Summary: A Taut, Riveting Experience
Review: Alex Cross is back and DC baddies beware. In this latest installment he is chasing after a demented bankrobber, who seems to have a hidden agenda. After the sub-par Pop Goes the Weasel and horrific Jack and Jill, Patterson and the good doctor needed a hit and they came through. You'll be riveted until the final, shocking twist, which promises to turn this series on it's head

Summary: What Happened?!
Review: I am an avid James Patterson fan. I was totally shocked and disappointed at the way this book ended. It was as though James Patterson just got tired of writing the story and just quit and let it be published. It reminded me of reading Gone with the Wind and wondering just why I bothered reading just a dynamic book with a stupid ending. I trully hope that this isn't a turn for the worse in his writing style.

Summary: Cheated
Review: Alex Cross was as great as ever in this latest book, with all he had to endure with Christine and Janine. But when I finished it, it felt very anti-climatic. The end was a surprise but it felt like it was put in there just to have a surprise ending and to make sure you buy the next Alex Cross book. The book was just too short and the main story not meaty enough. Not as fab as his previous.

Summary: Pretty Good but not the Best
Review: Overall the book was a good book. It had signature action and deduction that i have been accustomed to as a James Patterson fan, however, the book wasn't as fast paced as i am accustomed to, also i found the ending abrupt and was left a little confused. It needed a little more explantion.

Summary: NEVER DISAPPOINTED
Review: I admit, when I read the other reviews on this latest installment of Alex Cross mysteries I was hesitant about picking up the book. I am so glad I kept an open mind. Once I picked it up I was engrossed until the very end.

Personally I enjoyed taking Alex into a new and exciting relationship and was extremely saddened when things didn't work the way I wanted them to. I think we, the reader get to know a different dimension of Alex in this novel and that some of the "tough guy" exterior gets removed during the storyline.

I did not know "who dun it" until I got to the very end of the book - that doesn't happen very often; especially with an author that I read frequently. This impressed me. It also left me waiting anxiously for the next in the series.

If you have been a follower in the past, don't let the review scare you off - this is a great book and definitely worth reading and passing along to a friend

Summary: They don't come much worse than this.
Review: This must be the worst thriller I've ever read. If you've read an Alex Cross novel before, you have a damn good chance of working out who the mastermind is, no matter how implausible it may be. This is at least the 3rd Patterson book with the same sort of 'shock' revelation of the bad guy. I resent paying full price for a book when at least 1/4 of the pages are blank due to the number of short chapters - 125!!! It will take a hell of a recommendation for me to go near a James Patterson book again after reading this...

Summary: What Happened?
Review: I usually enjoy Patterson's novels, but like so many other reviewers, I was left baffled by this one. To me, it seemed as if he had no idea how to end the storyline and just picked the least likely person to be the 'villian.' I was literally trying to figure out if my book was missing a chapter or two or a dozen. Also, shouldn't he come up with a new twist by now? Why any of this is a shock to Alex Cross is beyond me, since everything that happens in this novel has happened to him in the previous novels.

In some ways I hope he writes a new Alex Cross novel that explains the mess he made out of this one, but I won't be buying it in hardcover, that's for sure.

Summary: Here we go again!
Review: Let me begin by saying that I enjoy the work of James Patterson. His Alex Cross is a character in whom I can believe, a character for whom I care. However, is it just me or does Patterson keep writing the same novel over and over? He keeps repeating the same themes. Alex's love interests are always in trouble or are THE trouble. Cops seem to turn out to be the bad guys. Honestly, I will read Patterson's work even if I find it repetitive, I just wish he'd come up some new material. The ending of Roses are Red left me with my mouth hanging open. Gee, who saw that one coming...although I guess I should have considering Mr. Smith. But, whatever the shortcomings, I am hooked. I can't wait to read the sequel.

Summary: An Alex Cross novel that seems to be a prequel
Review: As far as Alex Cross novels go this one was like most of the others; it was a quick read and there were some very exciting passages. The ending had a number of twists, particularly the final page where the true identity of the Mastermind villain is revealed. I was engrossed with the book and my wife hasn't put it down yet. This book can not be satisfying until a sequel is read (I understand it is called Violets are Blue to be released this fall). Until then we must be make do with this excellent appetizer. At the end of the book, even Alex Cross is unaware of the identity of the perp. My suggestion is to get the sequel in hand before you bite into this one.

Summary: okay if you don't have anything else to read
Review: I really love James Patterson novels, however, this one hurts his longstanding image of a great writer. The plot was interesting, but I waited and waited and waited for it to escalate. Just when I thought the book was getting somewhere suspensful...back to idle. The drama was drawn out and weak and the romantic aspect was rediculous. The end seemed to run around in circles almost laughing at you for reading this book. The last few pages left me thinking, but not in a good way. I was left trying to figure out why Mr. Patterson decided on this exact ending. I enjoyed it while I was reading it but was left very disappointed. I guess I was expecting more of a thriller but instead got the beginning of a bad sequel.
