Rating: Summary: I envy anyone meeting Snowy for the first time! Review: Reading a book by Ruth Doan MacDougall catapults you into her world. Whether you are reading the book in a New York City subway or on a deserted Caribbean beach, she will soon have you far away in New Hampshire with a cast of characters whom you could swear you have known forever. I loved the description of a previous reviewer who wrote that Snowy is someone whom you'd expect to meet at the store - how true! I always felt that Snowy was someone with whom I could pick up the phone and effortlessly fall into conversation, as if I myself were a high school chum of hers.
Although each book stands on its own merit, I would strongly recommend reading the trilogy from the beginning - "The Cheerleader", and then continuing through "Snowy" - to get the full flavor. I read "The Cheerleader" in 1974 - a paperback copy, during a long air flight, fully intending to give the book away to someone at the journey's end. I finished the book halfway through the flight, immediately turned back to the beginning and began reading it again. I NEVER gave that book away. Instead, I read it a kajillion times until it started to shred and tatter. It's that kind of book. Being able to follow the course of Henrietta Snow's life through "Snowy" and now "Henrietta Snow" has been such a blast! "Henrietta Snow" ties the trilogy together, weaving the old with the new.
I envy anyone meeting Snowy and her world for the first time!
Rating: Summary: The best book yet!! Review: This book was a wonderful experience. I hate to say I read the book, but more that I was a "fly-on-the-wall" watching these people over the years. Henrietta Snow is the complete circle of all these old friends. I wanted to hurry up and finish it so that I could start reading it all over again.
