Summary: Kept Me Hooked!!
Review: ... Rose Quintiliano has done a great job of describing what it's like to be hooked on a "bad boy". I got completely into the story and could not put this book down. This is a good description of what its like to be in the throes of sexual and love obsession for a man who is seductive, great in bed, but emotionally unavailable and abusive. I also think Rose did a good job of telling the story from the man's perspective as well. [...]. Bravo to Rose for trying to get into the head of a narcissistic abusive man and tell us what it feels like to be him and why he makes the choices he does.

Summary: I enjoyed this book
Review: A friend gave me this book and told me to "read it & pass it on". It's not the type of book I normally read & I didn't think I'd like it but I did! I couldn't wait to find out what happened to the main character. The book goes back & forth with Rick's stories of his life & what's happenned to him. In the back of the book there's an interesting detail that I enjoyed(historically speaking).

Summary: Smooth, Sad, hopeful
Review: A powerful first novel, and a haunting morality tale. These razor-sharp musings will open avenues of debate and discussion long after the book is closed. This book makes for a bracing read, with just enough consolations to blunt some of the harder realities of the story.I'm also a fan of her Star Gazing column!
I eagerly wait to read her weekly column online, since I don't live in California.

Summary: Fiction-but true
Review: Abusive relationships have now reached epidemic status in our society!

I have learned some valuable, if not life-saving, lesssons from this book. I had a friend who was beaten by her now ex-husband and couldn't understand why she would tolerate such behavior. It is a very complex issue, and when I read this book (along with many others - so I have a very rounded experience of such literature - and am not a man-hater), I began to realise that my parents were toxic and that my father's outlook on and approach to life and the legacy he left me, has damaged my self-esteem and consequent expectations of relationships.

I have questioned my values over and over again trying to understand why I was unhappy in my marriage, and now I finally understand why! The pattern of abuse was repeating itself through me! I am not to blame for whatever my husband decides to blame me for because he can't deal with - and so projects onto me - his emotional problems!

Fortunately, I have learned to cope, through changing my expectations of relationships and life in general. There is hope! I am still with my husband. I am living consciously now and he is slightly 'inconvenienced' that I am happier now that I value myself more. However, respecting yourself is the only way to lead a happy, fulfilling life!

I am glad I didn't leave my husband as I now know what was wrong with our relationship and how to deal with it, rather than going on to another abusive relationship whereby I repeat the same mistakes over and over again in a futile attempt to try to correct the past.

This subject does take a lot of research and understanding. Fortunately there is increasing awareness of this epidemic in society, and this book really helped me. Every single woman, no matter what age they are, from the young to the mature, needs to read this book and listen. It does not say that all men are cads, just that they are cads if you are not the one. Women, how many times have we done the same things, be honest. He is directly honest, but continues to build you up. We are worth the best, and we do deserve finding someone who treats us like we are special. Every one of my single friends are getting a copy of this book for Christmas. That will be the best gift I can give them. An honest approach to relationships and a belief that they deserve the best.Fictional, but true.

Summary: Good beginning
Review: An interesting, well developed, fast paced plot which unfortunately is undercut by predicable and uninteresting characters. But the real problem with this thriller is that the escapades of its characters are simply not real, plus the book is 2 short.

Summary: read it in a couple of days
Review: As a man, I like the way the author turned around the character of the woman about being independent, and "empowered" is great. There are a lot of women who get in to bad relationships because they have low self-esteem, and accept the abuse dealt to them. The problem is that this book takes this principle too far. I would suggest it to any woman who wants to avoid true intimacy for the rest of her life.
Two paradoxical things happen to someone who has been victimized in the past - it sets them up to become good victims again, and it makes them that much better at being an abuser. I don't think there is any doubt that this book is solely aimed at women who have been abused in the past and, instead of trying to figure out how not to be abused again, are interested in "revenge" - becoming the abuser. Again, an excellent way to avoid intimacy, and avoid dealing with all of the feelings that are at the root of this behavior.
There are plenty of men in the world with huge ego's to compensate for their own low self-esteem.

I love, love this book. It is good natured, and very funny, and sad at times. It's intended to be tongue in cheek.

Disregard the few angry one-star reviews are obviously written by the same scorned person. It's a very funny book and the content is pretty down to earth. "Down home" advice as we say in the South.

If you don't buy the book, borrow it from a friend. Read it--or you'll be missing out on a laugh-out-loud experience.

Summary: In for a treat
Review: As a voracious reader, I have read the best. "He Never Called Again" is a heart-stopping thriller that keeps you turning pages until you arrive exhausted at the end. You're truly "in on the chase." Improbable as it seems, it combines, intrigue, mystery, and bittersweet love. You conjure up the images in your mind, but the icing on the cake is the ending. It's a book that teaches, makes you think, and entertains, all at the same time. Few authors can accomplish that.

Summary: Riveting
Review: AS THE TITLE SUGGESTS, THE BOOK IS ABOUT A MAN WHO NEVER CALLED AGAIN. MUCH OF THE NOVEL FOLLOWS A VAGUELY ALLEGORICAL SCHEMA DESIGNED TO MAINTAIN ITS CHARACTERS AND ALL THAT THEY OSTENTATIOUSLY SYMBOLIZE(LOVE,FAITH,INSECURITY,DOUBT,ETC)INTO A CULMINATING CONFLICT. AMONG THE MANY REASONS YOU DON'T NECESSARILY MIND HAVING YOUR ARM TWISTED IN THIS WAY IS THE FACT THAT,FIRST THE AUTHOR WRITES LIKE A DREAM, AND SECOND, THE BOOK IS OFTEN WILDLY FUNNY. AGAIN AND AGAIN THROUGHOUT THE BOOK, YOU COME ACROSS SENTENCES THAT MOST OTHER REVIEWERS WHO THINK THEY ARE CRITICS OF PROFESSIONAL WORTH, WHO DO NOT GET PAID FOR REVIEWING AS I DO, FOCUSED ON FRAGMENTS. THE BOOK IS FILLED WITH THE KIND OF DESPAIRING PORTRAITS OF ENGLISHNESS, AND WICKEDLY FUNNY SKETCHES OF DISTINCTIVELY ENGLISH ECCENTRIC"TYPES," THAT WE EXPECT OF A CERTAIN KIND OF ENGLISH WRITING. THE BOOK DESPITE ITS DYSPEPTIC PROTAGONIST AND UNIVERSAL THEME,"HE NEVER CALLED AGAIN" IS, ESSENTIALLY, A COMIC NOVEL, VERY MUCH IN ITS CURMUDGEONLY TRADITION;AND YET"HE NEVER CALLED AGAIN" CAPTURES THE TONE.AS,INDEED, THIS NOVEL BELIES CRITICISM. THE REAL SIGNIFICANCE OF QUINTILIANO'S AMBITIOUS BOOK LIES NOT IN WHAT IT HAS TO TELL US ABOUT ITS SUBJECT, BUT WHAT IT MIGHT MEAN FOR ITS AUTHOR. ALL IN ALL THE ECSTASY IS AN EASY SOCIAL COMEDY, WITH ITS WINK-WINK SYMBOLS AND ALLUSIONS. THE AUTHOR ACHIEVED THE KIND OF ARTISTIC AND MORAL AUGUSTNESS THAT SHE OBVIOUSLY AIMED FOR.

Review: Do not get this book? It is awful. I don't think it was even edited. I could hardly get through the under 200 pages. Any positive reviews... they must have read a different book.
