Rating: Summary: Too much and too little... Review: Ms. Hooper seemed to be in a hurry. She wanted to remind you of a relationship with Max and his wife, introduce Morgan and Quinn, and develop and complete a romance with Wolfe and Storm. Because Ms. Hooper was trying to do so much, the plot seemed hurried and the characters incomplete. I felt like I was missing part of the story.
Rating: Summary: Good...but a disappointment Review: the book was well written but it could have been a lot better. it was supposed to be about morgan and quinn, which it did start out as, but as soon as storm was brought into the story it then became about wolfe and storm. morgan was then mentioned every now and then, but mostly as a go between referee for wolfe and storm. i also didn't like at the end how it started a new story . it's confusing and it leaves you hanging.
Rating: Summary: No, just no. Review: This is the epitome of c*** novels that try to play on romance to make up for a terrible plot or just lack of.
So basically what's going on is, this suave thief has his eyes a jewel exhibit, who is he? The infamous Quinn, no less (whose appeared in previous books by Ms. Hooper). Then there's this babe, Morgan, the director of the exihibit, and she's all [...] about security because she's like "no, no, I just have this feeling someone's after Max Bannister's exhibit!" All based on absolutley nothing, which makes sense. I mean, she just has that feeling!
So, Quinn actually does break in, and because he's such the best and sneakiest thief, he's known world-wide and nearly gets caught by Morgan. Alas, a gang that's after the same loot catches him trying to steal it first. So, they stash him away and I'm drawing blanks because somehow, this completely tangent of a story pops in where Wolf (a guy that somehow works for/with/under/around Morgan) starts banging this other chick that just kinda shows up to make sure the security system is working alright. But because the people running the museum are such geniuses, this chick seems to be leaking security information. And, then that turns out to be a NIFTY little twist that I won't give away, because I know you're dying to read the book by now. (Oh, but I'll share that Quinn doesn't get caught. Because of course...there's a sequal called Always a Thief! ORIGINALITY!)
Then, there's this really random part I remember where he's at the gang's hideout I guess, hogged tied in a room, because they're a gang after the same loot as him, why would they just kill him?! Or maybe they want his autograph, because he's such a good thief that never gets caught? But anyway, somehow, Morgan manages to scale the wall like a gecko and (running blanks again) turns up in Quinn's room, because she knew he was there (blank blank). So she's trying to untie him, and accidentally grabs his crotch because it's really dark in the room. What??
Now, I will state why this book is so bad. It runs so fast, there are no details, it's just these people whinning and complaining in their heads. Then, there's the fact that there really isn't a plot other than this chick thinks someone's going to rob the museum and she happens to be right. Then everyone has a lot of sexual frustration, so they have sex a lot. Because that just adds to the oh so already deep and steamy plot
The only thing that really kept the story alive a lot of the time was the fact that Kay Hooper added all these odd romance twists that pretty much raped what I thought was a potentionally good book when I purchased it, but hey at least it was an attempt at suspense.
See, there's a reason why most of the people that liked this book a lot are in 8th and 9th grade.
Rating: Summary: Once a Thief Review: This is the first book that I read of Kay Hooper. I enjoyed the book very much, but at times it got confusing. Hooper just hops into the plot as soon as you open the book, it doesn't explain much. Althought it isn't that quite a mystery, Hooper keeps you pondering throughout the book.My bestfriend recommend the book to me and I finished it in less than 5 hours. I read at a 10th grade reading level and I'm currently in 8th grade. Over all i rate this book a 4 because it kept me interesting and wanting to not put it down. And for all those who said there is no ending, there is a half of a ending with the Wolfe/Storm part of the book. Let me just say this: THERE IS A SEQUEL to the book!!
Rating: Summary: Disappointed!!!! Review: This is typical Kay Hooper material which I normally like. Strong-minded females meet equally strong-minded males, you know what happens. What really ticked me off was the fact that this is only HALF a book. In order to find out what happens to the storyline - thieves are trying to steal Max Bannister's priceless collection of jewells - you have to buy the next book - Always a Thief. The book just ends with no resolution, just in the middle of the story...
