Summary: One of Patterson's Best!
Review: I have to admit I was disappointed with Patterson's previous book, "Pop Goes the Weasel." But, this one makes up for it big time! It was a real page turner.

Summary: Dreadful!
Review: As a long time Patterson fan, I'm convinced this book was written in a week's time. Sloppy character development, trite language, and a ridiculous ending. You can just do so much with the noble Alex Cross and his precocious children before they start to wear thin. The characters may have different names, but the story is same old, same old. It's almost as if Patterson picks the crime and the names of the characters out of a hat and then attempts to develop a plot.It appears that Mr. Patterson is resting on some very old laurels and no longer feels the need to engage his readers. It might be time for Alex Cross to consider early retirement to a condo on the beach. My only solace is that I received this book free from a book club. Rather than spend YOUR money, donate it to a worthy cause instead. Ugh!

Review: Really enjoyed this book- the chapters are short and to the point and the plot was great. Lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Buy it!

Summary: This book makes me see Red.
Review: I only gave this book a one star because I could not give it anything lower. I am convinced Patterson does absolutely no research for his books. However, this is one of the worst offenders of his books. Patterson's plots using Cross are getting more and more far-fetched. It is reasonable to have one serial killer obsessed with Alex Cross but four or more get real. I also have a lot of trouble believing that no physical evidence would be found at a crime scene. This book was horrible poorly written and researched. If you like reading tripe this is the book for you.

Review: I beleive this is my fifth Patterson book and sad to say it is not of the quality I have found with his other writings. The ending was not expected and not as a exciting finish would be. Seeing all the other reviews I feel I am repeating them. I hope a great writer will see his mistake and come back with a really good novel. Best of luck Mr. Patterson

Summary: IT DOESNT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS
Review: JAMES PATTERSON HAS DONE IT AGAIN, THIS BOOK IS EXCELLENT. I HAVE READ ALL OF THE ALEX CROSS NOVELS AND THIS ONE IS DEFINITLY MY FAVORITE. IT IS CLASSIC JAMES PATTERSON, A QUICK READ, PROBABLY FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT I COULDNT PUT IT DOWN. IF YOU HAVE READ ANY OF THE ALEX CROSS NOVELS,I ADVISE YOU TO READ ALL OF THEM, ESPECIALLY "ROSES ARE RED". BUT READ THIS ONE LAST. THE STORY WILL MOST LIKELY BE RUINED IF YOU DONT. THE ENDING OF THIS BOOK IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, YOUR JAW WILL ON THE FLOOR.

Summary: Once again Patterson pens a page-turner!!
Review: I would put this on par as one of Patterson's best works to date. His continued character development of Alex Cross and the complexities in his life and how they relate to his work is compelling! This was a book I read in a day and half..I couldn't put it down! There are few (if any) books I've recently read that I could say the same for. Try to guess the "Mastermind"..that's about at close as you'll get. It will leave you reeling up till the last sentence & have you drooling for the next installment!! An A+ recommendation!! Kudos to Patterson!

Summary: "Roses" Left Me Seeing "Red"
Review: Like most Alex Cross fans, I was waiting with bated breath for the next novel in the series to come out. When I finally got it, I was very disappointed. I recommend you wait for paperback or the discount table for this one. The book opens up on the heels of Patterson's last Cross book, "Pop Goes the Weasel." Alex's fiance, Christine, tries to come to grips with being missing for a year. The only way she'll stay with him is if he'll give up police work. However, FBI agent Kyle Craig enlists his aid to find the Mastermind, a bank-robbing serial killer. Assisting Alex is Betsy Cavalierre, a beautiful and intelligent FBI agent on her way up. The novel seemed like an ersatz amalgamaton of Patterson's previous (and excellent) Cross novels, "Along Came A Spider," "Kiss the Girls," and "Jack & Jill." Betsy is a clone of Jezzie Flanagan from "Spider." She works on the same case with Alex and the two are attracted to each other. Never mind the fact he's trying to work things out with Christine, the mother of his third child, that doesn't stop him with having a fling with Betsy. I thought that was very out-of-character for Alex. Further, instead of blowing your mind and giving you a sense of awe, the twists in "Roses" make you say, "Huh?", and shake your head. That is exactly what you do when the identity of the Mastermind--who can't hold a candle to previous Cross villians Gary Soneji and Casanova--is revealed on the very last page, opening it up for a sequel. Unbelievable! Not only that, you saw that coming from a mile away, if not two miles! Even Babe Ruth struck out a few times. I have faith in Patterson. "Cat & Mouse," his follow-up to "Jack & Jill" (arguably his best Cross novel), was a disappointment, too. However, he redeemed himself with "Pop Goes the Weasel." Let's hope he can do the same with the next one.

Summary: Really angry at the ending!
Review: While I've enjoyed so many of James Patterson's books, "Roses Are Red" made me feel cheated when I finished it. If a book is going to be in the form of a "serial" where it continues from volume to volume, there should be a warning on the cover! Most of us expect a book to have an ENDING and not just a "CONTINUED NEXT SEQUEL!" The novel was exciting and in James Patterson's usual wonderful style, but I'm not going to buy the next one because I'll be afraid to be left hanging again! Aileen Leavitt

Summary: HERE WE HAVE.....ANOTHER DISASTER!
Review: I simply cannot believe it....James Patterson, a legendary author, and once again, another disaster. I looked forward with eager anticipation to this book for so long. Patterson has written such superb thrillers, but I just cannot fathom where his mind is at or what has happened to his writing skills recently. As if writing airy-fairy flights of fantasy, such as "When the Wind Blows" or the pathetic, "Cradle and All," are not enough, he is all but sabotaging his Alex Cross novels. The strong characters of Alex and Christine are here, and a great plot, but that's about it. The ending....please, I do not even want to go there. Perhaps, Mr Patterson is in need of a hiatus? Or, is he just writing, regardless of content, to give his readers what they want - a new book, even if it is a half-rate one at that? I sincerely hope he thoroughly thinks the next book through from from start to finish, and does not allow the computer keys to, once again, move faster than the thoughts travelling through his head. We love your Alex Cross novels, but this one just doesn't cut it.
