Rating: Summary: A wonderful sequel! Review: Absolutely wonderful! Far better, in my opinon, than "Snowy", which had its faults - in this one, I have found one tiny error of continuity, but otherwise a wonderful sequel. It was wonderful to read what happened to Snowy, Bev and Puddles as they reached my age (early 50s!) and surpassed it.... and there were tears, too, as well as laughter.
Rating: Summary: SO worth the wait!!!! Review: I am a huge fan of THE CHEERLEADER, so I naturally approach its sequels with a combination of excitement and trepidation -- and I was astounded by how much I loved HENRIETTA SNOW. It is an *amazing* book! We get to spend lots of time with the characters we fell in love with in THE CHEERLEADER: Bev, Tom, Dudley, Puddles -- they're all here, in great and glorious detail, as well as the Twins, Rita, Joanne . . . everyone! (Diane Morrissette! Norm Noyes!) Oh! And Harriet, too! This is a CHEERLEADER fan's dream book, answering almost every "What if...?" and "What ever happened to...?" question we could have had. But more than just an extended reunion with characters I adore, the story itself is fabulous -- I laughed, I sobbed, I was on the edge of my seat, and, at about 1:00 a.m., when it became clear that I was not going to be able to put this book down until I'd read every word, I cursed Ruth Doan MacDougall for being so darned addictive!!! It is simply a marvelous book, and I can't wait to forget it a little bit so that I can read it all over again (and probably stay up all night this time as well -- darn you, Mrs. MacDougall!). What a great and wonderful treat for people like me, who've loved Snowy for decades now. I can't praise this book highly enough.
Rating: Summary: OMG, when did this come out??!! Review: I have been a long-time lover of The Cheerleader and Snowy and have been waiting for this third book of the series. When I clicked on Amazon this morning to find a new book to read and saw that this was available, I just about flipped, lol. I didn't hesitate to order and now cannot WAIT until it arrives to see what Snowy, Bev, Puddles and the rest of the gang are up to next!!
Rating: Summary: A Disappointment Review: I have loved Snowy & Puddles & Dudley & Tom for decades. The Cheerleader is a terrific book. This new one is not. In fact, it is pretty bad: in desperate need of an editor, it contains sentences so convoluted that you wonder if even the author read it before it was published. And how sad is it that these people continue, forty years after high school, to define themselves by their high school years? And nearly all their friendships are with high school pals. Is this realistic? Still, I am glad to have read it, but only because I already loved the characters: this book alone would not have done that. So my advice: if you already know and care about Snowy & Tom, read this book. If you don't, forget it.
Rating: Summary: A wonderfully satisfying end to the trilogy! Review: I jumped like a trout in a New Hampshire brook when I realized I could get my hands on the last volume of the trilogy that also comprises "The Cheerleader" and "Snowy." A reader would have a perfectly wonderful time starting from the first volume and reading sequentially, but the books could be enjoyed in any order. Ruth is so skillful in recounting past events, in "Snowy" and "Henrietta Snow," that a dazzling array of characters shines forth, both individually and as part of the ensemble that began in Gunthwaite, New Hampshire. My family was sorely neglected while I reveled in this book. When "The Cheerleader" was published in 1973, I was a non-cheerleading teenager in southern California. Yet I understood and sympathized with Ruth's small-town Yankees. (In fact, I was quite envious of some of their romantic dilemmas!) Some twenty years later, "Snowy" appeared to delight me, and "Henrietta Snow" is even more satisfying. Ruth clearly has grown and learned tremendously both as an author and as an individual, and just about any woman could relate to the passage of time through her eyes. Her humor and acute eye for period detail are complementing delights. A wonderful book. I know I'll re-read it as often as its preceding novels. Good alone, or--best of all, buy and read all three.

Rating: Summary: A wonderful reunion Review: I loved Henrietta Snow. After reading The Cheerleader in the 1970s and then reading Snowy, I wanted more. Luckily Ruth answered our requests. Reading Henrietta is like coming home. I was so happy to catch up on our trio and watch them as they grew older. This book was like coming back home and catching up with friends. There are even updates on some of the other members of Gunthwaite High! I also hurried through it so I could find out what happened and now I am going to have the luxury of reading it slowly and savoring it just like a frappe from HOOPERS! I know anyone who has read The Cheerleader or Snowy will love this book.
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL!!! A must have for all who read The Cheerleader Review: I really enjoyed all three books. I really feel like I know all these people and I feel like I could run into Snowy at the store or something!! Its wonderful to see what happened to a number of folks from Gunwaithe High. I would say that I would like yet another book on her, but they are getting so old that the next book would have their deaths, and I sure don't want to read that. :-) Thank you Ruth for a wonderful trilogy of books!!

Rating: Summary: SNOWY MARCHES ON Review: Like all Ruth Doan MacDougall's other books, HENRIETTA SNOW is a delicious page turner. It would not be fair to readers to give away any of the plot twists and turns of the third book in MacDougall's trilogy (HENRIETTA SNOW follows SNOWY, which in turn follows THE CHEERLEADER), but as MacDougall's heroine Snowy and the people in her life advance all too quickly toward late-middle age, we are impressed once again by MacDougall's strong and abiding sense of place, her meticulous writer's craft, her evocative descriptions, and her encyclopedic attention to detail. MacDougall has been compared to Jane Austen. The comparison is sound; for both, it's all in the gossipy details of what makes people tick.
