Summary: My first (and last) Clive Cussler novel
Review: This was totally ridiculous, from page one until the end. The hero was unbelievable, the situation was unbelievable, the truth about Lincoln was laughable (as well as unbelievable). How does stuff like this get published??

Summary: Faultless, fun-packed entertainment!
Review: From two unlikely historical prologues which seem to be unrelated, through Egypt and a red tide of death . . .Dirk Pitt and friends are back once again! This is a book that I would recommend to any thriller fan, be they a diehard Cussler fan like myself or totally unfamiliar. Prepare for impact as Dirk and co. combat a ruthless French industrialist who has done a total jerry-built job of a toxic waste disposal plant in the Malian Sahara and is using people presumed dead as slaves in a mine which makes the Unit 731 WW2 experiments look like a pinprick! How Dirk and Al manage to be in the right place at the right time, and meet their creator in an amusing cameo role . . . I don`t know! The best is yet to come but I won`t give away the ending, which does get you thinking . Overall, one which is impossible to put down! Another classic Cussler treat, and one of his best. Lunacy, action, great `set pieces` and `imaginative effects` - this would make a superb movie actually!

Summary: My first Clive Cussler book...not bad
Review: The other day after reading a particularly bad romance novel, I decided that I need to change the type of literature that I was reading. I tossed around the idea of reading a mystery or suspense novel. The receptionist in my office gave me "Sahara" to read. She told me that if I enjoyed action, adventure and intrigue this was a good book to start with. I had a problem in the beginning because the description style that Cussler likes to use got to be a bit technical. However, once I got past that I was able to enjoy the storyline and the characters. The story is really fast-paced and keeps you engrossed. I am now on my second Cussler novel and look forward to my third.

Summary: SAHARA I S ONE OF CUSSLERS BEST!!!
Review: I though that this was a very entertaining story. I think pretty much anybody will enjoy this one. So pick it up

Summary: Excellent!
Review: Cussler lives up to his excellent reputation with "Sahara", although as usual it is so unnerving how Dirk Pitt manages to always be in the right place at the right time, but that's his style. What bothered me was yet again Cussler introducing himself into his stories as a sideline character, albeit a rather integral one in "Sahara". It's a pity Cussler won't sell the rights of his novels to Hollywood anymore; "Sahara" would make an excellent movie.... Maybe Val Kilmer as Dirk

Summary: The best of the best
Review: Clive is the master of suspense/action writing and Sahara is his best work. Cyclops was the first Cussler I read but Sahara is what truly got me hooked. This book has it all including two great historical subplots. The action is second to none. A must read

Summary: a rollercoaster ride!
Review: A lot of fun! This book got me hooked on the adventures of Dirk Pitt. I can't imagine more adventure being packed into a single novel. The story is so wild that it strains credibility, but that's part of the fun. It's not great literature, but it's highly entertaining. Hang on for a great ride

Summary: Fun, fun, fun
Review: True to form this is another example of Clive Cussler's great situational writing. The ever present Dirk Pitt once again battles fiendish villians and insurmountable odds. In SAHARA Pitt needs to find the source of a compound that is causing the red tide to mutate and threaten the earths supply of oxygen. With his ever trusty sidekick Al Giordino he attempts to locate the route of the problem in the middle of Africa. During his pursuit he runs into the evil likes of a French billionare who's name I do not care to spell and an African dictator who would just as soon have you shot than look at you. Don't be fooled, a classic this is not, but an outlandishly fun read it certanly is

Summary: Thumbs Down
Review: This book was awful I do not know how people can read thisgarbage it has a weak action adventure plot that has been overused bymovies and the publishing companys. The same Hero guy saves the damsel then the world has been around since the middle ages has gotten very boring. I have also read numerous other books by him that are maybe threes and fours but over all I just do not think that he is a good author.

Summary: Pretty wild stuff, but not his best.
Review:

Dirk Pitt novels are the most interesting and inventive stories I've ever read. With Sahara, Cussler has continued to develop on his strength of weaving a huge story with tremendous action and intriguing spins on historical events. Sahara was no exeption, with Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino taking a wild ride through Africa.

That said, I think Cussler has lost two things that his previous novels had: 1) An incredibly intricate and diverse plot, with storylines that often seem totally unrelated to one another (like "Dragon", "Treasure", and the ultimate, "Cyclops"); and 2) characters that are not completely one-dimensional. In Sahara, the entire novel sequentially follows Pitt and Giordino, and along the way they meet a collection of the most cartoony villians I can imagine. Why didn't he compose complex characters, like he did in my personal favorite, "Vixen 03"?

All in all, a very entertaining book, but not his best work. Oh, yes, the first time Cussler put himself into one of his stories (Dragon) was cute, but actually making himself an integral part of the plot is taking it a bit far. But that's just me, I guess.
