. The twist is that it finally answers the question of what happens after "happily ever after". It has easily become one of my favorite stories of all time. It has everything from action/adventure, romance and comedy. At the end of the movie Virginia says that "this was the end of the first book of the 10th kingdom". . .I do not believe they are going to make another movie, but there are a lot of fans waiting to have the books continued. . .

There's romance, action, mystery, and it is funny, too. Everything you could want from a book. I recommend you get this book, curl up with a nice cup of tea or cocoa, and just surrender your imagination to a ride of a lifetime. Even better, get the movie too. you won't regret it. I didn't.
