Summary: Excellent pleasure read
Review: Loved this book! Have recommended it to everyone I know that likes to read. This book actually got me back into reading for pleasure. I was so enthralled by this book that I've read every David Morrell book published. I wish that he would go back to formats like The Covenant of the Flame for his inspiration instead of his new material. Any of Morrell's early publications great reading material.

Summary: Totally enjoyed it... and recommend!!
Review: Mystery, religion and action surround our heroine, Tess Drake as she struggles to hold on to her life while trying to solve a murder. Mysterious religious organizations, environmental disasters whereby the culprits' punishments fit the crime, trying to pick out the "good guys" from the "bad" and a strong female character leading the way are the elements that stood out. Morrell's style of writing is straightforward, suspenseful and has some interesting ideas. History and religious battles are intriguingly weaved in his story. The lead character is down-to-earth, but with conviction on her ideals. An enjoyable read -- it's my first book by David Morrell... I've read it several times already... then went out and bought The Fifth Profession and look forward to checking out more by him.

Summary: Great fun!
Review: Not as good as Brotherhood of the Rose but still an action packed adventure ride!

Summary: Average for Morrell
Review: The book was enjoyable, but doesn't compare to the gripping success of Morrell's finest (i.e. "Brotherhood Of The Rose", "Fraternity Of The Stone", and "The League Of Night And Fog", with the three being somewhat of a trilogy). Morrell is an exceptional author, but he seems less than inspired on this one...still, Morrell at his mediocre best is still much better than majority of writers on the scene today

Summary: Interesting and thoughtful
Review: This a very well paced book with interesting insight on cosmic religion and politics. I was a little disappointed as the fiction went a little overboard in the first couple of chapters where the author highlighted the good of Mithraism with antipathy. It has its own inspirations, from the political angle the immediate thought for me at the least was that of the Manchurian Candidate. The semi-fictional comparison between Mithraism and Christianity is fantastic. It did make me think a lot. I wish Mr. Morrell had ended the book with a positive perspective to both beliefs. I am not qualified to add anything to the book but if were to add one thing I would have said the figures of Jesus and Mithras are to some extent both expressions of a single deep longing in the human spirit for a sense of contact with the ultimate mystery. In the end it is a good book to read and say "wow" several times.

Summary: extrodinary!!,Couldn't put the book down
Review: This book was amazing. David Morrell did a great job at making this book belivable and every time I read it it makes me think about what is going on and I hope when people read this book they will be motivated enough to help out nature like I have because it will be gone if we don't.

Summary: David Morrell's best novel
Review: Though his more recent novels have been an enormous disappointment, "Covenant of the Flame," is, in my opinion, David Morrell's greatest novel. It is everything a thriller should be: intense, exciting, interesting and intelligently written. I, literally, could not put this book down. If ever a page turner was penned, this book is certainly it. I usually don't re-read novels, but "Covenant..." is, without doubt, the exception. I highly recommend not only this book but also all the pre-"Assumed Identity" ones which are also excellent. "Assumed Identity" signaled, as far as I'm concerned, the beginning of the end. As a once die-hard Morrell fan, I am more than a little saddened by the turn his writing has taken these past few years.
