Summary: One of an amazing series
Review: Except for People of the Mist (which is not out yet) I have read every one of this series and own them all. The authors are amazing. They have the ability to draw you into the story. I felt that I was right there next the the heroes and heroines of each story. BRAVO !!!!... I look foward to their next book...People of the Mist.

Summary: Warning -- don't read after the Anasazi Mystery series.
Review: I first read the Gears' Anasazi mystery series -- The Visitant, the Summoning God, Bonewalker. I'd rate those novels 5+ stars, and I've recommended them to a number of friends who have also bought the series. Because the books refer to stories that began in "The People Of..." series, I then bought People of the Silence, which I also enjoyed. On recommendation of another friend, I bought the rest of the People of... series. The first book (People of the Wolf) was well paced and included natural history, just as the Anasazi mysteries did. However, this 2nd book -- People of the Fire -- could have been tightened up and presented in half of its nearly 500 pages. Although the story line was interesting, it became repetitive with too many pages between surprises or crises. I'm throwing out this book rather than passing it on to friends. Not meaning to sound completely negative. I just think I would have enjoyed this book more had I not already read the exciting & action-packed Anasazi Mystery series.

Summary: A Book I can really get into
Review: I just got through with people of the fire. I must say it was as impressive as the first. I can really get into these books. It has given me a greater appreaiation for history.

Summary: An equal to its first.......
Review: I rated People of the Wolf four stars, but this book was basically a repeat. I read the book thinking that it was going to have a different ending but I was mistaken. It was just the same. At least Fire Dancer had at least a couple of years in real happiness, but I felt so bad for his wife who still after all that time waited for her beloved. It was still a great book. Wonderful theories on prehistory, great details and descriptions and once again strong characters. But it needed a twist to set itself apart from the first book. I loved Tanager. She didn't need some bad thing to happen to her before she became strong. She was an amazing woman who in her time of weakness showed inner strength to whom many can appreciate. But again Fire Dancer was Wolf Dreamer in another world and Tanager and Fox Dancer were also the same.

Summary: Not as good as the other books in the series.
Review: I thought this book was the weakest book so fair in the series. I started from People of the Earth and went backwards, and then I went to People of the River. My favorite one was People of the Earth. This book gives off a good effort, but its just not as good as the others. If your reading this book for the first time and the series for the first time, don't give up, it get better.

Summary: Even better than the first!
Review: If that's possible. After discovering the Gear's style in the first book, "People of the Wolf", I had a much easier time following the writing style in this book. Strong women, powerful men, corrupt dreamers, love, power, courage the list goes on and on. An in depth look at life before history and what the mysteries life held then. When a dream was powerful and ancient stories were young. Add this to your bookshelf.

Summary: A compelling tale
Review: In People of the Fire, the Gears bring us again into the ancient world of struggle, survival, and powerful Dreamers. The Dreamer, Little Dancer, is forced to choose between the woman he loves and the dangerous path of a Dreamer who walks between worlds. If he chooses his wife and children, the great drought may continue and the people will wage bloody wars for food and land. If he chooses to follow his Dreams, he may be consumed in order that his people may live. This second story in The First North Americans Series builds upon the legends created in the first novel. A compelling tale, I suffered and triumphed along with the characters.

Summary: Monster creatures on bellies crawl...
Review: So this is what Heron was talking about. This book is a great follow up tp "Wolf", with the meaning of the One becoming clearer in the lives of the characters. Here we see the origin of the Wolf Bundle and the Black Stone Wolf that will be become very important to the ongoing saga of there books. I will admit, I loved what happened to Blood Bear, he really had it comming.
Keep moving south!
